1.
'waynepunkdude' That 7 string thing really pisses me off. MB1. "I knew I should have got you a Hmv gift voucher!"
Better than a Comet gift voucher....
2. I've been trying to buy a certain specific type of Bass for around a week and are having two frustratingly slow exchanges with two different sellers. On both occasions I've been able to see that they were online yet they have not responded to outstanding PM's whilst online. Is it that they don't see that little red envelope symbol or am I just being impatient? I've resorted to putting " Pm'd" on the actual For Sale thread to try and alert them.
3. Check out post #191: he's going to be doing a column in BGM...... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/180696-bass-guitar-magazine-editor/page__st__180
4.
Deal ! I'll PM you my PP address (gift transfer only please ) !
Would you accept 35p now I've slept on it?
5. I'll give you 50p for your original post..... If something is less than £200 and well priced when buying I tend not to haggle, have bought stuff on here at over £400 and negotiated 10% off. If someone when buying something under £200 from me pays full price I've often paid the insurance for them myself.
6. On closer inspection, it looks as if the back of that neck is all flattened in places where the finish has been taken off too far. Even if it is correctly profiled it looks rubbish- Road Worn? More like Road Torn....
7.
Thanks very much for all the positive support! We've posted similar ads elsewhere only for some acomplished bassists to turn up, thinking we were being ironic- we soon put them straight! We remain convinced that somewhere near Leeds there is bassist who's fed up with playing with themselves in their own bedroom and thinks it might be more fun playing with others.
You definitely need a failed guitarist...!
8.
Yeah, precisely. We're limited to some extent by the platform. Even the classifieds add on was a third party 'hook' made by someone to fit into the software. Unless we hire our own person to totally code something from the ground up, these bolt-ons are never going to suit us perfectly. This has been proven in the feedback thus far about the new section. So do we all like the sound of a single payment for a one off advert and the option of a single yearly payment?
As we all know we can discuss this till the cows come home..... and go back out again! So single payment or option of annual fee seems more than fair.
9.
Thanks chaps, all points read and noted. The mag has tons more cheap bass reviews in it now and we're about to begin a bass restoration column, both ideas gleaned from you lot. Cheers!
Looks like MDP is getting a column then...?
10. Reading between the lines, the Buyer has sent it back, so he's dusted it down, turned up the guffometer and added some more non grammatical gibberish and off he goes again. "Solid partially road-worn body"- plywood body that someone has tried to strip, realised it was plywood and stopped. It's only "road-worn" if the "road" resembles a Black and Decker sander Mark.....
11. That piece of wood definitely fell from the ugly tree and notice the high quality gibson/epi bridge too... Still for £77 I'm sure MDP will turn it around!
12. It's probably been covered in the other thread... but how would a mains lead for Europe w/o a fuse fit a UK socket? Don't those adaptors have a fuse in them anyway?
13. Mike has just bought a Squier VM 77 Jazz Bass from me, super quick payment and friendly comms. Buy from and sell to with confidence!
14. Just thinking about the posters preference for a sealed box....I always understood most mass produced guitar/bass manufacturers always set the instrument up a little high to compensate for shipping, warehousing and hanging in a shop. A quick tweak of the truss rod then settles it in nicely?
15.
I played this at the bass bash and really liked it. Did you ever have a go at my black 5 string Bass Collection? I've decided to sell that and buy a cheap jazz you see...
No you mentioned it before the Bash and I never got round to it, that's the trouble when you organise, you spend the time afterwards looking at the photos and thinking "why did I not try that...?"
16. John you are a star! Having being asked its weight, I can declare 9lb 15 oz and it's a boy called Keith....
17. Sorry, was unable to load photos in the usual way: need to work out how to do those snazzy short links that say "photos here"!
18. My question exactly, could not see an answer so just done a belt and braces!
19. Nice Jazz Bass for silly money just before Christmas. It's standard apart from the addition of the Pearloid scratchplate: unlike many others there is no woodworm in the body where all the different holes have been placed, this scratchplate fits the existing holes! The original black scratchplate is enclosed too. Condition is good, I've highlighted the following only because I tend to be a bit anal about declaring stuff and so there are no surprises for the new owner! Headstock: a tiny dint on the inside back corner, probably caught a cymbal! Bottom lower edge: 3 or 4 tiny scuffs, done putting into gig bag. Middle bottom edge: 3 plec scratches done by previous owner and not declared! None of these flaws have gone through to the wood, are in reality very minor and the back as pictured has no buckle rash . I'll put it in a single ply gig bag, loads of bubble wrap and sealed wooden box for UK postage or will be up in London a week on Sunday-Tuesday.
