1. People pay a fortune for a reliced instrument, just embrace the difference!
2. Given much of his promo stuff for bespoke straps and even the courses is priced in $, he's obviously pitching to the vast US market, I watched one episode where he rented a loft in Manhattan for a week and got lots of top US Bassists down to do some lessons...In the meantime we were regaled by tales of how his luggage had been lost. In the end I get impatient with his stuff and find myself yelling 'get to the point Scott'. He's a nice chap, we had him seminaring at a Bass Bash long before the LBGS! (sorry had to get that one in!)
3. I'm a Board Growth Investor , whatever that is, in Scotland, which is fair enough as my Father was Scottish.
4.
Plus point to your mate for sticking with the first person, despite being offered full price by the next, pretty decent I`d say.
I'll pass on your generous comments to him...!
5. Austin is the lucky buyer of my Squier VM5 Precision and it has been a pleasure to deal with him. Great comms, swift payment, deal with confidence.
6.
Is there a conclusion to the story?
Well everyone loves happy ending, don't they? The Buyer contacted my' friend' well before the deadline yesterday to sort out logistics saying he had actually emailed earlier in the week..... but there was no trace of said emails. Anyway, there is to be an exchange of goods/cash tomorrow so all good, except for the guy next in line who has seen the deal slip through his fingers.....and he offered full price too! As my friend has bought and sold on here for many years, it has been a useful lesson for him to make sure he specifies quite clearly to any responses from Buyers, what constitutes an offer or sale and setting agreed response times.
7. Someone I know put some gear up for sale here on Saturday. It was in very good condition and very well priced and is a popular items with buyers. They need the cash to buy something else and don't want to miss out on it. On Sunday at 10.51 am they get a PM asking where the Seller was based ( presumably someone with BC on mobile?). At 10.59 Seller responds with address and postcode. On Monday having heard nothing more back Seller emails at 16.59 with postage cost Buyer then responds at 17.17 asking for best price and will check with 'her indoors' it's OK to buy Seller responds at 18.12 , offers to meet halfway as Buyer only 90 minutes away or pay postage cost to help sweeten deal. After no response 30 hours later at Tuesday 22.18 pm Seller emails potential buyer explaining there is strong interest in item and could they have a decision within 24 hours as there are others in line with acceptable bids. So the last time the Seller has heard from the potential Buyer was Monday at 17.17. when they were last online. Having made a great offer to the Buyer and not had any response for 30 hours, how long would you wait for a Buyer to respond before selling to the next in line? If you are buying/selling, how long do you leave it between PM's?
8. A gentle country-type nudge......! Not averse to sensible offers either. In response to questions, new price now £577 at Thomann .
9. I had a HB PJ 5 that seemed to weigh heavily, as did a natural Squier VM 5 Jazz
10.
Orange or Acoustic?
You must have better eyesight than me if you can i.d. the backline but yes, I meant Orange.
11. A certain Amp Manufacturer missed a promo opportunity there...
12. We could meet half way for a hand-over now the roads are clear of holiday-makers......?
13. Not much to say about these, either use it with a Nano or LMIII as a tiny rig or add it to a CMD 121P (as I did) and have a mighty rig. Not being used now and TBH only went out the house a couple of times so I could dep with a bloody noisy Blues Band who I have seen sense about and declined further deps with! The cabinet is as new with no marks or carpet fuzz and represents a £200 saving on the one from your local or online Dealer. Oh, and I'm throwing in the Roqsolid cover which was a further £30. Cab proudly made in Indonesia and inspected in Italy too! Here's what Marco has to say about it: Now our most popular combo, the Mini CMD 121P, has found its perfect companion! This is our lightest and most compact cabinet ever, and serves as a great extension cabinet for our combos: with this cab added, your combo turns into a 500W rig! This is also a small but mighty match for any of our 250-500W heads. MPEDANCE 8 ohms SPEAKER SIZE 1x12 in. 14. Seems to be a lot of exotica for sale at the moment, so here's a cheap and cheerful P Bass now available so you can unleash your inner Duck Dunn! All those classic tones at your finger tips... Just had a quick look over it and it is 'as new' and shod with Flats. The case is in great condition as well. Unfortunately the Soul Band folded so I have no use for it now but a great bass weighing in at 4.3 kilos and made in Indonesia. I'll add a quick photo to prove it exists but check here for a review:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5_KBiLxlfc&t=88s
15. ......and now for something completely different! Has been my go-to Bass for Open Mics and Kitchen Rehearsals due to its small size and woody tones. No worries about any bumps or dings as it comes ready reliced! Got it on Flats but will enclose the Low Riders it came on. I have big hands and fingers but find no issues with the scale or neck. Lovely tones. Here's what Ibanez had to say about it: Ibanez is proud to introduce the new AGB205 semi-hollowbody 5-string electric bass in Antique finish. Get the feel of an electric bass plus rich, warm and natural acoustic tone. The 30.3" short scale set-in neck of the AGBV205-AT is extremely comfortable to play, increases tone and natural low-end resonance. The versatile Classic Elite Bass Pickup gives you a warm, full sound that is ideal for any gig. The Sure Grip III Knobs are designed for precise control with non-slip functionality and classic looks. The Artcore Custom 5 Bridge is a milled brass custom-made bridge with 15mm string spacing. 16. Neck looks a bit twisted in that middle photo.....
17. I have a 5 string Artcore Bass which is distressed as part of the look. I still check it to make sure it does not have any genuine dings...!
18. Isn't that a STAGG EUB? Parts may well be available including the body wire frames
19.
Bass gear sounded fine back in the 60's and 70's for what it was and for what people wanted. It did its job but it sounded very different to how bass sounds today. The bass players I used to see were never quiet in the clubs. The sound coming out of TV's was pretty bad across the board, but IME it was usually recorded pretty well. I think bass gear has never sounded better, but Ronnie Wood playing Beck-ola on Bergantino or EBS gear would not have sounded half as good as he did through his 200 watt Marshall stack with every speaker straining to burst through the front cloth. I used to travel to my gigs in a Morris 1000 Traveller. There might be people who still think they are great little cars but I don't know anyone who'd choose to drive to gigs in one these days.
Pretty sure if 'Morris and the Minors' were still going strong, it would be their transport of choice.... Incidentally, I had 3 of them (not all at once)!
20. Or get a Jaguar Bass, the Squier has a PJ set-up.
