1. Just had a pop-up saying 16 people are visiting this listing per hour..and going away horrified! "Raygunrelics" indeed.
2.
It's a date - see you back here in 2019 :-)
I may be a woman by then but will change my name to Mrs Yorks5stringer for you to avoid any unnecessary uncertainty.....
3. Thought the redoubtable Mr Hall would have had that ad pulled?
4. I raise you this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Modified-Yamaha-RBX170-Fretless-Electric-Upright-Bass-EUB-/261201325858?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3cd0cfef22#ht_760wt_1255 Up sh*t creek I think...?
5. A good time to sell it, just after the London Marathon.....
6. I'm more impressed with the grass top to his garden bench TBH!
7. You would think having been swallowed by a whale it would have some damp issues...?
8. Hopefully the next contribution to this thread will be in another 6 years!
9. Yes, it occurs to me rather than filing the bridge and putting in grooves, I could take a little off the underneath to the same effect. I rather like making nuts from bone so will get some in and make copies now before I make them smaller!
10. So £1000 for the Oasis autographs and £150 for a no name guitar? It's not exactly a hard sell is it? Beaten to the bell!
11. A bargain at £850 just for the rose petals....
12. Here's a thing: changed from 40-125 Bronze Strings on my Godin 5er to 65-135 Tapewound Rotosound Truwounds. My big issue is the B string, literally. I've had to gently widen the nut with a round file (MDP take note) so that the string sits in the slot ( rather than on top of it) but as the photos show with additional thickness of the string, I've got a nearly 2mm gap between the string at the 1st fret and almost 4mm at the final fret! The rest of the strings are fine actionwise, so not worth tweaking the truss rod, but do I.... 1. File some more out the nut so the B string sits lower and /or 2. File a groove in the bridge too? It's a piezo bridge, the plastic bit does lift out so I would not damage the piezo by filing a groove. I'm conscious that once I do 1&2 above I can't go back to thinner strings, so do I buy another nut and bridge or if I do go back, build up the amount taken out with epoxy ? Currently the B string is almost unplayable as it is so high so something needs to be done. What would you do please?
13. There's a big dint in the top corner mind.....!
14.
I wonder what the neck looks like? Underline!!!! How do I get it off!!!!! It has its own mind!!!!!
Hit the underline symbol (3rd from left, next to B and I just above this box when in reply mode)!!
15. Good job it wasn't an old body worth something...
16. All copies, some better than others, and add 25-30% extra on top for import duty/VAT/handling.
17. In a rush to get some strings late at night I ordered them off a US Seller unintentionally. The strings cost £25, the postage £7.25 and now I have had a card from Postie saying they want a further £13.25 off me! The strings are £38 here! Is there anything I can do other than pay more attention in future and "suck it up"?
18. Must have had a stright one for 5 years, never a pop out of place!
19.
I decided against the Mark Bass in the end, not because of where it is made, (the TC amp is also made in China) but rather because I had read of problems with repairs/service etc with MB gear in recent times.
You clearly did not read about the recent recall on TC's then !
20.
What are the different between the Markbass Backline 250 and the Markbass Little Mark 250? LM250 cost around £100 more. I use to own the LM250 and it doesn't sound/look like a beginner's amp, it just lower wattage thats all.
Same amp and output, just made in Indonesia and a different colour. They have dropped the Italian made LM250 in yellow now.
21. Could be worth a punt at less than £50 just for the novelty value? "LIst/street value $1150" ........Ebay sale £46! Must be losing my marbles, the neck profile will be squarish and one would be running your palm along the strings of the guitar to play the Bass.
22. Still waiting for the Mothers Day Chocs posted the week before Mothers Day....!
23. Ii've got a Godin 5 String (fretted), no issues with feedback as it doesn't have a soundhole. Just about to string it with nylons to give it a deader sound, currently on bronzes. The earlier ones without the fancy electronics are quite reasonable now, given they were c£1500 new. Seem them below £400. Had a quite expensive c £300 Crafter 5 String around 10 years ago with a soundhole, unplayable due to feedback with a band! Also terrible B string, just could not intonate it at all. Remember as has been said, you have no adjustment either with height or string length that you would normally get on an electric bass bridge. However the Godin intonates fine across all strings.
