With One Direction splitting soon in order to "find themselves", it really shouldn't be that difficult.......they will all be over there.

The nut should just tap off (with a piece of wood to absorb the force inbetween) in the direction of the headstock. Always hand-sand, I've just put a piece of abrasive paper on a level surface, marked the bottom of nut all the way around for height to be removed, and holding the nut level just taken the bottom off the nut by pressing down and rubbing, if that makes sense, checking level regularly. It should not take long, BTW when you re-glue your nut back on, just use a tiny drop of glue and use the strings as clamps to hold it down until set. Either PVA or Superglue is fine, if you use too much glue then the next time the nut is removed it could take a piece of fingerboard or neck with it!

My back plate was the same, and it was the graphite shielding paint they use showing between the back plate itself from inside the cavity.

If you need to file each and every slot, the easier option is to just take the height off the bottom of the nut, leaving the slots alone. Just make sure you sand the nut on a level surface, maybe marking the height you wish to take off all round the nut. If you just need to file one or two slots then a file corresponding to the width of the string should do the trick! [/quote] The intonation screw is a tiny grub screw almost at right angles to the string direction in the movable saddle. It is an interference fit so you loosen it, move the saddle and tighten it back up. A bit fiddly and the grub screw is tiny. The supplied small allen key is provided for said task! You need to move the string to the side as when it is sat in the saddle you cannot see the grub screw! Also at the front of the individual saddle is another grub screw which locks the saddle in place. Again you need to loosen this off to adjust the saddle height and tighten it again, although the string will hold it in place...until you change strings and the saddles all drop out if not tightened up again. It's all a bit of a fiddle, when I de-fretted my Prog it almost took as long to adjust the saddles and intonation as de-fret it due to the fiddly nature of the individual sadddles God forbid you loose a grub screw either!

However it is comforting to see the Seller helpfully provides advice re sourcing a neck for it, ensuring the holes are in the correct position. That would be the least of my worries......

The seller is having a "Giraffe". £4000 for a replica with no provenance save the paint job was done in the same place as the original? That's like saying a modern P Bass is the same as James Jamerson's 60's one, in that it came from the same maker. Lot's of these replicas around where some cheap Bass or guitar is done up like an original and the seller hopes some [s]dickhead [/s]collector is willing to pay a crazy price for it...
