1.

I thought that comment was aimed at me and was being a bit sarcy!
2. When finished it should be "smokin"...!
3. Was he the bassist with Melody Gardot? I think he was with her last year at the Lowry when I saw her, she also had the german guy on cello back then too. When he ( cello) played with the full band he was doing pizzicato stuff but he did a few things with just her and he was quite innovative ( to me..) Just had a look on her website, the new album is not out till later this month. If it was Charnett Moffett at the Lowry he had some chops....
4. Hilarious, liked the way he rhymed "excuses" with "wild gooses" too
5. [sub]Previewing this thread read "Squarepusher is a sh*t" so upon reading it's less controversial than I thought![/sub]
6.
i can't try a different cab, because i don't have one! PS and was that a rickenbacker hating joke? i used a stingray and a thunderbird, they all do the same thing, just the ricky was in the room when i filmed it
!
7. "But a lot of back problems stem from shooting up at an early age "
8. Should not be a charge if it's clearly faulty. It's their responsibility to collect it and replace with new.Tell them you need a replacement ASAP. PS I thought all Rickenbackers sounded like that! Have you tried it through a different cab?
9.
They pay the elephants peanuts!
If you pay peanuts you get [s]monkeys[/s]
10. +1 re the neck bolts and a paper template for the tuners will ensure any measuring errors don't occur ( assuming you have a similar sized headstock to copy)
11. I understand that this edition was very much quickly put together to ensure the new owners had something out there ASAP. One hopes the new editor will have the promised resources to make the magazine more accessible to all ( whatever that means?). I read Car Magazine and am as much interested in the new Fiat Panda as its more illustrious cousin, the Ferrari. To be fair to BGM, they have reviewed quite a lot of entry level stuff over the last few editions (Vintage etc) and I guess you can only review what the manufacturers send you (unless you are Which Magazine). I don't know anything about the economics of running a magazine but I would have thought the adverts bring in more money than the cover price, given that they are sold on a sale or return basis to the big chains. Yes, there are subscribers like myself but that money all went to the last owners! So going back to adverts/review copy, do you go for the cheaper end of the market where stuff maybe does not need a good review to sell, or do you go for buyers who have a greater disposable income? The elephant in the room is there too in digital so unless you have a pay to enter firewall, there are loads of free reviews out there too.
12. Not experienced a Gator case but have to say feet have come off my Hiscox and it has cracks too although this has not affected the internals.
13. Depending on what you order there may be taxes levied by customs so factor that into your prices....
14.
Well this is my first introduction to this lot and I love it. I also don't know the original song or any of the other songs they have covered but musically I love what they are doing. I love the Britany cover they do. Great musicians.
You must be the only person in the country who has not heard Adele's "Rolling in the deep" then!
15. I play a Stagg and had resigned myself to the fact it doesn't "look or certainly sound like a Golf"! However a respected local DB player asked if he could use it at a Jazz jam we were at and to my ears it sounded just like him playing his DB. . The point I'm making is I guess quite a lot is down to good DB technique and having decent strings ( not that mine were!). I'm sure others will comment further
16. Missed Later but the CD arrived last Friday and have enjoyed it. Think the bassist plays just right, less is more!
17. I had a smaller HK system, 600 watts with a central sub and two satellites and found in the smaller venues we used to play the sub and drums vyed for the same space. Very nice sound however. No experience of their more powerful ( and quite expensive systems) however.
18.
One company who might have labelled their inputs more accordingly was Carlsbro. On my old Cobra head it said "Low Gain" & "High Gain" as opposed to the usual "Passive" & "Active".
I have mine labelled "passive" and "aggressive".................
19.
Have yet to see the copy I'm due in the post - normally arrives about the middle of the month
Everything is apparently delayed now as BGM was sold to the new owners over the w/e. If any subscription gifts are outstanding I'd contact the previous owners, they may have some stuff left over! Linky:[email protected]
20. Been to Jam sessions where guitarists have used charts on i-phones....!
21.
What's the issue with tattoos?
None, it was irony as every issue has someone complaining about something! On a positive note, it would appear the new owners will honour exisiting subscriptions, but I have asked them to ensure on all photos of tatooed artists, these are obscured with peel off tape.....
22. [sub]Just got back from the casualty department...in an effort to improve my singing and get down wiv the kidz,I decided I would copy Willis Earl Beal and sing with a tooth pick in my mouth.[/sub] [sub]Whilst getting to the Chorus of "Born under a bad sign", I managed to swallow said toothpick and started to choke.[/sub] [sub]One 999 call later I had it removed and will stick to sucking fisherman's friends in future.....[/sub]
