1.
and that piccy shows it's proper binding too
I stand corrected, but how can proper inlays and binding look so "transfer" like...? In fact I'm going to go and closely look at mine again! .......Well in the cold light of day, what looked shiny and ersatz is in fact "proper job"!
2. Yes, I saw that and will be extending my Sub as soon as the new edition comes...also a bonus if you do it by D/Debit as you get an extra issue free so 13 for the price of 12! The stand comes in at around £14, the cable £6, not sure about the Tuner so maybe around £25 worth?
3.
{ahem} edit: just tried to upload a photo of a Thumb but my computer went MENTAL...
Is your Thumb "loads easier to finger"....?
4. My recently acquired VM Squier 5 String ( and my old 4 String) has the black "inlays", but they are definitely a transfer and not a proper inlay. They are/were both quite weighty and I concur with the pick-up comment, my next job will be some better pickups.
5. No expert but would'nt a Rockbass $$ say "Rockbass" on the headstock? Seems a huge price disparity otherwise?
6. Yes, be sure you don't buy a fake.....
7. Looks like a 55/45% wool blend to me......
8. [sub]Without wishing to appear pedantic, is it actually Leather? The listing calls it Leathertex and when I look at the price, it can't be real leather, can it?[/sub] [sub]Just seen you have called it leatherex in your review....[/sub]
9. I'd like to thank my Producer Peter Jackson, my Publicist Max Clifford, The BBC, my wife and family and finally of course, all my fans......
10. The obvious solution would be a Mark Bass Bass Tube Marker pedal.....! http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=193
11. Need to be pretty sure to punt a grand on it considering it's been carved about.....
12. So the earlier ad says it's a 1961 pre CBs Precision. Suppose I buy it and then it turns out to be a bitsa, do I have right of return as item is misrepresented? (All hypothetical BTW)
13. 70 views and no-one else thinks it's odd? Maybe it's me then....?
14.
Just a thought...If I were to fill the slots in with a filler, or laminate for that matter, how should the neck be when I do it? Sould I leave the tension on or do I loosen the truss completely? Thanks, Adam
Not sure but the guy from Stewmac (US Luthier supplies) removes the frets with the neck in a backward bow, so they come out easily. On second thoughts, maybe you'd want your neck set up as if it it was ready to play, mind a little truss rod tweak should not cause any issues...?
15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RED-FLAME-TOP-5-STRING-STRING-BASS-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-WITH-GREAT-SOUND-VARIATION-/360550228136?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item53f277e0a8 The guy selling it has a guitar shop ( maybe online) so why not advertise it for what it is? Mind, he is a Mackem....
16.
Putting my Detective NancyJohnson hat on, if you look at some of his past eBay purchases, he bought a Jazz bass pickup cover (or possibly more than one). I suspect he's probably just changed the cover. P
Why? Cos it looks good?!!
17. Don't know if it will work but in the £1 Shops you can get a set of 3 marker pens for covering scratches in wood. They are 3 different colours and you can build up the colour, letting each coat dry first.
18. Contemplating modding a Jazz Bass to active. This will entail the usual 2 volumes and 1 tone changing to 1 volume, 1 balance and a stacked t&b pot. Lying in bed thinking about this ( as you do), on the original Fender system you could have say volume 8 on your neck pickup, volume 3 on your bridge pickup and something between 1-10 on the tone. With an active system you end up blending the volume on the 2 picups (unless you are at either extremity of the pots parameters) but the tone also has the advantage over the original system with seperate pot for both t&b. Is my presumption regarding the active controls correct assuming I go for the 2 Band active circuit and does it make a great deal of difference to the character of the Bass?
19.
I think that it's something he does automatically. If he has two Basses in with two pick-ups each, he will swap one over. I think he thinks that it makes it look as though he's done something and if he's gone to the trouble it must be an improvement, right?
Yes, the one he took off will turn up on a 7 string guitar or something: let's look out for it!
20. No clue on the PJ Bass why he replaced the stock black rear pickup with a white one.....
21. I got this 5 Stringer as a second chance offer having been too slow to up my bid due to glacial net connection.
22. Got to laugh at the Q&A, someone has suggested they removed the scratch plate( to see if there is a makers mark), the vendor says they dont know what that is but they tried to remove the scews on the back ( for the neck) but they would'nt budge!
23. They clearly don't know anything about the instrument: they talk about "a battery charged controller" for playing it electrically!
24.
Does that involve a drummer?
Actually for any fan of the show, at the Cheesecake Factory there's often a Jazz Bass stood on the stage......
