2.
Worse stil, we could have been in the shower with York5stringer.
Just for that quip, I may just pop down and see you!
3. [sup]Don't worry, " the Bass is adveretised elsewhere" so I'm sure he'll sell it off ebay....[/sup]
4. Quite a nice little interview with him in Sept's BGM......
5.
Wouldn't buy a £7k bass on the strength of a magazine review, and I wouldn't buy a £300 one either. However there is a good chance of me being able to find the £300 one in my local musical instrument emporium where I could play iy for myself and then decide if it was worth buying without needing to read a review. For the £7k one there's a good chance that the review is the closest I'd come to seeing one. However if I liked what I saw and read I might want to make the effort to track one down and play.
I believe Bass Gear at Twyford are the UK stockists
6. Just FIO to the neersayers who have not seen the Sept Edition, BGM also review a £300 Musicman Sub Bass as well.
7. Have you tried Googling? I've just done it and loads have come up including some that were sold on here!
8. Someone could use a surface that abrasive to "file the frets nice and smooth".....
9. As the master would say " a small engineering bodge"....!
10.
Ahem... http://www.blogger.c...429530833375584 Love what he's written to round off his "favourite music"... CB

Ahem... http://www.blogger.c...429530833375584 Love what he's written to round off his "favourite music"... CB
His profile could explain a lot ( microlight flyer hit by a lorry) although I can't see that selling bodged guitars for £139 is going to put much food on the table for his new bride and kiddy. Still good to know he's going to be out of the UK in September.....!
11. If you had met me you'd know I don't need a P**** Enlarger!
12. Cheap if it is genuine although obviously not original
13. [sub]"The truss rod worked nicely to bring the neck concavity to a few microns off dead flat, and the tonality adjusted easily with the bridge adjustment."[/sub] [sub]No, a "few microns off flat" is not what a neck should be , it should have relief or a slight curve to allow the string to vibrate without choking[/sub] [sub]"Tonality adjusted with the bridge"- [/sub][sub]I think you mean INTONATION, a totally different word.[/sub] [sub]EPIC FAIL![/sub]
14. Where does he get a RRP of £800 from? Also I laughed at how he gets around it not having any tone or volume controls..." plug and play". Obviously he has seen the success of MDP and decided to jump on the bandwagon ( although in his case the wagon would not have any wheels....)
15. Cumbernauld....isn't that a type of sausage?
16. Only if he has the time and inclination to read them. His adverts and their claims speak for themselves and close scrutinity of the accompanying photos shows he has scant understanding of the setting up an instrument. Sledgehammer and Nut(!) are phrases that spring to mind... Stil,l he has become a legend to many of us on this thread and we eagerly await his next offering!
17. I particularly like the way the rear of head stock has been " roadworn": just looks rubbish. Interesting how someone thinks a £100 Bass that has had £100? worth of antiqueing is now worth £300...what's that saying about " you can't polish a t*rd"?
18. He's so good they named the EUB after him.....
19. I know the seller and have given him a nudge re the price. Although a newby, he's kosher ( Plays keys and guitar in a band with me)
20. Its been pulled now though when I emailed the seller he insisted it was genuine and he'd bought it from a Hampshire Music Shop complete with Fender tags. I pointed out genuine MM did not have a 2 piece scratchplate made up of a Jazz one and a semi circular bit stuck on at the bottom etc etc. The single string tree looked wrong for a 5er as was the serial number too.
21. Yes, I got sold that line to when I bought my LMII 4 years ago from mainland Europe and its never missed a beat. The voltage thing is a red herring, as someone else has said, our voltage here can vary considerably. Its even possible to convert a US 110V MB to UK voltage by just moving some wires so i don't think the voltage regulator ( for want of a more technical term) is market unique. Re the cutting out, I think its a known issue, I remember a huge thread on Talkbass some years ago when MB first hit the US
