1. On the subject of using a rattle can, you can get for a couple of £ a handle that fits over the can and the button and makes it much easier to use. This is an expensive one as an example:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Can-Gun-1-Universal-Spray-Can-Tool-Recycled-Plastic-Ergonomic-Reusable-Paint-/321680557430?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
2. Some great reductions on current stock too at the moment: MarkBass Nano £269!
3.
What piano stool?
Post #8 'Also, bands leave their money in the piano stool since the owner leaves before the bands have finished.'
4. Yep I had an A5 which sounded ace. They do some solid body ones too, seen a few at Bassgear.
5. I'd have paid good money to see the Bonzos and Sly on the same Bill! Someone with a hell of a sense of humour must have paired them up. "Can blue men sing the whites or are they hypocrites?" and Canyons of your Mind: [Spoken]: This is the B side of our platter, sports fans. And I'm singing just for your coverted sequence. [Sung] In the canyons of your mind I will wander through your brain To the ventricles of your heart, my dear I'm in love with you again! 'Cross the mountains of your chest I will sticker Union Jacks To the forest of your cheek Through the holes in your string vest [Instrumental] [Spoken]:My darling, in my cardboard-coloured dreams (Ooh, cardboard-coloured dreams) Once again I hear your love (Ooh, ooh, ooh) And I kiss, yes I kiss your perfumed hair (But she's not there) The sweet essence of giraffe And each time I hear your name (Frying pan, frying pan) Oh! How it hurts (He's in pain) In the wardrobe of my soul (Oh, my soul) In the section labelled "shirts" (Aah) Ah! Oh!
6.
Some cooooool stuff going on there for the first wee while, but he lost me toward the end. However.....I now want an Alembic. They look like something your grandad would play, but they sound rather good for that tight fingerstyle funk, no?
Wish my grandad had been Stanley Clarke or Mark King!
7. Its hard to compete with the new series of Strictly......!
8. 'Pics [s]up[/s] down shortly but it is spotless' Corrected this for you!
9. Why not see of anyone has a spare by placing an ad in the 'Items Wanted'? I did and got it for £15! Oh, and as said by others it works best with a combo and yes, the best stand is another cab. I have a CMD121p and a NYC 121 cab.
10. Thomann got a well know litigious Bass copy in the decos for £108. Hope it is OK to post this? Piccy bottom right as the full price version. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_rb_414cs_deko.htm
11. "Year 6 leavers Book"! In my day when you left you were lucky if you escaped being flour-bombed by the older kids! Anyway back on topic, in a previous, previous life I was a catering lecturer for many years. When I started teaching at the College in the early 80's Cookery Shows on TV were a rarity (Johnny and Fanny Cradock and very early Deliah) and we had an intake of at least 120 full time 16 year olds wanting to become Chefs each year and about double that Part Time based in establishments around Leeds. Fast Forward to when I left in 2000, you couldn't move for Cookery Shows on TV and yet hardly anyone wanted to study to be a Chef full time at 16.
12. The OP has the same line up as me: CMD 121P and NY121P and a Micromark 801 for practise. If you like the MB sound why not sell the 801, buy a Nano head into the NT121P cab for practise and small gigs. Think the technology in the Nano Head is more advanced than in the 802 you tried? I've gigged the Micromark 801 with my acoustic Americana Band but at 45 watts a decent drum kit will drown it out. Having said that I have rehearsed it with a 4 piece Blues Band, but using the line out into a PA, another possible solution?
13. Thought Richard Finch was bass player with KC..and the Sunshine Band?
14. The Zebrawood body is recommended for recording at Abbey Road Studios..
15. Nice to see a seller on eBay selling an honest Bass at an honest price with an unpretentious description....
16. Would a comment about 'Polk Salad Annie' be totally inappropriate...?
17. Having read these diaries avidly since the beginning, just thought I'd pop on and register my appreciation. It's fascinating seeing your journey unfold. As an attendee at a number of 'rural' Open Mics in this neck of the woods, I think ours are a little more 'laid back' but none the worse(nor better)! Without wishing to sound patronising, keep up the good work Mark...!
18. Probably around Easter next year, I guess?
19. Here's my newly arrived Artcore 5. The Starbass went in the other direction....
