1. Yes, it sold out around Christmas when the tix first came on sale.
2. Any Bc'ers going to this gig, there are 2 shows that night, not sure which one I'm at.....?
3. Most music shops can order Stagg spares, I got a new piezo pickup for my Stagg
4.
Definitely interested, please do report back. I know! Ridiculous. And they wonder why they're thought of as Harrogate's poor sibling. Get a train station, Ripon, you pre-Victorian weirdos.
Has a Catherdral mind, and a canal.......!
5. I'd be happy to edit the title of this thread so it brings it a bit more into 2012...any suggestions?
6. 6 pages of debate about this thread means that George Harrison will never come on again......
7. I guess he could be flying in......in his Led Zeppelin?
8.
John Paul Jones To Appear On Manson Guitars Stand At London Bass Guitar Show We are delighted to announce that the legendary John Paul Jones will be making an appearance at this year’s show. The Led Zeppelin bass superstar will be appearing on Manson Guitars stand (number D5) at approximately midday for just one hour on the Sunday. John will be available to meet and greet fans and talk about his 5 star rated John Paul Jones signature bass, which will be available for purchase at the show! This is a rare chance to meet a living legend, so make sure you get to the Mansons stand for his appearance from 12:00 to 13:00. http://www.londonbas...et-tickets.html
Will he be picking people up in his Roller?
9. I used to insure my gear and PA but to be honest only so we got the Public Liability Cover as basically if there was a "d" in the name of the day, you were not covered! I was always tempted to leave my gear in the car, in my locked garage when we had 2 consecutive gigs but always moved it inside, just in case....!
10.
Probably gone now but there was a pub in Worcester where the door to the passage into the ladies toilet was at the back of the stage area. Was a great way to break the ice .
Used to play a pub In Bradford where i'd have to move aside so women could get through to the ladies door.
11. Just like to point out I did around 20 gigs in Bradford last year and in some fairly dodgy pubs and never had my car touched. 2 weeks living in genteel Dorset and some lowlife has keyed it. A band I'm auditioning for in Dorset next week had all their gear stolen from a van outside the guys house late last year. and Bradford's a dive....?
12. The article talks about a bitza made from a sunburst and a "sea form stratocaster" . That must be even more rare.....!
13.
Grab the mike and take the pee. You will probably find over time they will do it less and less
Yeah, and I remember where that got me when I used a radio mike......
14. Might be best not to replicate Jamersons's recording technique of lying on his back however! The ND backing singers may object.....?
15. Just to warn you if you go ahead, then decide it's not for you and sell it on ebay, there will be a thread on here saying something like"look what that silly bugger has done to his epi tbird...."
16.
Old thread resurrection alert! I pulled the trigger on this last night. I blame Billy Connolly, I was in the theatre waiting for him to come on stage, if he had arrive on time, 8pm, I would never have bought this at 8:05pm. This will be my first DB, is it a worthwhile purchase at this price, have I done right or have I done wrong?
I hope you didn't heckle him for being late......!
17. Yes please! I've been down to an open mic session at the Plume in Sherborne and met a few muso's from the house band, and sat in myself!
18. Based near Sherborne but willing to travel, I offer 4 and 5 string electric bass,BV's and 4 string upright. Also got full 1.2k PA and lights. Prefer Jazz, Soul, Blues but happy to play anything. 40 minutes from Salisbury too! PM me for more details!
19. Like some of the other posters, I have seen him too, at a Bass Gear/Zon/Mark Bass sponsored event in Harrogate last year. His technique and use of the detuners created something amazing and he admitted a lot of his playing that evening was improvised. I spoke to him before and after the event and he was very approachable and patient: I guess he's had to explain how the tuners work at least 1m times!
20.
They probably didn't realise just how awful Bradford is. Poor guys.
That's a bit unfair Joe, as I have read of bands having their gear stolen all across the UK, London and Manchester are 2 places that spring to mind!
21. Right, have got a rental near Stalbridge and Sherborne, so North Dorset in 2 weeks. Anyone know the scene...is there one? A Jam Night would be good....
