1. It's the power of positive [s]persuasion[/s]bullshit....
2. I see they have done exactly what they did with the EB2 ( which had the same body as a 335) by basing it on the equivalent chambered Gibson guitar. Yep, I had a 62 EB2 in the late 70's and all I wanted to do was play funk, so it went for £120.......!
3.
Who is Mark D Phillips ??
He is the source of great wisdom in all things Luthiering....http://basschat.co.uk/topic/184791-hes-now-into-decal-design/
4. I've got a 5 String Jazz body plywood template ( from when I built my Bass with Jon Shuker). Happy to stick it on a piece of lining paper and send it to you. Its the one on the left.....!
5. There's a Jazz ( wrongly described as a Precision) in the other items too. Makes you wonder how much they know about what they sell...?
6. I felt quite short-changed when I saw them years ago, what happened to the two other members....?
7.
I am so tempted to email him to ask if he can dress my frets and see what his reply is like. I bet even the simplest tech terms will confuse him. Or better still, make up my own tech terms and see if he understands what I am asking him.
I wonder if they "dress" to the right or the left...?
8. I heard the drumming was laid down by one of the trumpet players...
9. Am I imagining it, sure it was £177 on BIN , now its £207?
10. Having bitched long and hard about MDP's quasi-Luthiery, it's good to see something less bullsh*ting.....however having stared into that hole in the middle of the photo for 30 minutes, I'm still none the wiser about the amp!
11. Still the usual mix of ill-informed techo-bollocks laced with quasi sales hyperbole. What's a Jazzbass? Where's the head of a Bass? What's a milimicrobe (totally incorrect scale to measure the gap with). Then contradicts himself by correctly ( for once ) pointing out the fretboard should not be level anyway. Just in case you were aware, you should pluck the Bass by the bridge. BMW Black touch-up, I guess that car paint is the correct paint for a poly finished Bass? Should have stuck with Reliant Robin Black.... The string lengths intonated OK..again not the way you'd describe it "I checked the intonation and it was OK" maybe? He talks about sloping the pickup to compensate for the thicker E string:"the object being to make the volume from the 2 strings the same" Last time I looked the Bass in his photo has 4 strings, presumably you'd want to equalise all 4? master guitar fixer.....nuff said! Oh, almost forget about how daylight has mellowed the tone of the head and neck and how it sings like a bird or grumbles like a bear and the " couple of bruises" (more like a dozen).
12. Here's my Squier with Pearlescent Pick Guard to match the inlays.
13. Just dropped a Chapman Stick, it did not do what it said on the tin....
14. I watched the Richard Thompson prog when I got in from seeing the Plainsong Farewell gig tonight. Weird, as I'd just seen Julian Dawson in the flesh and there he was with RT. Mark Griffith was on very tasty fretless Bass with Plainsong, his other claim to fame apart from playing with everybody since Cliff and far beyond is that he is the man behind the Sue Ryder Bass and other guitars!
15. This isn't you is it?:http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186774-the-hardest-working-bass-in-rock/
16. I'm having to quell the waves of nausea as I type this!
17. GIve me good old feet and inches, we never got confused when I was a lad.....
18. Just unwrapped a brand new Ritter this morning, imagine my disappointment, it was chocolate.
19.
i could marry that
Yes, look it's pretty stacked too....
20. Well it went for £23, notice it was sold as "seller refurbished", you don't think imitation is the sincerist form of flattery....(MDP alert)?
21.
I notice that he gives an RRP in the auction. Wonder what retailers would sell his works of, er, summat?
Given the choice of this or say a new NS upright EUB for £800...well it would be difficult!
22. Pedant alert...why would you buy something and then put it in the loft immediately? ( unless it was loft insulation)!
