1. Played the Bradford Festival, must be around 15-20 years ago and the Bass backline was all Ampeg. My Dad, who came to watch wondered off, said it was too loud....
2.
Best simple way is a USB guitar cable. A quick Google, or eBay search will reveal lots, all inexpensive. I've used with success the Alesis one... Alesis USB cable, Amazon... ...There are others, and other sources. I've upgraded since to have more recording options (mic input etc...), but for practicing through a PC, it's a doddle. As a bonus, there are many amp and Fx applications to play around with available as downloads.
Thanks, is this better than a simple jack to USB? 3. + 1 to above but I'm a fan of zero zero seven if that's any help....?
4. Watching that made me think how times have changed in manufacturing and also a comment someone made yesterday about how they'd not buy anything made in far east sweatshop!
5. Well it seems the Vox Amplug 2 is out of stock and new deliveries are not in till November so my impulse buy becomes something else. I have cancelled the order with GAK. Apologies for the thread hijack but given I have some monitors with my laptop what's the best way to connect a bass into it? The monitors are connected into the headphones socket which just leaves the mic socket free..what sort of plug do I need? The mic I use for Skype looks like a stereo one do I just use a jack into my Bass terminating in a stereo mic mini jack?
6. Do you know it's got a hole right through it.....?
7.
I do hope they buck the trend, but in my opinion every amp maker that jumps to the far east ends up with reliability issues. Blackstar, trace elliot that blew resistors , peavey, ampeg, . Marshall. You pay a premium price for a brand knowing it has not been made in a sweatshop . Premium brands are made by people who have pride in the brand, everyone that has jumped this far east quick buck route ends up with sub standard reliability issues. Lets hope they have not made a mistake, the pricing suggests they have total confidence, but so did everyone elses.
I think it's a big leap to go from " made in the far east" to " sweatshop". The labour cost will be less than in Europe granted but for electronics I doubt conditions will be like the clothing places? If you read Marco's responses in the thread mentioned, he pointed out every item from Indonesia is tested in Italy before being shipped out too.
8. I have both an Alfa 147 and 159 SW and neither will accommodate a bass case in the boot, only on the back seat. I can't see how the Guilietta would be any different. However don't buy a Kia as I doubt it will fit either, stand out from the mundane crowd with an Alfa!
9. I've just ordered one of these:http://www.gak.co.uk/en/vox-amplug-2-headphone-amp-bass/103325?gclid=CNKTxMnYzcACFY_ItAod9BsApA No idea if its any good but this is the V2 one with some extra toys. Sorry URL has not gone highlighted...
10. Last band 2X45, this band 60 mins first set, 45 second
11. Thomann have knocked around 20% off Markbass gear for the last 3 or so months...
12. Decent enough B, having swapped out the strings I just need to adjust the intonation tomorrow....
13.
My Thumb with the former GK rig:
Bet that cost more than £31...?
14. The most telling photo is the one where it is supported on a Black and Decker Workmate...expect it will spend some time on that during the new owners life!
15. One went last year on eBay for £400 but a 5 string. There's one up at the moment on eBay with a £295 reserve
16. New one arrived today, no issues so new Status flats on, a quick tweak of the neck and good to go!
17. Mike bought a nice Bass from me and it was a pleasure to deal with him. Instant payment, great comms, just as it should be on this forum.
18. On a similar theme, doesn't look much wrong with this for £54: http://www.thomann.d...bass_s_deko.htm
19. I wonder if it would take a forearm and belly contour?
20. I've found the B on the Squier VM Precision I have pretty good, cost less than £250
21. I've always been a Jazz man (albeit a SD active 3 band one) but since I got my VM Precision I'm loving the simplicity and timbre of the sounds one can get.
22. Decking is soo last year...everyone at Chelsea had limestone slabs!
23. Not a huge market for these I would'nt have thought?
