1.
No interest? And all three lefties are still available. Have our left handed players left this thread?
Expect the market is flooded with lefties now, sure there will be loads on a certain Newquay based sellers site, all 'New Other'.....
2. The Paris attacks notwithstanding, the yanks seem to think it's OK to glorify guns, quoting the US Constitution. That was written back in time when you needed a musket to protect yourself from Grizzly Bears or poachers on your homestead.... Is Commerford with the Band 'Tool'...?
3.
I'll add to this my list of Really Tenuous Claims to Fame. I once played Keith Duffy from the Corrs' bass* (* before he bought it) Like I said... tenuous...
'Tenuous'..isn't that a ringing in the ears?
4. If there's too much relief in the neck and the saddles are on their lowest setting (and the alternative is a scrap bass) try grinding down the underneath of the saddles a bit? It might just make it a bit more playable....
5. Got 'The Nikkormat Book' and the 'FT2 Manual', available to a good home ( or any home to be honest)!
6.
That's a shame; they're darned good pianos, if somewhat heavy.
At the risk of repeating the BTTF theme again, wonder if they'd fit in the back of a De Lorean?
7.
Quiet day in the office Ivansc? Must be if you've read that far back in this thread
Where we're going , we don't need roads.
8.
Eric Clapton owns a dog called 'Blackie'.
Jack Black owns a cat called 'Frat'
9. Most MB amps run at 300w into an 8 ohm cab and 500 watts into a 4 ohm cab so into a 4 ohm cab will sound fuller and slightly louder. However MB will not run with 2x 4ohm cabs as it will blow the amp. I have no knowledge of GB amps however and if that would be the case too!
10.
In an ironic (and some may say cynical) move, Gene Simmonds is also pairing up with Axl Rose to cover Seal's song "Kiss from a rose".
Cynical? I concur.
11. Recently deceased Bluesman 'BB' King acquired his name from the BB gun he used to carry, named 'Lucille'.
12. Happy Birthday ARF! Moving swiftly on, In his recent biography, Crazy Songster 'Seal' revealed the reason him and supermodel wife Heidi Klum split up was because every winter she wanted to go to the Canadian Arctic and he preferred to stay at home with a Ball. In a separate development , Seal has teamed up with Gene Simmonds to cover the well known Brian Hyland song, 'Kissed by a Seal'.
13. I had one of these many years ago. Not sure what length neck it had but had awful problems with intonation on the B and obviously no way of adjusting it. Sold it on, but not on here!
14. I too enjoyed it too but was a bit worried that mic cable looked very tight!
15. Having seen 'Men at Work' on Later Tuesday night, this Factfile can confirm they have changed their lead singer and type of material.
16. Not sure what type of glue it is? Is there a corresponding solvent/glue remover? A Luthier should be able to get it off, I wouldn't recommend you using steam if it is water soluble. Will dental floss bite into the glue and could you saw it out? In future you only need a tiny drop of glue to locate a nut, for the very reason that if you need to replace it you want to be able just tap it out! Worst case scenario is you remove the broken nut in pieces and you have to buy a replacement. If you are handy with files, buy a dog bone and make a new one, just photograph the existing one first!
17. Tony Visconti and various others playing 'The Man who sold the World'
18. Eric Clapton gained the moniker 'SloeHand' after picking the dark blue berries and staining his fingers whilst walking around his Surrey Estate.
19.
Wow. The first thread I've started on the internet that made it to 2000 replies.
Congrats. I'm just coming up to the one year anniversary of the Alternative Rock Factfile, I can't believe it has over 175,00 views...
20. Not sure why he does all the upselling spiel about the Bass, when it is really just firewood.......? It may have a mono rail bridge but given there are no strings and the neck is f*cked, does the 'strong sustain' really matter?
21. My only paid gigs at the moment are House bassist at Jam Nights so I look forward to them and it's always a pleasant surprise when someone new gets up who can actually play and/or sing in time and in tune! Slight cynicism aside, I've learnt lots from those I've played with in the House Bands: as like in an earlier reply, you get told ' its a 2 bar in B flat' and you are off...
