1. My Bloody Valentine were formed after Guitarist Kevin Shields decided to make soon to be girlfriend Debbie Googe a homemade card for Valentines Day using a Stanley Knife to cut the card. Luckily Kevin was and still is a big fan of Django
2. Nicest man in Jazz (excluding Van Morrison and also Jamie Cullen who doesn't count as he is only 15 and not technically a Man) Courtney Pine was not born in London but actually the New Forest where his childhood instrument was a hand-crafted wooden penny whistle. Other bands with origins in Dendrology include The Beech Boys, Ash, Black Oak Arkansas and both Neon and Porcupine Trees. Britain's National Forest's are actually funded from the writing credits for every U2 song written...One, Two, Tree, Four.
3. "American Woman" Band "The Guess Who" never made it in the UK the way their namesakes "The Who" did. Tom Baker, Matt Smith, David Morrissey and Peter Capaldi are all household names and indeed bubble haired trouper Bonnie Langford who played on Terror of the Vervoids, often attends "Hoey" Conventions and is fond of singing "Total Eclipse of the Part"
4. The Penguin Café Orchestra were so named as many of the members worked at the Whipsnade Zoo Cafe, next to the Penguin House. Other Bands with origins in Zoos include: The Animals, The Monkees, Gorillaz, Dixie Hummingbirds, The Beatles, Snake Davis, Whitesnake, and The Byrds. Other Bands you may think of with animal names did not however work in Zoos.
5. Top session and John Schofield bassist Steve Swallow attributes his closing his eyes tightly shut when playing to his days as a Bird Food Taster.
6. Jimmy Page was working as a Librarian when one day he picked up Bert Weedon's "Play in a Day".
7. Both Thunder and Lightening Slim have clauses in their Touring Contracts that forbid them appearing on the same Bill.
8. Zoot Money gave up his job as a cashier in a breakfast café to form his Big Roll Band
9. Due to his penchant for flamboyant sportswear, Kevin (Dexy) Rowland would often run during darkness to avoid critical comments. When a few other similar fashionistas joined him running...the rest they say, is history
10. At a recent Bassbash, one of the attendees had this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_thr10.htm Surpisingly good sound and a lot smaller than any combo
11. Can't see any type of handle being strong enough to lift the cab that goes into? There will be be a new thread "Broken Cab handle" before the week is out....
12. When D-Ream split up, plain but smiley Brian Cox was reduced to busking piano in Manchester bars. His luck changed when he adopted the moniker of his heroes Longhair and Green and now he is never out of the UK media.
13. Pop-Jazzers Steely Dan copyrighted the term "Black Friday" so every November 28th, they receive massive royalties which far exceed their album sales. Other sources of their income include the words "Divorce", "Years", "FM" and "Peg".
14. Nicole Sheringer's album "Big Fat Lie" is a musical expose of Muller's low calorie desserts.
15. Bette Midler was a fairly successful professional gambler before she took up a singing career
16. After the Brothers Johnson split, Boris continued to play away whilst he dabbled in politics.
17. Frankie Valli was cleaning cars before he got discovered and became famous.
18.
I'm shocked that so many of you are watching commercial television...you uncouth lot.
The maid had it on as I passed through the Scullery. TV's were banned under the stairs until 2010 then young Mister YFS ( he's 94) relented. That said, they are allowed 30 minutes a day and have to pay for the license themselves...
19. Appearing in the For Sale Section soon?
20. After the breakup of Sisters of Mercy, Soeur Sourire enjoyed a lengthy career as The Singing Nun.
21. Following the split of "Driver's Seat" Sniff and the Tears, the latter half of the Band joined Tears For Fears and the former half linked up with Morrissey and Johnny Marr.
22. Having inadvertently stirred up a Hornets nest, I'd like to say Mr Swift has now been spotted on an updated version of the ad, bowing his DB. All is good in TV ad land.
23. If your combo won't tip back or sit on a chair, you could buy one of these: http://www.woodbrass...CFauWtAodpFgAkg Having had both a LMII and a LMIII myself, they were both plenty loud in a 2 guitar situation for me.
24. Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dance Floor" inspired two further hits, Queens "Flash" and Betty Wright's "Clean up Woman"
25. When the Soul Octetet "The Tops " split up into two, "The Four Tops" went on to enjoy more success than their counterparts, "The Four Bottoms"
