Anyone on here who know Fiats ?
yorks5stringer replied to BILL POSTERS's topic in General Discussion
So is it just the CL that does not work? I was thinking that the immobiliser was not working. Are you sure the transponder in the key actually works and its not a battery issue at all? My keys from a 2003 Alfa 147 ( the car has a lot of similarities with the Stilo) have a little light that comes on when the battery is low but I've never lost the link when switching the battery or when it stopped working. There's a guy on eBay who fixes Alfa keys, he may do the same for Fiats..? -

Good stuff. I was going to say "Goodbye" but I guess it should be "Auf Wiedersehn"? -

When I had Fiats (10 in all) you used to get a little card with the code on (or was that for the radio code?). Alternative is to go to an Indy Fiat Garage who will not charge her Stealer prices. Just reading some of the threads on the subject, someone put in a new battery and left the keyt in the ignition switched on and it paired up itself after 30 mins..might be worth trying. I have Alfas now and they may be different but a flat battery does not affect the pairing process for the immob... -
Following recent Fox News cock-ups, we have some competition.... We were running facts about the Christians months ago....here we go, another Jesus and Mary Chain fact: this popular indie band's members are actually called Peter, Paul and Mary.

Might it be like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Fiat-Key-Programming-Reprogramming-/10000000007277180/g.html -
It is a little known and scarcely recorded fact that Shakin' Stevens enjoyed a diverse career as a songwriter for others. He penned, "Shake your Booty" for KC and the Sunshine Band, "Let's Shake Hands" for The White Stripes, "Shake, Rattle and Roll" for Bill Haley, "Mary Ann with the Shaky Hand" for The Who, and "Shake" for Otis Redding. He is however best remembered for the song he co-wrote with his wife, "Hold on I'm Coming".

Markbass 801, anyone have experience with this or similar mini combos?
yorks5stringer replied to Kev's topic in Amps and Cabs
Anyone used these with a Tweeter? I've just got mine for £275 from BassGear and wondering if the optional tweeter will give me loads of top that I don't need or like or will give a balanced 60 watts at 4 ohms rather than 45 watts at 8 ohms? -
Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 - dead? (or alive?)
yorks5stringer replied to chrismuzz's topic in Repairs and Technical
Ok, so I've been raving about how much I love this amp, and have done since I bought it 3 months ago. However when I plugged into it last night, no sound whatsoever. Turned the master volume up to max, and turned the gain up to about 12 o clock before being able to hear the faintest sound ever. Checked all cables, swapped them with different ones, and even used a different wall socket. Nothing. Turned it off, scratched my head for a few minutes, then put my settings back to normal and turned it back on again. The master volume pot was extremely crackly but it worked.. for about 10 seconds before it went REALLY LOUD then the volume was dropping rapidly and becoming distorted. Every time I switched it off and on the same would happen. I tried the balanced input and it was somehow worse! Really at a loss to what the problem could be, especially since I gigged it on Saturday and it worked perfectly. I had purchased it from Thomann, so I sent a message through their website, explaining the problems, and saying that since it is new, and I desperately need an amp for the 31st of October (I am playing at the O2 in Birmingham), I would need a replacement ASAP. They responded first thing this morning (very impressive), however I am not happy that they have not offered to replace it. They have told me they want me to send it back to be repaired which could take 3-4 weeks! I don't know what the best thing to do is... However, I paid via PayPal using my credit card. I am tempted to see if I can get them to seize the funds back, and just buy another from somewhere else. Any suggestions would be extremely welcome!!
I'm guessing you don't mean 31st October..? Years ago I dropped my LMII in its bag ( and I'm not suggesting you did that) and it went the same way soundwise. I also had bought from abroad (not Thomann) and sent it off to get it back in 3 weeks. I bought a new Hartke LM500 for £180 and used that until it came back, then sold the Hartke for £180! -

Here's my sixpenn'orth.....I go to 2 regular Jam/Open mics because I know I am (usually) the only bass who comes along. That means I get to play most of the night and the guy who runs them both is a Jazzer. He'll usually start with the house band doing a few numbers that he calls, (I may get given a chord chart) then others will get up. My heart usually sinks when it is an earnest singer-songwriter who does their own material, but that is not often the case! I've gone along to some established ones where I have offered my services on Bass and they could not believe I'd be able to play along without even knowing the song. I'd be lucky to play for 3 songs! So from a purely selfish POV I have learned a load from my Jazzer guitarist friend ( he actually play Bass too, electric and Upright and is a f/t musician) and look forward to our weekly Jam. Needless to say, trying to get him to play stuff I suggest is a lot harder than his choices, he has them all on irealpro in preferred keys on his phone. We have Keyboards who comes along too: trying to do the Northern Soul version of Happy at the moment! I used to go a Soul Jam in Glasto this time last year but found it cliquey and only got to play for about 15 mins . so stopped going. If I'm going to drive a round trip of nearly 2 hours I like to play for longer. Afraid I'm not a very good listener when the standard is poor and/or I'm not playing! Equally if another Bass comes to the ones I play at, I'm happy to stand down and let them play...for at least 3 numbers!!

The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show.
yorks5stringer replied to Colonel36's topic in General Discussion
Radio 2 has become ( amongst other stations) so bland and mainstream that anyone who comes along and has some passion seems like a breath of fresh air. When I say "mainstream" I know it is national radio but Ken Bruce joshing Sally about the travel is hardly gripping listening.. -
Just be careful with the Squier VM Jazz range. The natural finishes tend to be heavier as they are a better looking wood (Maple) so not basswood. I had a VM5 Jazz which weighed a ton, my current VM P 5er is Olympic White, basswood and appreciably lighter. Having said that I've just checked and the VM P Basses are both Basswood, coloured or sunburst but they don't do a natural P I don't think
