1. Jim Fleeting, he'll do you a 4 Stringer although lots of people think he only does 9 Stringers!
2. Just dropped into this thread to see what the fuss was about....know I know who's singing that Elton John song, on the JL adverts, thanks!
3. Just had a message from Phil from Bass Gear, they have a power outage at the Showrrom in Harrogate, so if anyone was thinking of calling in today it would be better if they could postpone it!
4. A bit of history about these basses, Rick Turner used to design for Alembic 'back in the day' left and set up his own company 20 ? years ago. The Bass has 7 different pick-ups, two conventional magnetic ones and then individual piezo ones on each string in the bridge. Needless to say the individual bridge ones are controlled as "one" and you can mix the amount of magnetic and piezo sound to the output. It's made of lovely cherry wood, and has a 35" scale so has a really good B string sound. As played by John McVie in Fleetwood Mac....
5. Thank you Mr Heavy Jay, saves me thinking up another tenuous bump...but I will, "Gorillaz at the 02 a week today" bump....
6. When you factor in around a further 20% for VAT and import duty etc, they lose their appeal somewhat....
7. Need to sell this to fund a new project. All the details are here, http://www.bassgear.co.uk/products-page/pr...ne-5-pre-owned/ where it is on commision sale and I am using their photos with permission. However just to emphasise, this lovely Bass is mine and it is on sale by me on here as a Private Sale. Comes in a gig bag, this lovely bass is now open to offers: a new one is around £2000. Any questions, just ask!
8. No, not mine, it looks a bit like it but I've got the shaped body and is slightly darker with a more Fenderish headstock. Lovely distinctive Bass mind, I'll keep my eyes peeled too.
9. Seems no-one has replied yet, possibly ( without I hope me appearing patronising) because you seem to be a little unclear around what you want? When you say cheap "Electric Double Bass " do you really mean cheap "EUB-Electric Upright Bass" aka Stagg, Dean Pace etc? The Stagg is new around £375, s/h ones on here at around £250. Is that what you mean by cheap? A "cheap" Double Bass is a very different animal both to play and amplify and "cheap" as some of the threads above testify could be £400-500. I'm no expert but I'm sure others may respond once you have defined "cheap"! Hope this helps?
10. Weirdly not only do they review very heavy basses, they now price things in Euros- see the article about the Bass Centre Leo Lyons retro bass. Has that nice Mr Cameron limited our EU budget contribution but in exchange been forced to accept the Euro as our currency, or do BGM know something we don't........?
11.
Great 60th issue this month. Paul Turner of Jamiroquai interviewed, among others. Slowly improving with each one. The Yamaha BB1024x is reviewed and pretty fine it looks too. Except for the weight, it supposedly weighs in at 12Kg!. Only three times as heavy as my CVJ then? Its also given as that weight on this page here given as a link below, where its for sale at £1120 ( and I cant see anywhere that its priced at the £939 mentioned in the magazine review either.) Yamaha BB1024X Surely it cant actually weigh in at 26lb ??!!
Maybe it's a true heavy metal Bass?
12.
wondering how much it's worth, if it's the original one he used, and if any one in the audience is daft enough to make a swipe for it!!
If anyone did try to swipe it I guess there would be a band on the run....
