1.
Unpaid bassist? Blue
Yes, the guy who runs and gets paid needs the money more than me and I learn loads of Jazz stuff from him. It's a win-win.
2. Some great Basslines at a Jam Night.... I go to a couple of these and am usually the unpaid bassist too. That said at both venues they also put on live artists and will book someone/or a band based on their showing at a jam.
3. Due to a court injunction placed by ex actor O.J. Simpson, the O'Jays had to release their material in the UK as "Orange Juice".
4. 60's Popster Johnny Bassman performed "Mr Cymbal" on Dick Clarks American Bandstand in 1963.
5.
Yes. Yes it does. Definitely. It definitely does. Yes. Edit to Add: It does.
Fence sitting again..?
6.
Well that's easy! It's the hand he holds the mic with.
Does that still "hold" true if he's a she?
7. So how do we explain the left-handed singer?
8.
10% of population are left handers, rising among musicians to 13% so chances are pretty slim (unless they're all related, but you're not posting from East Anglia so let's presume not) Interestingly, the group where there is a disproportionate number of lefties is in athletics. Oh, and I think the answer is 1 in 2401, but my probability days are long behind me.
Thanks, I can sleep soundly now knowing that and will reel off that stat at the next meeting!
9. 2 replies and no-one have given me the stats yet. Do I have to go on bloody Google and work it out for myself?
10.
Bloody socialists. They get everywhere!!
You'd better start writing your apology in Off Topic right now...you know how these things can escalate?
11. Last night at the second meeting with the new band I've joined, I've discovered I'm the only right handed player. Drums, Guitar, Vox and Blues Harp are all lefties. What are the chances of that?
12.
how do you know?
That person is me!!! LOL Just guessing, but if you pan out on the last photo there is a well thumbed Haynes Manual for self same car.
13. I happen to know the seller needs the money urgently to repair his Mercury Sable car. Ask me how I know!
14.
Many bands make the mistake of upping the tempo when they cover this song. They should remember her personal motto: 'Never Hurry.....'
See the thread about "would you quit a band with a bad drummer?"...!
15.
But that's capitalism, baby? As a punter I have zero interest for the motives of a shop owner, it's a market in the truest sense of the word, if the other guy has fresher looking plums than you, don't expect to sell many plums!
I wouldn't want anyone looking at or feeling my plums....
16.
Very cool and good luck. What kind of band experience is a fit for you at this point in your life? Recording only, no gig for fun band, once a month gigging or gig as much as possible? Blue
I love to gig (others love to boogie). Sorry, that was in the last band's set list, shows I'm not over the trauma yet! In the lucky position of being retired, got a little Part Time job and not needing loads of money from gigs to stay alive!
17. [sub]Johnny Cash and June Carter's hit "Jackson" was named after Son's of Anarchy Head Honcho Jackson Teller, played by Byker Grove's Charlie Hunnam. The theme tune for Byker Grove was by The Kane Gang ( who were not a motorcycle gang however)[/sub]
18. Smokey Robinson's 60's hit "Mickey's Monkey" was named after Micky Dolenz from the hit group "The Monkees". A follow up song "Torks Torque Wrench" was deemed not commercial enough for release however. Of course the song "Davey Jones Locker" predated the whole joke by around a 100 years....
19. Quicksilver Messenger Service were ahead of their time and saw the requirement for home parcel deliveries back in the 60's. Unfortunately by the time the internet had created the demand, they all had Mercury poisoning.
20. Ironically the current line up of 60's Popsters "The Tremeloes" do not use a guitar which has a tremolo fitted.
