What about some chambers and then a thicker veneer over the top? If the bass is that heavy surely losing a couple of pounds would not affect the sustain anyway (and the Bass owes you precious little too).

Microcube at 5 watts not much more useful than for solo work, add anything more than acoustic guitar( like drums) and you wont be heard. The Yamaha THR10 is a bit more powerful 10 watts and still has a battery option.

Have you stood down where the audience are when the problems occur? It may be the weakness you perceive is not an issue down below and back from your amp in the audience. Long lead or wireless could help....
