1. Not hijacking this thread because it started off asking about decent tort...... Here's my cheapo, bought Feb 14 HB PJ Bass, you can clearly see how the pattern has worn off due to my thumb resting on it, maybe for 24 hours in total? I've contacted Thomann to see their view of it....
2. I had a Roland Microbass but it did not keep up with amplified acoustic guitars or acoustic drums. There a fairly recent thread about this subject if you can bothered to search for it!
3. "The LOUDEST guitar shaped ACOUSTIC BASS"....its an oxymoron, the qualities you ask for don't go hand in hand unless, as it has been said, you go to Double Bass size.
4.
Maybe Thunderbird should have contacted Thomann but he explained perfectly clearly why he didn't, still no need for such a snotty response from Warwick or some of the posters on here.
"Snotty" ? Don't agree with you Gary. I've re-read the thread and the worst you can say about Warwick is they did not go the extra mile and the info they gave the OP was correct. With regard to freebies for a Bash, as I explained, at least they replied. And as for other posters, they have all been broadly supportive even whilst pointing out Thomann is first port of call with the complaint.
5.
This comes as no surprise. When I was arranging the Herts Bass I contacted lots of companies for donations for our raffle. EB UK, Stuart Clayton and D'Addario all generously donated items and were welcoming and friendly. I contacted Warwick through their Forum and Florin contacted the CEO on our behalf - the outcome was they were not in a position to help out with the event and declined to make any donations - a company that charges over £2,000 for basses can't even afford to give a grass roots event with their target audience a few sets of strings which cost them what?? £10?? I was disgusted TBH. My new policy is not to buy any Warwick products - they probably don't care cos that's pretty much their philosophy... Anybody want to buy a German Corvette??
When I organised the Yorkshire Bass Bashes I asked a very well known British String Manufacturer if they could let me have some strings for our charity prize draw. I heard nothing back from them, not a "sound"......! So I don't think Warwick are the only company who don't give freebies and in their defence, at least they replied!
6. My MIK Pro Series Star Bass should be top left ....
7. Ideal for a Bassist in a Pink Floyd cover band......
8. I emailed the seller asking a few innocent questions.... to no reply I now notice the listing has now been withdrawn!
9. Should be pretty straight forward sourcing a replacement tweeter and it will just be plug n play..?
10. I always prefer the tone of a Gibson to a Epiphany....
11. He's changed the wording now but bizarrely in his reply to me says it's an Energy Bass "according to the paperwork..." I've said it is no such thing!
12. Did he post it on eBay at the same time as elsewhere and not get round to withdrawing it yet perhaps? If you don't hear back from him you could raise it direct with eBay....
13. I had a 5 string in the same colour as the advertiser. I've asked them where the Mark King signature is....!
14.
If acoustic guitar's aren't amplified, you have nothing to fear of. Roland Microcube RX will deliver!
+1- I remember I did an audition a few years ago with a folk band: me with a Microcube and a Stagg upright, they went through a PA and I was hardly able to be heard..did not get the gig !
15. Just what I need, a Bass with enough cup-holders.....
16. The Hartkes have 2 sockets on the back, cheaper ones have jacks, hi-drives have speakons too. Output into 2 cabs will be 500 watts at 4 ohms ( assuming the cabs are 8 ohms cabs).
17. So apart from a hang tag from a Fender not Squier P Bass with a different serial number, the JV serial number dating it between 82 and 84 and the owner claiming it is from 93, it's the real deal? Bargain
18. The voltage thing ( as well as protecting national distributors) was to stop people bringing them over from the USA where the voltage difference would fry it! Europe has never really been an issue. Best prices on MB are with Thomann at the moment....
19. You're welcome to try my 34" 5 Stringer pro series anytime, I'm just up the road from you.....we could just turn it upside down! I have one of the last Pro series Korean Star Basses and it was less than £700 from Thomann this time last year. The construction and finish is exemplary and whilst I have nylon flats on it, you will see on Youtube people slapping them with the original strings on.
20. Could you not just make a template yourself...? Also once you have the main hole then you could use the prong itself to mark the small hole for it.
21. The glued joints for the wings either side of the neck through are hardly discreet and I guess the open grain finish was deliberate...? Wonder if the veteran bassist who valued it had their specs on?
