  1. Quite a slick and expensive promo, wondering why he did it although they do have a Tour upcoming?
  2. Thanks, can't think why I do not have that size as it is the same as US Fenders. I also got a reply from Nordstrand (as below) and realised its a T5 too, and I do have a set of T's already!

Sold a Star Bass to Barrie. Swift payment, great comms. and helpful arrangements around dropping the Bass off to him via a third party. Thanks, Keith.
  4. Just picked up a Surf Green one on Friday. Sorted out the slightly loose volume control ( knob prised off, tighten nut, knob pushed back on) and all is fine. Lots of fun, especially with the Mute pushed in! I've got huge hands but have no issues with the neck even though I have a Telecaster Bass with a neck twice the width ( slight exaggeration!). Anyone know the size of the allen key for the bridge saddle grub screws? Have been through every allen key I've amassed playing Bass for nearly 50 years and none fit....
  5. This may have been covered ( no, I did not read the whole thread) but I'm sure I remember someone with a heavily spalted piece of timber for bass building coat it in layers of epoxy to strengthen it?
  6. I contacted Private Eye ( as a subscriber) about this topic giving links etc and did not even get an acknowledgement!
  7. its getting longer

  9. Tis true, it says 'write a public message' despite it looking like sending a PM. Confusing to say the least......

Whats on my mind? A breach of my privacy for one thing!!

  11. Why do my private messages to another member get posted on the sodding updates? How frikken rude...

NO!! It’ll only end up in politics and get thread locked… 🤔

It's a flaw in the system. It's been highlighted several times.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, one day someone is going to post something that was meant to be private as a status update that will be more than just embarrassing for the individuals concerned.

  12. Hi Sonia

Just scored myself a pre-loved Acinonyx in Surf Green. I wanted to tweak the bridge saddles a tad and found that none of my collection of Allen keys garnered over a 50 year bass career fit the custom Hipshot  bridge! Would you be so kind as to tell me what size those pesky allen bolts are please? Apart from a slightly loose volume control which I have now tightened back up, there are no other issues with it. Oh, and loving playing with the NordyMute too!

    Cheers

sorry I missed this but I sent you an email answering your questions!  I never head over here.  I need to put this on my rotation!!

  13. Bought a Nordstrand Acinonyx Bass from Paul. It was exactly as described( perfect) and he went out of his way to meet me so I did not have to drive right into London. I'm only sorry I could not stop and chat....! He is highly recommended. Cheers Keith

  15. When I had this issue and used witch hazel I went for Hazel O'Connor....
  16. From TB I think they share a 30.75" scale length with their Guild namesakes. The confusion as to whether either one has a "short" or "medium" scale length arises from the extra distance between the bridge saddles and string anchor points (when compared to, say, a Fender Precision or Jazz bass). Because of this, some string sets for these basses must be medium-scale rather than short-scale in order to keep the silk wrappings out of the nut slots. The same holds true for Fender Mustang Basses (the new "PJ" excepted) because of their "string-through" bridge design. That said, I must admit that I've never owned or even played a DeArmond Starfire (only Guilds), so someone with more intimate knowledge than myself self will probably chime in later to either confirm or refute the above. http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html
  17. I posted in the Wanted this time last week and also put a Bass up for sale in the Classifieds. On Wednesday I had someone offer me the Bass I was after and another person offered to buy the Bass I was selling too! What's even better they both live reasonably close to each other so I'm driving up on Friday to drop off mine and pick up the new one, so not having to worry about Couriers jumping on the Basses! Proof both Wanted and For Sale works ( for me)!
