1. The Captain and Tenille and 9 piece band Eels are releasing a joint rendition of "Sailing".
2.
They are greeted by Benny The Bouncer, an old prog rocker.
Ah yes, married to Minnie the Moocher for 60 years
3. Mine was changed as a part of the Secret Santa trist and I feel honour bound to keep it for at least 12 months.
4. Depressing when a keyboard player sounds better than a Bassist...
5. Just realised I can only play this on one of my Basses as the P and Starbass cut-aways and my large hands are not conducive to playing it up the dusty end.
6.
With over 135,000 views, this topic reaches places other topics can only dream about.
Even I wouldn't claim it reaches' Heaven 17'. Incidentally what happens when a new candidate for inclusion rocks up at St Peters Gate? Do they have send someone back downstairs, a bit like Downtown?
7.
You'll need a fretless '79 Stingray, too
......and a very short strap! Thanks guys!
8. Did a quick search and can't see anything about it, but does anyone know what sort of FX the Bassist uses for the Bass solo on Sade's 'Smooth Operator'? We are rehearsing this and my solo sounds a bit 'weedy'. Failing identifying the exact FX, does anyone know what would be required to get a soundalike effect please? Is it just a bit of Chorus? https://www.youtube....h?v=sOI8ae3Lub8 solo comes in at 1 minute 50 seconds.
9.
'Will it go round in circles?' was written by Billy Preston after reading yet another BC thread on the effect of necks, pots, leads, capacitors and other stuff, on tone quality.
Totally untrue, it's all about the tone wood you use. Pedantic PS: I don't think Billy Preston is 'with us' anymore....?
10.
Fair 'nuff. It took some peering to see the (presumed) high C string, but it is there.
Yes, I'm well regarded amongst my peers...............
11. Relisted along with a question saying "it aint a vintage fender neck" made visible.....
12. I think you mean "2 String Fretless Bass" and "what happened to the other 4".....?!!!
13. The RSPCA were called to a recent gig featuring Ferocious Dog and Mad Dog MCrea
14.
Asked the seller what work they did to make the deko jazz bass playable. " It's not a deko !! that's a mark left by a clamp during manufacture." Then they suggested I go do something else
The Seller guy is a total tool, which is something he never uses on the Basses he sells..... You have to admire his chutzpah mind, asking £150 for it. Funny how the category "New Other " states it should not have any sign of wear....
15. Royal Mail will need a signature, so will have put a red card through the door and taken it back to the local sorting office. (I know as this happened to me this week).
16.
A actual real life bass bash. Get your name in as I will sort the date very soon.
Did you see my PM Jim?
17.
Following on from this thread, said amp is now mine, and have just used it at band practice. Impressions are good. Ok, it`s not as full-sounding as the amps it`s imitating, but who would expect it to be. It`s also not as loud - into my Barefaced Super12T I needed the volume at 1 o`clock. On my similar powered Ampeg SVT3-PRO I need the volume at 9 o`clock. But, these aren`t criticisms, they are observations. For the money these cost I think they are amazing. Sure they`re big & heavy, but for a brand new giggable amp for less than £90, well I can`t see how that`s a bad deal at all. This is my backup amp, it will stay sat in the corner of my bedroom and hopefully never need to be used. As such, having a reserve amp for under a ton, I`m laughing.
When you say "under a ton" do you mean in weight or cost.....?
18. Hah, you should visit the Yorkshire Bass Bash thread.......!
19. You say yourself "you got a nice Bass" from the deal and maybe that's the thing to focus on? He may have thought he undersold the bass so is trying to claw a bit back on the pxed amp? Like you say, he may not get what he is asking for the amp anyway. Agree, it feels a bit of a sh*tty thing to do but different strokes.....
20.
After father and son duo Lee and Hank Marvin split up, Lee was rather embittered and took on the role of Ben Rumson in "Paint your wagon" with his featuring song "I was born under a wandering star" as a response to Hank's featuring in "Summer Holiday". Subsequent attempts to reform, with the mooted involvement of Marvin Gaye and/or Marvin the Paranoid Android, proved unsuccessful.
Lee Marvin's Grandson 'Junior' Murvin was conceived on on a Summer holiday to Jamaica and so got the patois spelling
