1.
Perfect for dinner parties, innit?
Down here in the Capital, Dinner Parties are so 'last year'. We tend to meet up in the latest 'pop-up' Restaurant eating wasabi burgers off dustbin lids... Think they may still have Dinner Parties in Darras Hall mind?
2. There's a guy on eBay, a real guitar 'improver' who can turn a silk purse into a sows ear...
3. He was on Chris Evans Breakfast Show I think on Tuesday. They went through what he had done over the last year: Played for Obama, opened for Billy Joel at Madison Square Gardens, gigs at RAH etc etc. Impressive...
4. Slade's guitarist was more successful however with the Dave Hill Holder which is now fitted to most new cars.
5. Following injunctions served by Swedish and Norwegian Copyright Lawyers, the popular Alan Partridge character has had to be killed off by Steve Coogan. The rueful Actor and Comedian said ‘This will be Radio Norwich’s loss but I’m stuffed if I can’t use the phrases, ‘Knowing me, Knowing You’ and ‘A-Ha’. However he went on to say ‘I suppose the sun always shines on TV’ and ‘that’s the name of the game’.
6. I've not read the whole thread (so it may have been covered already) but am enjoying Gregory Porter's Liquid Spirit at the moment. I know it's a bit 'Radio 2' and is not the 'latest album' but some nice playing and arrangements.
7.
Has that ever happened to anyone? I can't think of a way you would do a circuit where it would actually cut out due to battery death, as batteries tend to get flat, not just die. As a result, you will just start to get clipping, and as most batteries discharge quite slowly with the sort of power an acitve circuit needs. Certainly never heard of it actually happening since I got my first active bass in the 80s.
It was tongue in cheek as many seem to quote this as an issue with an active bass...like I said, I got some distortion/clipping as warning. I suppose the other issue is if you are used to leaving your Bass plugged in all the time (maybe as I do at home with a passive), with an active you will use up the battery quicker.
8. Can I be the first along to warn you if you have an active bass it may cut out mid song due to battery death...! Never happened to me, but just one more thing to worry about ( and one more thing to carry in your case)! Am sure it's a warning put out by passive bass makers and Duracell! As mentioned above some have circuits which allow passive only if the battery dies, mine (Seymour Duncan Steve Baily 4 band) starts to distort and warns if the battery runs low.
9. Megan Trainer and Charlie Puth are following up their hit ‘Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on’ with a new album. Tracks include Let’s Otis Redding and sit at the Dock of the Bay Let’s Lionel Richie and Hello Let’s Michael Jackson and Doctor my Eyes Let’s Martha Reeves and Dance in the Street Let’s the Supremes and Stop in the name of Love Let’s Stevie Wonder Living for the City Let’s Smokey Robinson Going to the Go-Go Sources close to the couple reject the album is just a cynical marketing ploy saying: ‘the American public is too sophisticated to be fooled by song titles that just incorporate the name of an artist coupled with one of their hits’.
10. The McAloon Brothers are bringing their band’s name into the 21th Century by re-naming it ‘Timber-Frame Cavolo Nero’
11. Before it was sourced overseas, I remember Wharfedale being produced around Leeds/Bradford.In fact there used to be a Wharfedale factory in Shipley, think it was for TV's. All made in the far east now, last I saw by them was a nifty vocal monitor that attached to your mic stand, like the TC Helicon thing.
12. Jazzy B is revitalising Soul to Soul in early 2017 and will be auditioning for the following new band members: Alternative A Bluesy B flat Country C Dancy D Electro E Folky F Gothy G
13.
It's not a basschatter, fortunately. I've got a first name, which may or may not be correct, and a bank account number. Should be very easy to trace, but I too am worried that the police might find it quite a bit down in their list of priorities. I've sent him a message back now. I told him he really has no right in asking for three weeks, and that I need the money by Tuesday. So now I'm hoping that he was bluffing, and that he's scared enough to actually give me my money back.
Not wishing to rain on your parade, but if this guy does this sort of thing regularly I suspect he's laughing at you and unless you can prove to the Police he's done this to lots of others too, they are not going to be interested. Don't know if there is any mileage in seeing if he has done it before with others...?
14.
The folks at TOTP thought it was about Jockey Wilson
I heard that was actually an 'in-joke' by Kevin Rowland....ignore, already commented on! How about 'Everything you did' on The Royal Scam by Steely Dan? The line was 'turn up the Eagles, the neighbours are listening'. The Eagles responded on the track Hotel California with 'they stab it with their Steely Knives' which originally was 'they stab it with their Steely Dans'. They shared the same Manager (Irv Azoff) and there was some competition between them.
15. Paul Weller, Rick Butler and Bruce Foxton have rejected the idea of a reunion Tour in 2017 as they are all ’ just about managing’ in their solo careers.
16. I suppose if your name has a 'W' in it, its better than a DOB bass. Otherwise if your Band is named with a 'W': Wham, Who, or even Weather Report,,,no that would be silly, need a 'R' too
17. Been a few of these coming up as Decos too....
18. I tried ordering from them in September to be told they were changing suppliers...from other comments on here before and after then, they would appear to have been in this state of flux for some time? TBF they did sell good strings very cheaply.
19. Strings will feel smoother...think you mean Danny not Alan (who played football)!
20. I take my MarkBass NYC 121 speaker with me to Yoga and Pilates during the week and on the weekend I use it on a Park Run. It's never beaten me on a run yet.... Sensible answer is that when new they often sound better once used for a while. After that I don't know!
21. I have loads of strings that came new with the Bass that I have taken off after a few hours use and swapped out with Flats. However I tend to garnish mine with chopped parsley and a touch of vinaigrette....

23. I've found their Customer Service to be inconsistent at times, sometimes fine and other times where it is technical they seem to adopt a very intransigent position. Calmly explain all the issues to them again, send photos, it could even be worth a phone call? I spent a month in dispute with them once with a demo Line6 Variax Bass: in the end I wrote to the CEO and it got resolved.
