1. It has been suggested we call it a Dorset and Somerset ( or Somerset and Dorset, I'm not fussed) Bash so if anyone further West wants to have a S.W. or Devon and Cornwall one then that is fine. I think I'll start a separate thread or things will just get messy. Bye! Now pinned at top.
2. As the co-organiser last year I somehow thought it was early on this year, but on checking it was around this date last year! Too late for this w/e and possibly a bit near Xmas now. I'm thinking early next year, say mid Jan: what are people's thoughts?....I know 10 bassists, 10 different opinions! I'll have no trouble with getting the same venue if people are cool with that assuming it's around here. So proposed date if held around here could be Sunday Jan 19th 2014. Thoughts?
3. Plenty on the net for and agin'. got mine a few months ago but not used in anger yet.....
4. Just been re-listening to John Legend and The Roots on "Wake Up", think it was Owen Biddle on bass for that album...
5. T'was a pleasure to be entertained on and off the stage by yourself and Yolanda.( and to meet Axman too!)
6. Axminster is not a huge distance from me so will come along.
7.
I'd like to know who that guy is, massively overpriced, based in the UK but prices everything in US dollars. He had a couple of old Fender parts (tuners) I was after and despite many messages he never replied, which makes me suspect they're all fakes. Like you say, there's someone out there who'll buy it
Think he's in Germany......
8. Expect he has had the wood carbon dated to 1958 and he's recouping some of that cost in his selling price....it's very rare to see something so old in such good condition.
9. Should never use a MarkBass with heavy metal....
10. Or buy the stuff with conductive adhesive, then you don't need to solder at the joints....!
11.
got Rotosound Tru Bass on mine
+1....... on my Godin A5
12. RIP, loved the VU and his early solo stuff too.
13. Now listed as withdrawn due to lost or broken.....
14. Graham kindly helped me out with getting some Gloves (yes, they do Metal ), excellent transaction and great comms. Buy or sell with confidence.
15. 20 years ago £300 quid bought you a lot of bass, but maybe not in this case....
16. You think the maker would be a bit sheepish about that....?
17. The Luthier I worked for was working for well below minimum wage when he worked out the hours he'd put into an instrument vs the price he could charge for it....
18. Got a few Ikea Catalogues ( Yes!) from Chris, well packed and promptly posted: he literally went the extra mile. Buy from/sell to with confidence!
19. A template cut with a jigsaw or small hacksaw and then hand sanded is quite possible but takes longer: using a Router is not childs play even in a proper table and they are not forgiving in the slightest! Possibly one of the most dangerous tools in the workshop. That said, I have an Aldi one but have had no problems with shedding bits in use, just the height adjust locking mechanism gave up. Got another under warranty!
