I'm down to 2 x 5 stringers and actually have now 4 x 4 stringers, although a thinning of the herd will hopefully take place at the SW Bash......plus I'm not sure how the Mods would be about a name change?
After an 8 hour drive to Newcastle and 2 hours back to Yorkshire on Sunday and a 6 hour journey back home to Somerset yesterday, I now have the following in my arsenal:
Just need to find a key for the case...oh it's a 2003 CIJ. Big thanks to the Monkseaton Mikes who helped.
I always email them and ask what the little 'D' is in the photo. (Never had a reply!) As I've said before, one seller uses Thomann's own photos of non decos in his ads which is taking the proverbial.
I have just had a NBD (more to follow tomorrow) and the case had obviously been locked and the key lost as the catches have been forced. Although the case is a standard pattern black tolex case with stitching and the white piping, it has 'Made in England' on the hinges and Cheney round button brass locks. Any ideas how I can ID a key as Cheney made around 10..? Just looked at my other old case and it is identical with Cheney locks too. Shame I don't have a key for that either. I'll post a photo tomorrow because someone else may have the same case and can tell me what No key...
On a more serious note, I hope all this enthusiasm about the Markbass PA system at the SW Bash does not impede us mere Bassists who want to see and hear the new Bass Amplification from them...?
It will be warmer by the time of the Bash and I'll be in Spring sox....
Here's another, they're like buses: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bass-guitar/222866610684?hash=item33e3e299fc:g:jtoAAOSwFYZam~-L
Even got a mock pink paisley pattern...little over budget at £280 mind..
I used silicone grease on the screws when replacing the Tuners. This has leached into the wood and when trying to re-shoot a poly coat over the new decal and tint, it gets repelled. So waiting for some Maple veneer to place over it having stain -stopped the headstock underneath.
My experience may be atypical but I got one of the 5 string versions and it was very poorly finished, with scratches on the bridge, bad lacquer on the neck and a dodgy earth, so sent it back for refund.
