  1. Yes, just found him myself, it was a tall order. Must remember 'drop down menu'....!
  2. I'd like to contact someone on here, but have lost their last PM and my efforts at remembering their address don't seem to be yielding their name in the search engine. For the record its 'six feet seven' or may be '6'7"'? Cheers
  3. I had a 5 String Squier Jazz that was natural wood and it was heavy. The coloured ones are cheaper Basswood( that doesn't have to have a nice grain) and are lighter.
  4. It is hand made in UK and depending on which version, a different tone. There's also an Alnico version which is different to mine.
  5. I swapped out my Roswell pickup for a Henning one, although the Roswell sounded fine: reminds me must put it up for sale in the For Sale section.
  6. and people say Fender's have dodgy neck pockets...
  7. I'm sure The Feeling used to do Ski Resort residencies before they hit it big. Unfortunately I have no contacts with them but do remember Jon Shuker has the Bassist's number...
  8. Are they Fender covers or could you get copies? Just realised I have put a Telecaster Bass decal on mine and it's actually a 51 P Bass. Well at least no-one can accuse me of trying to hoodwink a buyer....
  9. I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member....!
  10. Nice job, I see you have a Herrick pickup, I have the alnico version on mine and found it quite 'bassy' so changed the stock HB capacitor to a 0.2 from Monstertone along with a treble bleed kit too. I stopped at the new capacitor however, as it gave the highs quite a lift. I also got a lightly used set of La Bella Deep Talkin flats and prefer them to the Fender flats on my real Telebass. My HB weighs in at 9.47lbs, and here's a picture of mine
  11. I have a very nice Harley Benton 51 P Bass clone which cost around £100 new. It does the job, so much so I've thrown another £100 at it with paint and pickup.
  12. 'no fantasy bargin hunters': thank goodness, that's ruled me out then....phew!
  13. I've got a 72 Telebass ( twin buckers) and a 51 P clone. Had no issues with intonation by the twin saddle bridge on the Telebass and the clone has a normal 4 saddle bridge. No issues with the clone on the 1 pickup re hum/buzz although it is not a Fender pickup. There are quite a few of these in the Build Diary Lounge.
  14. I've got a 5 string version which has the PJ setup and is active. Some nice tones. I had a red one but it had truss rod rattle so had to swop it for a less nice sunburst one. It's a P-Bass type width, 47/8mm if I remember correctly. Like many Squiers, I think the rosewood fingerboard did for them, I tried to get one from the USA but hit CITES snags.
  15. Well, who's going to be the first to put their treasured bass over a BBQ to retrospectively roast that neck?
  16. I must put my Harley Benton Jazz up for sale then, it now has a USP.
  17. Got some strings from Michael, exactly as described and prompt comms. too.
  18. What's going on at the bottom/top rear of the neck?
  19. 2 options, poly or nitro, both sprayed and from rattle cans. You can spray nitro over poly, as I've done it. Need to prep the surface (scuff coat) and get a proper mask if nitro. Lots of stuff on youtube. You can also spray poly over poly. It pays to practice your spray technique as easy to mess up, again as I've found out myself. After spraying need to leave to dry ( nitro takes longer), lightly flat and polish up. I'll have the Bass i sprayed with me at the Bash and happy to talk you through it, mind there will be others there also who are much more knowledgeable than me on this too!
