Funny (ha ha or peculiar) gear transactions
yorks5stringer replied to Mickeyboro's topic in General Discussion
Must have been a Freudian slip.......? I would guess 'anals' would rate as 'peculiar' and 'annals' as 'funny ha ha' depending on one's orientation? -
Funny (ha ha or peculiar) gear transactions

I'm selling a personal monitor to some old guy from Basschat and he's meeting me in Shaftsbury over a drink to do the exchange in a couple of weeks. Who knows where this will end up in the anals of history.... -

I have to admit starting the thread was on a subversive whim ( read the title) given I had a quasi- political thread locked a few days before! However glad to bring a different kind of music to the attention of others.😉 -

Low Tension Flats, an inherent issue?
yorks5stringer replied to yorks5stringer's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've done the Loctite job so we'll see how it goes, it literally takes 20 seconds when it bottoms out to wind it back up again so I've even done inbetween songs as I carry the right size tool. -
Good job it was not a Duck Island then....

Paul purchased a Gramma Pad from me with great comms. and prompt payment. I echo all the other superlatives about him made by others!

Getting practice right for the neighbours
yorks5stringer replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
Our band rehearsal used to take place in the kitchen of our singer and harmonica player ( a couple) and last from 7.30-10.30 every Wednesday night. When I joined I had a Bass Ukelele and as they were acoustic guitar, harmonica and vox it fitted well. The house was in a terrace and the singer's Mum lived one side and an old guy next door. I kinda thought 10.30 was a bit late to be playing but was assured we were OK. Our biggest issue was parking as old terraces are not renowned for providing multi parking spaces.... Anyway, I progressed to an electric Bass having asked the band if they felt it fitted better ( The Thomann Uke Bass was not brilliant) and when I used to see the singers mother at a gig she'd always complement me on the Bass sound through their wall! Scroll forward 6-7 years and the singer's mother moved out into a wooden house built in her garden and the singer moves into the Mum's old house, which is the mirror image of the daughters as there was a passage way inbetween ( still following)? Friends of the band have now moved into the singers old house and love hearing our stuff at rehearsal through the wall and at gigs. When we had lockdown all the neighbours used to say how much they missed the music and in fact this Saturday we are playing a mini garden party at the singers house and all the immediate neighbours and those from further afield are coming too. Also we have now morped into an electric band with drums which has affected sound levels but the drummer does not usually attend. As I said the biggest issue has been parking 3 more vehicles on rehearsal nights, usually the singer and partner park theirs up the road leaving space for us non residents. -

Tell them they are lucky it's not Diana Ross.... Thought the text was very passive aggresive, I mean only 1 x and a small one at that? -
I reckon they must read this thread: 'We have a brand new website coming by the end of the Summer '! They don't say which Summer however...

NBD - Shocking stuff from PMT, pre dinged and missing backplate
yorks5stringer replied to lemmywinks's topic in Bass Guitars
Yes, I got it, just wondered if I was alone in thinking that sort of comment was unnecessary and offensive and as a collective, we are a bit better than that?🤔 -

Unsure what you mean, perhaps you'd like to explain in more detail? It was presumably posted Friday 29th or Saturday 30th of July, are those bad days to order gear? -

Over the years I've amassed a load of gear, usually on failed projects and now is the time to move it on. Because most of this stuff is backline it has just been hiding away, so no excuses now! First up are a pair of Proel Flash 12 HA Active Speakers which were only used as vocal PA and for around 10 gigs over the last 10 years I've had them. These cabs with Celestion Neo Speakers are not to be confused with the Flash 12 which have neither Celestions nor Neos. Condition is very good, no scrapes or dents on the front or front grills and only some minor scratches on 1 side of a cab. They come with Proel foam padded covers and like all my gear, has been looked after well. I'll also throw in (gently place?) a pair of Proel Aluminium Stands with covers too, these again are unmarked other than where the socket on the speaker grips the top of the pole. I bought these when Proel imported MarkBass gear and they are a storied Italian sound engineering company going back many years although like almost anything now, these are actually Chinese made. They weigh 19.2Kg each and come with the original owners manual too. The Amp Power ( from the manual ) states 400W & 100W bi amp continuous and 800W & 160 W bi-amp peak. 12" neo woofer with 3" coil and 1" neo compression driver with 1.75" coil. Frequency response is 50 HZ -20 KHZ. Max SPL at 1 m is 125 continouos dBsl and 128 dBsl peak. Happy to supply more detailed photos if required. new these were around £600 each so a good saving for something so little used. At the stated price I'll pay for Courier delivery to the 'normal' parts of GB, those areas where there is a surcharge, well we can negotiate! BONUS: If someone wants a Turn-key P.A. package happy to throw in an active 100w TBox monitor, a Behringer passive mixing desk, 3 mic stands and 2 mics with all leads necessary too.
