1.
who recorded at Mussel Shoals, which Joe Cockle guesting on vocals (before he had to quit due to problems with his herring).
Of course the recording they made got canned
2. When Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi formed 'Traffic', beat group 'Traffic Jam' renamed themselves 'Status Quo' (true) The Jam then changed their name to 'Marmalade', 'Hot Chocolate' to 'Bread' and 'Bananarama' to' Rage against the Sardine'
3. Nice, not heard this version. Is this a different (Gold Teeth 2)? Seems jazzier both in the intro and arrangement than I remember...
4. I guess the originator had an embryonic idea...?
5. I found the the Roland can't keep up with much other than playing along to a CD/file although the battery feature can be useful if you are busking with just an acoustic guitar but bring drums and another guitar into it and it just does not have the volume. Plus the FX are fun but not essential, drum machine is good for practice however.
6. Bass Gear do it for £299... see if they will give you a discount? They are members on this forum Yes, my first amp was 50 watts, a Selmer T&B valve head and a huge 15" cabinet!
7. I had one of these, bought online from Promenade as an ex demo. I chopped the scratchplate and put on a chrome one.
8. Had mine since last Jan, surprised how much they have gone up in price, think I paid £285 at Bass Gear. I use mine for home practice and for acoustic sessions, it won't beat a drummer mind! At this price point there is lots of choice however, bigger and louder.....
9. Seem to recall 2 guitars, Double Bass but no violin.....eek!
10.
You probably just missed me busking jazz in the foyer....
No, watched you for about 20 minutes. Django-esque setup?
11. Melody Gardot at Colston Hall , Bristol on Saturday night. Nice venue and the headline band came on at 7.40 ! Brilliant I thought, looks like 3 hours of new stuff and back catalogue. They finished at 9.10...! Almost went looking for another gig in Bristol! That said, she was very good, almost exclusively stuff of her new "Currency of Man" release which is soul/.r&b rather than her earlier jazzy stuff. Great bassist Sam? played upright DB and P Bass, lengthy Bass solo in a tune titled "March for MIngus".
12. As a Mark Bass user myself, you're chucking a lot of a money at an 802 for just 150 watts output. You could get a second hand CMD 121 P for around £400 which is 300 watts and 500w with an extension (not that you'll need it). Or a second hand LMII or 3 and a 210 Traveller or NY121 for around £400 too.
13. I'm coming to see Melody Gardot at the Colston Hall tomorrow evening. Anyone know decent parking close by please, I'll be getting there around 7.30 pm I guess? Ta
14. Prior to forming "Wax" with Graham Goulman, Andrew Gold mooted a collaboration with Fish ex Marillion. As usual they were stuck for a name, so nothing ever came of it....
15. Warwick seem to do most of their ads as endorsements. This months BGM has an up and coming Bassist 'Adam Clayton' ( never heard of him) on P3 and on p 89 12 Professor Bassists for their imminent Bass Camp. Last month Warwick had 'Robert Trujillo' in BGM, Aquilar had Paul Turner and Ernie Ball Strings had Pino playing a MM. Cort had Jeff Berlin too so the model seems to be celebrity endorsements. Do these translate into Sales, only the manufacturers would know?
16.
Wow, that looks great with the scratch plate. Completely changes the look. Hugh
+3 what a difference!
17. Seller is called 'Space Feet', maybe the amp is up on the International Space Station, hence the postage cost?
18. What's a 'Clear Tone'? Surely it should be 'Clean Tone'? Just saying....( and nothing to do with this thread)
19. Raffle off a bass? You can often find the truss rod just needs a bit of tightening....
20. Hypothetically ( and in no way related to this thread) why would anyone who claims 'guitar improver' status (whatever that means) show a bunch of old tat as strings and then say 'I'm going to put a good set on'? Would you buy a used car from someone if pictured with flat or damaged tyres on the basis they will be replaced? It doesn't exactly inspire confidence unless it was silly cheap? Again hypothetically ( and no way related to this thread) it takes some bravado/self delusion to sell for over £250 a frankenbass of epic scruffiness and botchedness ( 2 different coloured pickups etc etc) when it must have cost circa £37 I know 'Vintage' and 'Retro' are 'in' along with men with big beards in Shoreditch and I and many others could be dismissed as a 'gear snobs' but even if it plays like 'butter' over £50 is a step too far IMHO. To ensure there is no confusion, these comments do not relate to anything referred to or pictured on this thread.
21. That is the best example of his craft I have seen. (No way will the Mods close this thread down as long as we continue to praise his artistry) .
22. Side jack and battery cavity? Looks like the extra jazz pickup knob has been sited in the old jack socket too. Not original.
23. Bass Gear have/had a demo Nano at £250
