1.
Here are a couple more shots - the headstock logo shows up much more on this. The bassist's name according to Reverbnation is Eddie N. :
Is the lower photo the one they did for Strongbow Cider?
2. Just completed a Trade with John and he has been a pleasure to deal with. In fact though his contacts, he organised a cross-country shuttle to bring the Bass to my very front door without me having to even break sweat! Great comms. too, you can deal with him in total confidence.
3. Don't feed the Troll! It's been obvious for ages, shame the OP has nothing better to do than amuse themselves at the well intentioned help given by others on here. Surprised this thread was not locked some time ago.....maybe I should suggest the OP visits a certain 'Guitar and Bass Improver?'
4. There's a little know guy called Nudie Cohen: don't suppose anyone will wear his creations?
5.
I've just done a quick count of mine as I've had a bit of tidy up and they are all in one place and I have the following: 4 Hiscox bass cases (one branded Fretking, the others plain) 1 Hiscox guitar case 1 SBK rectangular bass case (branded Warrior) 1 Warwick flight case (StarBass size) 1 5-star semi-flight case 1 Hallmark rectangular alligator skin effect hard case (For a Hallmark Wingbat guitar) 1 generic guitar-sized rectangular hard case 1 Burns hard case from the 1960s 1 home-made guitar-sized rectangular hard case 1 Mono M80 gig bag 1 Warwick gig bag (StarBass size) 1 generic bass sized padded gig bag 1 Tokai branded gig bag for a Talbo Jr guitar 1 Fernades branded gig bag for a Pie-zo bass And that's about half the number of cases I had a couple of years ago! IME the majority of branded gig bags that come with guitars and basses when you buy them are pretty much useless for protecting the instrument they were designed to hold. Out of all the ones I've had (and it's been a lot) the only half-way decent one was the one that came with my Lightwave Sabre bass. The rest offered little more protection than a bin-bag and some didn't even have good enough straps to be any use for carrying a bass or guitar on your back! The Mono gig bag offers a decent amount of protection but it's about the same size as a Hiscox case and almost as heavy. You have a PM!
6.
Battery life very much depends on the circuit. Generally speaking the more modern the pre-amp the longer the battery will last. As an example when I was using my mid-80s Overwater as my main bass the battery would last just over a month for about an hours worth of playing time a day. Also the sound would noticeably degrade when the battery was near the end of its life. These days I don't play my more modern active bass as much - probably only 3-4 hours a week, but changing the batteries once a year means I never run out of power. Having said that I always unplug my basses when I'm not playing them.
You have a PM!
7. Just did a Festival Gig with the Americana Band on Sunday, sitting down as the singer sits and it would have looked odd with 2 guys standing and her sat in the middle, so we all sat. We practice sat down so apart from my strap slipping (bass, not bra), all went well.
8. Just back from the Village Pump Folk Festival in Westbury where we managed to blag the coveted 10.30 am -11.30 slot in the Sessions Tent....! Not a bad performance considering we were only asked on Friday pm and we were just 3/5 of the Band as 2 could not make it.
9. Ah yes, it's the old triangle scam...!
10. These have been successfully used for Electric Bass, don't know about DB frequencies mind? http://www.astounded...CFYkp0wodn3kKwg This is the 200watt one, the 100 watt is £10 cheaper...!
11. Excellent deal with Tonci who bought my MarkBass RJ NYC15 Cabinet. Quick bank Transfer payment He was very patient waiting for it to arrive in Croatia, surprisingly it landed 2 days ahead of schedule! Buy/sell with/to him with confidence
12. Back in Yorkshire, I used to do lots of Weddings and did the paperwork. Contract went out very early, 25% upfront and then payment in cash on day and all the riders like drinks and food would be covered too. If we were going to be there 7 or 8 hours we wanted bloody feeding!
13. Damon just bought an amp from me, great comms, quick payment, trade with him in confidence.
14. Special Limited Edition Fact In a recent interview both Hamish Stuart and Alan Gorrie of the Average White band confirmed they were happy playing fretless bass on the Band's 9th Album and they enjoyed the fine weather whilst recording it at the studio in Miami.
15. As its now a 'Deco', I'll take it off your hands for £50 and you can go out and buy something shiny and new... Hope this sounds suitably sympathetic?
16. Could have been Earth, Wind and Fire I suppose.....
17.
creating the low frequencies at high volumes requires alot of power (as i understand it) so if you have the lows turned up you will run out of volume quickly and it will swamp the tone. Yes the cab can take 600w but your amp is running at 8ohm so you will at best get 2/3 of your 300w. adding another 8ohm cab will have the amp running at 4ohm and you'll get the full 300w. your gain should be set so the amp only clips (clip light comes on if there is one) if you really dig in, if you boost your lows this will happen quicker so you will have to turn down your gain more. i know the VU meter on my ashdown spikes more with nmore lows added and the tone controls are accumulative so the more you boost them the lower the gain has to be, so i cut my bass a little and up the low mids and mids a little and keep an eye on the spikes when playing. hope tht helps and appologies if its a complete pile of gumph
The LM2/3 is 500 watts so I think you mean '2/3 of your 500 watts' at 8 ohm and 1 cab, which will be 300 watts? With 2 cabs down to 4 ohm it will be 500 watts
18. Highlight of my Glasto viewing, must get his current and last albums.
19. I could hear loud festival-type music on Sunday afternoon outside my house, wondered if it was Glasto as I live 18ish miles away....or am I being ridiculous?
20. Interesting Review of the Torun 5 in the new edition, written by someone we all recognise....
21. Not liking the headstock and rear of neck treatment, looks like a blue meanie has been playing it!
