2. Definitely for the slimmer figured bass player.....
3.
where was last years again? andy
Milborne Port near Sherborne.
4. I have started a Dorset and Somerset Bash thread which is pinned above....
5. I had a Truvoice back in the late 70's that was the same inside a different cabinet: got rid of it for a nice new solid state head!
6. Had a JD Roadie Supernatural around 30? years ago and kept on breaking the G strings on it (Golden Optima Strings too)! Touch wood nothing since except on my home-made EUB which has a very dodgy string path....
7.
I remember in the early 90's my brother in law booked The Groundhogs for a gig up in Edinburgh. Only one person turned up. The Groundhogs didn't seem to mind.
Was it Groundhog day?
8. Hi Keith Whilst I'm not suggesting you buy one on my recommendation.. I had one for a short while then sold it to a local working D-Bassist who tells me its the best thing he's ever had sound wise. Here's a link, he's an artist too!: http://www.jamesbudden.co.uk/JBindex.html
9. You could pay for a Private Hire vehicle to collect and deliver it...check they are insured enough mind..! You could try negotiate a price?
10.
Because they are commenting on basses they haven't even seen and presenting information ripped from the vendors websites.
Are you sure, as they all look as if they were photographed identically orientated( that's cos they're from the Far East-boom boom), with the same lighting and backdrop...?
11. I looked through the Basses under £500 section for the relative weights of the different instruments. Some had the weights, others hadn't. Why? Surely if you had them all in to photograph, it takes seconds to hang them on a luggage scale and weigh them all?
12. Got a very nice Zoom B3 from Mark today. Effortless and friendly transaction, buy from or sell to with confidence.
13. They'd suit a certain modifier who sells basses and guitars for people with huge hands...
14. Just one flaw: you could fly over there and back cheaper than the postage.....:£ 735.35! 15. Had a gig this morning at 10 15 a.m. to an entire 1st school audience! They filed in to " Night Train" and we did an original number( Zoot Dukes) where we all got a solo, then "Minnie the Moocher" ( had them all singing hi de hi de hi), "Caledonia", "Choo Choo choo Boogie", and they filed out 15 minutes later to "Tequila". Good job they were too young to look at the lyrics on a few of the tunes......! First chance to use my Gramma Pad on a wooden hollow stage, sounded well good... Funny driving home at 11.15 am. No Kebab or Curry Houses open!
16. I had one of these in the 80's, bought "new" for less than £200 from Promenade who were knocking them out cheap after a trade show. Of course I had to tinker, and bought a chrome control knob and jack socket cover, and cut down the original scratch plate to fit. Can't remember if it was a Mexican mind.....
17. Making your own with a piece of dog bone is cheap as chips.
18. Got my paras back but now got letters missing whe I tpe!! EDIT did the CV fix and all OK now!
19. My first Bass in 1973 was an EB 2, same colour as the OP's too. A little known fact is that the body is exactly the same as the Gibson 335 guitar.
20. as before needs moving to the appropriate lounge
21.
Great stuff. I'll wait for a few replies, then pin this thread. When you have decided the date, please edit the title so that it's clear without the need to read the whole thread.
OK, will do!
22. Due to taking my eye off the ernie balls( I've had a job!), a Bash is not going to be held this year however the suggestion is earlyish next year, either Jan 26 or February 23, both Sundays. What do people think, please state your preference if you are going to come along. Venue same as last year: Queens Head, at Milborne Port, unless more than 20 of you want to come? Any suggestions for alternative venues, dates, organisers, features would be welcomed!
