1.
Always been one of my favourite bands, used to play along to their records in the 70's When I saw them in Leeds both Hamish & Alan Gorrie had identical Acoustic stacks. I already had an Acoustic head but after hearing the I bought a 406 cab which I used for years. About 3 or 4 years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Hamish when he stayed at our house while up North for a gig with Snake Davis
Ha, no-one's going to top that anecdote, Keith!
2. One of my faves from back in the 70's. I remember seeing them a Bibas a hip store, I think on Kensington High Street. It was all Art Deco ( he used to play with Paul Simon). They had a roof restaurant and the gig was up there. About 5 years ago saw the remnants of the band, still with Alan Gorrie and Onnie Mac on Guitar. Interestingly, there is the chart for pick up the pieces on their website if you need to see the dots!http://www.averagewhiteband.com/_musos/_pieces/pieces_bass1.html

4. Here's a few photos of the above as I can't seem to attach them to a PM....!
5.
Not a bad shout. Is there anything I can use to stop the slot getting any deeper? I only want to widen it.
I actually widened the saddle not the nut, which surprisingly was wide enough but the cocktail stick suggestion seems good. If you do deepen it too much superglue and baking power mixed on the slot will build it back up again, google "Stewmac"
6.
No it hasn't.
Thank you Dave...!
7. You'll probably find only the E ( 135) needs widening/deepening. Just did it myself on a new Star Bass yesterday, used a round mini file filing a little at the time on the saddle until the string sat in the groove ( as it was proud before). If you have some old strings of the same gauge, you could use the old E to create the groove( assuming it's not flatwound!) If you don't go mad it should not need any alteration to the saddle height. Don't go near any ebay listings from MDP however unless you want to see how it's not done.... As I had black saddles and the filing turned it to shiny, a black marker returned it to almost new.
8.
Good news on the gig bags. Do I need to let Thomann know I want one and if so how?
It has to be a special order ( cost: 89 euros) so I suggest you email them and say you want one. The only issue with a special order is there is no 30 money back guarantee but the proper gig bag according to Warwick is the RB 20631 B/PLUS Gigbag for Warwick Star Bass so it should fit...! Am I imagining it or have you widened the string spacing a bit on the bridge in your photo? Just waiting for some nylon coated flats for mine...
9.
I'm surprised considering how many of us on here have just taken advantage of the bargain prices on Thomann that I'm the first to post photos of my MiK Pro Series Star Bass: As you might know I'm not a particularly big fan of Warwick basses, but this is absolutely nothing like any Warwick I've played before which for me is a good thing. The gold finish and hardware is absolutely stunning. And it completely looks the part on stage with my band...
Yes, I've got one exactly the same..you've saved me having to photograph it! Incidentally Thomann are getting the fitting Rockbass gig bags in at the end of Sept, on special order if you need one?
10. OK, I'll bite but only if there's gas in the car......
11.
I'm afraid Axminster is in receivership. Will tufted Wilton do.
Absolutely not, there has been a buyout of the Company by local investors and it is back trading, but with a reduced work force and overheads.
12. Thanks for the Status tip, just ordered a set for my new Star Bass 5. Roto's TruBass come with a wacking 140 low B so the Status are a bit more manageable at 130.
13. First question I would ask him is "can I see a photo of the Bass"?
14. This is the gig bag that fits a Star Bass: RB 20631 B/PLUS. Trouble is no-one has them in stock!
15. Any ideas on the current incumbent then? Can't get a message to Andy Irvine on his webpage...
16. Did a search under "Warwick" as well...thanks for your help! Ah, just looking, I assume that is Andy Irvine as he is based in California: there used to be a guy from the UK....anyway, will ask Mr Irvine if he knows....!
17. I seem to remember there was a Warwick Bass Rep signed up with Basschat who would on occasion contribute when the subject of Warwick Basses was mentioned ( if there were any issues). This was a few years ago and the personnel may have changed but if anyone knows who it is or even the rep themself, could they PM me please? Thank you muchly.
18.
Yes all of them, but I only have one half of a Twix and the green Tic Tacs from a carton of orange and lime ones to offer you ................. let me know
Sorry mate, if it had been the orange Tic-Tacs and a whole Twix I'm sure we could have done a deal....
19. Yep, epoxy can take a lump of wood off with it when you prise it apart. Having watched an experienced Luthier struggle to take off many a Martin and Gibson neck with steam injected into the fingerboard around the neck joint, you wouldn't want to make it even more difficult with epoxy. Like I said, if you are concerned about a well glued joint, Titebond is actually stronger than the wood it glues, once set.
20.
unlike Mike Pedulla, awful backup, lousy customer service, I had two Pedulla's at the time, because of his attitude I sold both of them.
and Rick Turner strung me along for 2 years with promises!
21. Titebond is what Luthiers use, the reason being it is stronger than wood once set but can be taking apart again with the application of steam. Anything acoustic will eventually need the neck resetting so glue and clamp!
22. Oh crap. Got an attack of GAS last night and just pulled the trigger on a Gold 5er this morning. Still if it does not suit, it can always go back to Thomann. I may be having a fire sale soon, anyone want a Stagg EUB, Godin A5 and Squier VM 5?!
