  1. Didn't know about him until last week when Cory Wong did a video with him. He did some great stuff showing how a basic beat can be altered with tiny changes.
  2. Is a 'dedicated pan' one which follows you around the house?
  3. I look forward to it every week, even if I don't watch the whole interview.
  4. Why don't you forfeit the element of surprise and home print her off a 'Bank of Mum and Dad Bass Voucher' for £XXX, give it to her for her 18th and then get her to do the leg work, and in that way she'll maybe appreciate it more as it will be her choice? I bought both my daughters their cars and they both got Fiat 500's....only because I like Fiat 500's, not because they were necessarily the right cars for them!
  5. A 'Jazz' bass just refers to the pickup configuration and it sounds slightly different to a Precision 'Bass'. If she likes to plough her own furrow and be non conformist there are a host of different shapes and sizes available and £500 is a decent budget for a s/h bass. Have you looked in the classifieds here?
  6. Some good sketches and music too ( Drummer just left his last band being asked for Stick-pics..!)
  7. Has she got a Bass amp ( you mention going for a catalogue combo)? If not, does the budget require a Bass amp and Bass? Nevertheless I'd go with what the music shop suggested, if your daughter is 'hip' she will want a Bass like her heroes and there are plenty of Squier Precision and Jazz basses available around £350 new. A small Bass combo amp can be had for the remaining £150 which will be OK for practice or even a bit more. You may get loads of suggestions following my post so be prepared! Note there a cheaper Squiers called Affinity too. I've randomly selected 2 retailers and the bottom one has a huge range and a 3 year warranty too. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-classic-vibe-60s-precision-bass-laurel-fingerboard-3-colour-sunburst/923635?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjr3R5a349wIVNY9oCR1eEwJ2EAQYAyABEgLicvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-classic-vibe-60s-jazz-bass-fretless-laurel-fingerboard-3-colour-sunburst/923634 https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_rumble_25.htm
  8. I expect many who do it for a living are busy working/teaching or hustling for more work and don't have time ( or even know about) Basschat.
  9. Red Flags? They must be out of shot....?
  10. We had the Post Office litigation but that took years and the legals creamed off most of the settlement....
  11. This leads us neatly back to my original post regarding George Harrison!
  12. As a newbie you will probably not know you need to post it here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/20-amps-and-cabs-for-sale/ You'll need to say 'To Trade only' and there is also a fee to pay to post it too.
  13. 'pic up only'..I thought that was a style of playing.
  14. Not trying to be a killjoy but have you looked at the T&C's( at the top of the thread) for selling on here? Its just if things go wrong you may not have any comeback... 1. Ownership: These forums are for selling USED items only. You must be the owner of the item you're selling.
  15. Cheers, I was so near too. I'll keep a note in the unlikely event of winning, it's not the best photo of him even though I have no idea who is is/was.
  16. Every month I do the Mojo Magazine crossword and usually complete it in around 45 minutes. To do this I use my knowledge and that of the internet and have a variety of tools for incomplete words and clues I do not understand. Since the sad demise of Fred Dellar there's a new compiler and I've managed to complete the last 4 or 5 he's done but still never won anything! Occasionally I ask for help, usually with a photo and today is no exception... It's a picture clue and I literally have no idea who it is although I have the following letters for his name which I am sure are correct: P_A_O ( 5 letters) _ _D (3 letters) Piano Sid/Ted? There are only around 4/5 words that you can make up with those letters but my tool does not do names. So any correct answers gratefully received, if I do win there will be compensation for the first to help! I can only enclose the whole crossword and the photo clue is bottom right , Clue C IMG_20220518_0001.pdf
  17. Tony Iommi was in Tull? I never knew that! (Actually I did as I'm a bit of a player geek)
  18. Noticed 'This is Spinal Tap' was being repeated on the TV and realised I'd never watched it all the way through so recorded it. Sat down to watch it with Mrs YFS and after around 30 minutes she got up and left the room saying 'when it finishes I'll tell you something'....anyway after it finished I asked her what she wanted to say. She explained she'd never got into metal as a teenager during the 60's and 70's and bands like Spinal Tap had passed her by( and she did not like that sort of music anyway). I gently explained it was all a spoof anyway! Moving on to last night at rehearsal with current band. We were looking at 'Handle Me with Care' by the Travelling Wilburys as some low-hanging fruit for the festival set and got to discussing the members of said band. Someone mentioned George Harrison in connection with the Beatles, our bandleader said " You mean George Harrison was in the Beatles, I never knew that'? Mouths dropped.....!
  19. I always love it when people can't spell proffessional, professionall, professional!
