  1. I had a early Godin A5 which was pretty decent and only cost £400 s/h. Nice sound with flats and a strong B string. But as others have said, only any use with other players if plugged in.
  2. Love your 1969 hair, maybe women would be more interested in you if you let it grow again? I'm 62 and whilst have plenty of hair, find the steely grey reflects in the stage lighting.....
  3. Just been informed by the BGM Editor that all 3 Basses were awarded as prizes and the lucky Winners will be announced in Edition 153. Due to short deadlines they have not been able include their names up to now. ...and sadly no, I wasn't one of the lucky Winners!
  4. I quite like it.......only joking! It gives a new definition to 'plug and play'....
  5. Colour has settled down as given it another 3 coats of clear. I heated the garage for those last coats too! Too cold to be working out in the garage now. Going to leave it to harden off and see what I've got at the end of January.
  6. I think the name of the Band was enough to alert me.....though 'big respect' if someone seeks to overcome their addictions!
  7. Just to clarify, my comment was referring to a BGM Competition where 3 Jackson Basses were offered as prizes, yet only 1 Winner has come to light ( and that was on Facebook). Thinks it's important when a Competition is run that everyone thinks they are in with a chance of winning and that the Winners are there for all to see.
  8. Well done Alan. I remember he came down all the way from the Borders to our first Yorkshire Bass Bash a few years ago. ......Nice to see a Bass in BGM that actually exists ( this comment refers to my Topic 'Vote and Win') regarding 3 Jackson Basses that were offered as prizes by BGM.
  9. Just had an eBay notice saying 'no longer available'. Thank goodness as I was sorely tempted!
  10. Welcome but ,oh dear, oh dear..let us introduce you to the world of GAS. Suggest you ring your credit card provider and get a hefty increase on your credit limit. Prepare yourself for all sorts of conflicting advice too!
  11. Yes, the 'Muff' was short for 'muffled'.....
  12. To be fair, some Amps have a multiple voltage input transformers (might have the wrong term here) that enables use across the world without fiddling about in the back of the Amp.
  13. Agree, apart from the National Lottery where for obvious reasons you can opt out, entry in UK Competitions usually means accepting the T&C's. These more often than not say you agree to have your name/photo printed as part of the publicity.
  14. Just to clarify, GAK say they have 4 in stock, all with case for £399 on eBay
  15. They had it on ebay at £399 last night... and still on at that price!
  16. Think it was the Irish guy who lived in Spain then came to London.
  17. OK, so Mark Francis Tully was one winner, what about the other 2 , as there were 3 prizes advertised ? Are they on Facebook too? If so, maybe I stop my Magazine Sub and just go on Facebook in the future? BTW, I'm not laughing, I think its very serious to advertise a Competition with 3 Prizes and only admit to one Winner so far..... As for 'spurious' Birthday Wishes, reading the definition of spurious it implies ''untrue' and for that I unreservedly apologise- I meant 'un-necessary'. I'd rather read about how a Bass or Amp looks and sounds in a Review than filling up loads of pages with what some Bassist or regular advertiser I've never heard of thinks about BGM getting to 150 editions.... Not having a go at you Sylvia, and thanks for stepping in: perhaps Joel will respond to this thread directly now as he is/was a member on here?
  18. You might struggle to find a fan fret for under £500- unless its a Harley Benton? Re moving to 5 strings, I went across and until a month or so ago was exclusively 5's. However then bought an old Telebass and now have 2X 4's and 2X 5's and seem to be able to swap between them quite easily. But that's after around 20 years on a 5 only....
  19. Could be blush/bloom as the garage was not heated. I'll leave the body to dry for 4 weeks and then take stock and smooth off the orange peel and see if the colour reverts back to solid. Thanks for your help.
