1. My Band, (The Green Street Band) are playing Woods Wine Bar this Sat Evening starting around 9.00 pm. Any Basschatters in the area are welcome (if free) to come and say " Hello"! We do funky soully, bluesy covers stuff..Little Feat meet Ry Cooder via Bill Withers....
2. Someone has bought it on trust then, not even a photo of the headstock to go by....
3.
...... and Matt Allwrigh - the smarmy one from Rogue Traders off the TV. Not the other one who was jailed for fraud (ironically).
Saw him playing the guitar on the One Show the other night.....so is that where the Portugese guy went to ( just checked Benefit Fraud!)
4. Have to laugh at him saying "do not ask me to sell it outside of ebay but you may find it on Gumtree"! It's up for £1400!
5. As I keep telling anyone who will listen...my print debut was in the Mark King Issue where I wrote a lengthy and fairly turgid article about my Jaydee Supernatural Roadie Bass and enclosed a rather embarrassing (now) photo showing my arse cheeks in a mock-up of a Roadie complete with bottle of Brown Ale! The photo is even worse than it sounds!
6. Something tells me she hasn't really got the hang of ebay advertising yet....
7.
E to E?
Yep, they were "long strings"......
8. Seen them on the bay...distressed but just a take on a p or J bass.
9. "microbe of relief to keep the long strings ringing clear." as opposed to the short strings?
10.
For the tone.
Next you'll be telling me they have Windows [s]too[/s] 2
11.
I don't think it would've been product placement in this case as they only sell to the commercial market and it had been stripped of any badges or anything, I only recognised it because of it's pop-up door.
Barefaced have a pop-up door...what does that do?
12. Could have been worse, it could have been chapter after chapter about how he got drunk/high with the well known leaders of the bands he played with.......!
13. He lives in Surrey from what I remember, lost his job during the programme but then got another. House is worth £900k now....
14.
Again if this was Talkbass I would berate you for your humour then post a picture of my boutique fanned-fret 8 string basses (bonus points if I can somehow include a picture of myself wearing a Hawian shirt playing my $500,000 rig at some backyard BBQ gig).
and I would call you a freakin jerk and post photos of top totty at my last gig, one of whom with tasteful tats is my girlfriend.....
15.
I think this humour is too subtle for the Talkbass forum. Try that joke over there and prepare to be flamed, then shown pictures of expensive booteek fretless Precision basses in turn...
Speaking of which, when i signed up on there I waited for weeks, nay years and my Bass has not said a word to me yet....
16. Huge marketplace, no import duty and low transport fees, no VAT, etc etc.....! Also the home of Pink?
17. Well Flea has his own range of Basses, now so has George Benson....
18. You doing any "Badfinger" covers...? "Come and Get it" was always one of my favourites!
19.
that is the worst repro logo ever. shocking
Looks like it has been burnt on like branding cattle!
20.
It's not that the tuners wouldn't all have fitted in line, it's that the edge of the baseplate would have gone beyond the edge of the headstock, leaving the fixing hole on the very edge of the wood, if not over the edge. It's the classic mistake.
The bottom line is he used too large a footprint tuners on his "vintage bass" and consequently had to spin one around. This has, to use his own title " improved it". Still don't understand how he "honed" the jack socket, surely that would make it larger?
21. Dear Lord...... he makes a point of how vintage it is ( 1968) then sticks on brand new elephant ears tuners and one at a jaunty angle to boot. I bet he was hacked off to find they would'nt all fit in a line so "trusting to his own beliefs and instincts" he bodged a fix. The only surprise, given his total lack of awareness around what he does and says about the instruments he " works" on, is that he didn't boast about the naffness of it! P.S. The usual spurious guff about tone and action are omniprescent!
