1.
... that's who I'm borrowing it from...
Maybe you could ask them then, and they could bring down some [s]Indonesian [/s]top quality Italian gear...?
2.
If anybody has any suggestions for a 5 string bass which looks 60's ish (as long as it isn't a rick!), and they can bring for me to try I'd be very interested!
Ahem, does this photo tickle your fancy?
3.
Looks like their thumb has broken through the protective plastic film on the scratchplate...bloody slappers!
I have absolutely no recollection of writing that comment...am I a Zombie?
4. You or a Luthier to plug with wood, redrill and re-route the cavity , then you want something similar to the plastic/metal that goes around a pickup selector on a Les Paul type guitar on the upper side. BTW who's nicked all your scratchplate screws..?
5. http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/namm-2014-orange-debuts-ob1-k-bass-amp-592524
6. General rule of thumb is all gauges on US and Mexican Fenders are Imperial.
7. Goes w/o saying if you increase the size of the cavity, you'll need a new cover too. I'd just check very carefully the area you want to increase in size does not impinge on any other area of the Bass, you can take wood away but its very difficult to put it back if you go too far... It's not a big job per se for a luthier but they'd need to make a template. Is the area around the existing cavity flat, if not that makes it more difficult, usually these things are all routed before the body is finally shaped.
8.
Thought I recognised him lurking in the shadows.
Shouldn't that be Jet Harris...?
9. Here's one from the left-field.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNaEM54nfK4
10. When I tell people I have a Warwick Star Bass ( I often just go up to total strangers in Tesco, as you do..) they think it's one of these. I twigged when someone said ," it must be difficult to play sitting down!"
11.
Looking for a cheap jazz for those moments I wanna get a Marcus miller'y, jaco' tone Is the squier classic vibe/vintage modified the best way to go?
Didn't I buy a VM J off you a couple of years ago....!!?
12.
I'm nagging a couple of none members to attend , I'm sure you'll all make them feel at home (after the usual humiliating/painful/degrading initiation ceremony.)
I'll bring a knife, an apron and a goat then....
13.
Update: I will have the new Markbass Stereo Multiamp and a couple of cabs to play with.... very interesting piece of kit!
What with my RJ rig too, maybe I should see if someone from the Markbass distributors will come down...?
14.
My daughter is at cheerleading practice right in the middle, but I might be able to pop up for an hour or so.
Cheers......!
15. What, all that technology and "you may have to tune it when you get it home"? Bloody force is not with you that much then....
16. Right, it's a month to the Bass Bash. Can those of you who have not yet indicated if they are going to come please do , so I can get an idea of numbers please? I've got it at 8 so far.... Re Mark Bass gear, I'll bring my new TTE 500 RJ head and NY 151 RJ cab if people are interested...? Also my Warwick 5 String Star Bass. Re a Guest Speaker, I'm contacting local Luthiers, no confirmed name yet however. Also may have a surprise Bass Importer too....
17. Yes, you pay for the £120 cashback I've had in last year....!
18.
They show them to you in £ on the website, but they charge you the equivalent in € on your credit card.
Warwick Star Bass bought from Thomann: August 8th 2013. Euros 795, UK £ 687 plus £20.29 non sterling transaction fee from MasterCard. When I bought the case from them via Bank Transfer it was an extra £ 6 off the top of my head on £90ish. So unless you have a credit or debit card with free Euro transactions there is extra to pay but not as the OP worried, in VAT/duties.
19.
Just bought a bass from Thomann in Germany, no extra charges apart from VAT John
You got a Euro account then?!!
20. Big upset on LADH at the moment, non USA watchers could not get the most recent update and it appears loads of episodes have been taken out of the archive. Seems DH has sold LADH to MTV or similar and the old backing band have gone? Seen them a few times in the 70's and 80's, last time in the naughties and it was just greatest hits and the Our Kind of Soul album. Not sure I'd pay to see them again when I could hopefully still see LADH!!
21. It'll cost you a little more than that as your Bank will charge you for converting £ into Euros....
22. I was tempted with the TRB 1006, did a bit of research but thought it was a bit steep even at £325. Now been relisted...Don't really need a six as well as 2 Fives...or do I?
23. Expect it was built for a "lonely goat herd"....
