  1. Don't ya love Gibson Basses? They take a 335 guitar body, convert it to a Bass (EB2), then give it back 6 strings to make an EB6 baritone. Yours for £12.5K and rare as hen's teeth! https://reverb.com/uk/item/36799908-1960-gibson-eb-6?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=Criteo-UK-SimilarAudiences-MF-2021Q4&utm_content=0x0#tblciGiDHBe0Gb_5s2BYbirCu9kUaoapBsIXFUla5CAHF9UDgvCDwjE4o2Zv-3rOuo9mzAQ
  2. No, I'm much better looking and I only don 'leisurewear' at the weekend.
  3. and if you notice, all threads concerning him 'disappeared' a couple of months ago.....!
  4. Not worth buying in that price bracket......
  5. IBTL (as it's on Reverb and not eBay and he is not allowed to be mentioned)
  6. I'll set them up and you knock them into the back of the onion bag. Speaking of which, you know what the world is?
  7. Going to see Amy Helm, daughter of Levon and step-daughter of Donald Fagan- there's a musical heritage. On in Bristol at the Louisiana this coming Saturday. I've got a gig at the Home Farm Fest late afternoon then on up to Bristol for a 8.00 pm start. First gig I've watched since lockdown....
  8. Played the 12.00 first slot at the Vintage Heritage Festival today on the Tipi Stage , a 40 minute set with our own PA and were scheduled to do a 2 hour set starting at 6.30 pm at a local Stately Home later. Heavens opened around 4.00 pm and got a message, 'we are starting early due to the rain'. 25 minutes later when I arrived they had just decided to call it off as we were under a large gazebo which although waterproof most of the villagers had gone home and electrically it was all a bit dodgy. We were paid and invited to sample the Hog Roast and Draught beer bought in especially for the event however. We have offered to play there again for free although I suspect they will want to pay us again! The rain has now eased off but everything is very wet.
  9. I think too much cheese would wreck their cholesterol readings and keep them up all night with nightmares too, however if there were 98 more red balloons we'd be up for it. Also, I wonder if that's the first time there has been sax on that stage?
  10. Think I'll decline: anywhere that allows the elderly to brandish a sharpened blade is too West Side Story for me!
  11. Not an expert but I think the advice is it's fine as long as you use your ears: obviously if the speaker starts flapping you are giving it too many beans, so back it off unless you want the cone to detach! Assume it is an 8 ohm speaker not a 4?
  12. Retirement Complex? Looks like a church to me? Nitpicking aside, it's good to see you brought some of the residents up on stage with you!
  13. Outside in a sunny packed Pub Beer garden this afternoon in Dorset, next to the BBQ which was pretty galling as we were asked to announce the food was closing half way through our second set. Cheeky gets, I managed to prise a round of drinks off them before we started but they didn't even ask if we wanted feeding. Talk about hiding in plain sight! Gig went well and we've managed to get our singer to embrace a Telecaster rather than her acoustic, next we'll have her standing up rather than sitting on a stool like in a folk club..... Moving on we have 2 gigs this Sunday, one a Vintage Festival, then another Festival on the 11th and 12th too! Look forward to the Festivals as usually get good sound, both in monitors and the PA. In deference to the Jubilee I brought out my 50 year old Telecaster Bass today, but think I'll travel lighter at the weekend with the Acinonyx
  14. I read the thread too and it does not sound good ( a bit like your amp!) If you can afford it buy another or look on the classifieds here and there's a MarkBass CMD121P for £450....( I've got no skin in the game). Or something to DI into a PA?
  15. Smoother sound, not as edgy as rounds..my subjective opinion!
  16. Fine, they just seem like normal flats to me, keep on meaning to compare them to the ones on my Telecaster Bass although one could argue it's not a valid comparison due to scale length differences... Good luck on getting your Cat, not sure if the whole country will grind to a halt on Thursday or is it more likely Friday?
  17. Looking back, I did not really know how to get the best out of the amp, no mid range scoop on the amp graphic photo.....! That combo was heavy too.
  18. Not a chance, fancy trying to find a fish shop open after a gig?
  19. Interesting, in that I have huge hands and have no issues with the neck and have a variety of basses including a wide 5 string. I did read of others who had issues with the transition on a Nordy, so you are not alone!
  20. I had this Supernatural Roadie during the 90's and traded it for a Status Groove 5 string for £400!
  21. Just record an encore at the end then?
  22. Well for all those who hate gigging, just do a VR set and come on at the end to take the applause.....
  23. I had a 5 string Acoustic Crafter which I bought at the Birmingham Guitar Show many moons ago. The low B was fine when new but I stupidy changed strings and despite me subsequently trying thinner and thicker, gold, bronze and stainless strings even at the 3rd and 5th frets it sounded out with the other 4 strings. In the end I got rid of it( to a shop, not here!).
