1.
What? Shocking. PM them and threaten 'em with name-and-shame!
.....In a more positive light, perhaps you have a favourite musical charity you wish to nominate for the £100?
2. T-Shirts are with the printers and here's the accounts for anyone who is interested. Total Receipts: £268 (Comprised of £10 entry fees plus extra Raffle tickets sold). Incidentally those who consciously avoided paying know who you are....! Room Hire/Cleaning cost £20 but the cost covered by donation, as were PayPal costs. So £168 has gone towards T Shirts, Bass Gear Ltd have kindly covered the additional production costs and postage as their donation to the event. £100 will go to a Musical Charity of choice, the first person who attended (and paid!) who PM's me gets to choose! Raffle prizes kindly donated by Korg UK, John Hornby Skewes, Proel UK, Shergold Snickers and me! I'm still a bit hacked off that a couple of people decided they would not pay despite a number of hints from myself during the event, so I won't be organising the next one and there is room on the organising Committee( note from self to self: we had a Committee?) for some fresh blood and ideas!
3. Sold a few bits and bobs to him, good comms. and seems like a nice friendly guy!
4. Didn't they record an album in Memphis with the soul alumini?
5. It's a bit late now, but isn't there something about "discharging" a transformer before you start fiddling with it as it retains its mains voltage?
6. I was speaking to Joe Pasquale the other day and he spoke highly of him too!
7. Afraid Ben_55 and Anthony Joseph Wiaczek III have missed out as they have not responded to my APB and the order has now gone in! The back of the shirt has all the avatars of those attending in alphabetical order so I could not hold it any longer. Sorry Guys, but given the Bass Bash was 10 days ago I really need to put things to bed and I'll post a set of final accounts by the weekend. Should be around £100 going to Charity too!
8.
What size? I may have a couple of ebony nut / saddle blanks
Hi Keith Needs to be a bit bigger than a nut/saddler blank in depth as I can't take the strings down to the clamp at too tight an angle. Around 2x2x2" and actually got it from David Denby today! Cheers Keith
9. All sounds interesting, but remember, whatever you do, don't mention the whore!
10. Received a very prompt PayPal payment from John for a few bits of Hohner B2 Bass. He seems a very decent chap!
11. Anyone else see Later tonight? There was this band on who seemed to go on and on playing a despised type of music that no-one really understood. yep, step forward "Beady Eye"!!
12. Scott Devine ( as featured in another thread here) plays in gloves. He explained at the Yorkshire Bass Bash Seminar how through over practicising he has damaged his neurons and he wears gloves to confuse the nerve endings in his fingers otherwise he gets all sorts of involuntary movements of his fingers. Apparently he's one of only a few in the world with this condition. I may be slightly incorrect in some of the terms I've used but I think the gist of what he said is contained above!
13. Getting back to the original question...won't they be the 2 slightly odd looking guys stood just in front of the mixing desk sucking their teeth and shaking their heads?
14. Bought and sold loads here, never a problem and not bog standard gear either. Did have one problem with a tyre-kicker, must have been those Dunlop Bass Strings...!
15. Scott Devine who did the seminar for us at the Bass Bash last week was well impressed (sorry, been down with the kids today) with the Shuker Satinline too. It's a shame Jon was unable to join us on the day..... It's astonishing value for money and as others have said, very light. I wondered if it was made of fibreboard like the Dan Electro's back in the day ( which it isn't!) I think it could be the new Sue Ryder Bass, albeit a bit more expensive!
16. Good to meet you today Pete. Look after and enjoy the rig!
17.
+1
You have a PM!
18.
Keith, if you don't get the 20 names would you consider a, " I couldn't make it and am really hacked of about it, especially as i have been having some lessons from Geoff Chalmers" purchase to make up the numbers?
You have a PM!
19.
that is seriously hot
Thank you, watch the Basses for Sale section some time in the future....!
20. If you do any slapping, it will resonate around the whole building.......!
21.
As far as I am aware Haydn Does all of his own colour and spraying work, including the rather fetching tiger eye finished guitar on his site. ... that's not to say Dave has never finished a 'Williams' as I know they are friends and former colleagues. Stu
Never seen a 6 string bass so small, and with a whammy bar too!
22.
Any chance you'd sell knobs/backplate separately? Jon.
Hi Jon You have a PM.....! Keith
23. Hmm, I'm a dipstick. Strings have arrived, 4/4 length but I've made the neck/body too short so the arsestock will be in the wrong place, and the strings will not wrap around the tuners! Need to get another piece of sycamore next week! Good news is that in rooting around in my cellar I came across some spare wires that plugged into my Stagg sound module from the EUB. Have realised having taken the bridge off on the Stagg, these are under bridge pickups that I could use for this build as when they sent the new module, they also sent replacement pickups which I did not use! So whilst I don't have to buy pickups, I need to buy wood for another neck/body and start again, grrrr. Looking for a nice piece of ebony to do something clever with a combined nut/string guide down to the string clamp way.....
24. A couple of years ago I bought a trashed Hohner B2, glued it back together, gave it the Red Bull treatment (Wings) and here it is! However in doing so I replaced a number of components and now I need to clear the space. So I offer the following: 2 pick ups, both have broken surrounds Wiring loom and jack socket "Patented by Steinberger" knee rest 2 strap buttons ( 1 missing) with 2 felt washers 3 bridge pieces (1 missing) 4 Tuners ( 3 work fine, the other needs re tapping and a larger screw inserting to fit) Sorry but the knobs and backplate have now gone! I disgarded the pickups for SD Jazzes so did not test to see if the pick-ups worked however. At the time I bought the 4 secondhand replacement Tuners for £40, so I offer all of the above for £25 including postage in the UK
