1. As the natural ones have the grain on show they tend to be a heavier wood than the painted ones which I think are/were basswood? I had a natural one which was over 10 pounds I seem to remember.
2.
Is said amp currently in Italy ?
Portugal?
3. This query happens at least 4 times a year due to the MB disclaimer which is really only to stop UK/EU residents importing cheap MB stuff from the USA where the voltages are 'mark'edly different! In fact it is possible to even change a US voltage to UK, (see Youtube) but European voltages work right across Europe.... Obviously MB would rather their Importers to each Country got the sales rather than pan European or even transatlantic imports.
4. Funny that, as when they first changed to Indonesian assembly, the Indonesian was lighter than the Italian stuff. Marco at the time said they had changed from B&C drivers to their own design: no-one complained then...?
5. Weird as it is lower than my 802, although a little wider. It has 2x 10" speakers against my 2x8's and the amp front panel all in the vertical plane.
6. Chronological influence: Trevor Bolder Colin Hodgkinson Lee Sklaar Danny Thompson Walter Becker Chuck Rainey Kenny Gradney James Jamerson Jaco FR Prestia That just takes me to about 1980....!
7. 2x10 combo with 250 watts. No idea on price mind. http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=276
8. Loads more on today including a mandolin
9. Yes, I enquired after a 5 string HB PJ Bass on eBay about a month ago, as it looked like a HB but the make was not mentioned. It was up for £100 and the PM that came back admitted it was a HB and offered me it for £90! I could not be ar8ed to go down the 'indignant decos' route with the seller (been there, got the t-shirt) but good luck to them. As said elsewhere, many bassists are unaware of BC and ipso facto the hot topics of the day so would snap up a Bass on Bay even though it is a deco.
10. Can't find the original thread but just to say 2 days running there have been Basses on the Thomann site in the Deco category. Yesterday, it was a 5 string acoustic and today a TB reverse Bass. Needless to say, they sell out in seconds but last week I went on(must be after they had just been posted) and filled my cart with 4 guitars that were still in stock, then thought 'I don't need these' and cancelled it. https://www.thomann.de/gb/decorative_guitars_and_basses.html?sid=f3220875c9fec54d63950b5685cd8177
11. Over the years I've had 3 Basschatters attend my gigs, one as recently as a couple of weeks ago. Why he sat texting all evening is beyond me.....LOL: he sat with his wife and listened attentively to the bitter end and rang me the next day to discuss the gig further. Anyway, in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man/woman is King/Queen. My Band really value my Bass, with them having spent a couple of years just playing acoustic guitars.
12. Hope he shares it with Guy Chambers (who wrote most of his stuff).
13. Quite true, in fact I have a 121NYC with said horn...!
14.
Maybe I'm missing something, but why did you go for the 802 instead of something like the 121p combo? Aux and phones?
I have the 121 combo too!..... I needed something just a bit more powerful than the 801 for Jam nights and small venues (as I was struggling to hear myself) than the 801 but not as big as the 121 (which I know is not large by bass combo standards) so GAS got the better of me..... I also have a NYC 121 cab to add to my CMD 121 combo so have 'large' and 'big' covered. Take your general point , a new CMD 121P is not much more than a 802....

16. The 802 is the second smallest combo they do, only beaten by the 801 which has 1 X 8" speaker and 45 watts. I'll start with the 801 as I sold mine to purchase the 802. For home practice and acoustic (non drum) Jams the 801 fits the bill, it is less than 12" square, light as a 6kg feather, and the beefiest 45 watts this side of a new £5 note. Controls are just Gain with the EQ handled by the VPF knob. The VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) boosts lows and highs, and cuts mids, often called the smiley face control. I used to run my Gain at 3pm and the VPF at 2pm to hit the sweet spot on Jam occasions, at home 9 or 10 pm on Gain was fine. This was with any of my 5 string Basses on Flats without any distortion or speaker 'farting'. Being Mark Bass there is none of that overdriven sound many aspire to however. Has Aux in, headphones and speaker out for home practice purposes too. However my requirement changed to home practice and a largish Americana band with 3 Guitars and Harmonica so went for the larger 802 with 2 X 8" speakers and 250 watts at 4 ohm and 150 at 8 ohm. Whereas with the 801 I ran the VPF at 2 pm to remove some of the treble, on the 802 the twin speakers and increased power give a very deep sound and I don't use the VLE at all and only use a tiny amount of the VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator). This is a shelf EQ that cuts a wider and wider range of high frequencies as you turn it up. This Combo has plenty of headroom and non of the high frequencies I had to dial out on the 801 with my Basses on Flats. In fact I'm wondering whether I change back to some ground wounds to add a little more bite, as it can sound a bit woolly at high gain settings? Taller at 19", 10" wide and 15" deep with home practise facilities including: Aux In, Phones Out, XLR line out and speaker on/off To conclude, I had though the 802 would have all the sonic characteristics of the 801 but with more headroom. It does to some extent but to me the basic sound is more 'Bassy', and the EQ with both VLE and VPF seems different too. Mark Bass say they both have a 'warm and powerful sound': I'd say the 801 has more 'bite' and the 802 more 'Bass'. These observations are based on 5 String Basses all strung with flats: a Super Jazz, a Squier VM P and an Ibanez Artcore Semi.
