1. I went into my loft and got insulted......
2. RE a Vintage bass I would happily act as middleman to help you acquire any of the following for a small % of your £4k... http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html
3. Nice job and the advert displays candour and honesty not always evident in ebay ads nowaday!
4. I'm selling a very solid bespoke metal flight case for the aforementioned bass. If you've followed my build thread you will know I bought a badly battered Hohner 4 sting stick bass which I've coverted into a single cut. Consequently the case no longer fits and anyway my intention is just to put it in a small gig bag and use it as a spare at gigs. I'm asking £35 ( it really is solid, I can stand on it at 17 stone) and the cost of postage although could deliver to west yorks or the NE via the A1 corridor.
5.
It was either the Biddick Arts Centre in Washington, or the Buddle Arts Centre Wallsend. It was a long time ago so I don't blame you for the hybrid version. Great days............
So Biddick it was then..don't think it was a hybrid , it was a Precision! PS I've got both Back Door and 8th Street Hights on vinyl, with Back Door signed by the Band if anyone wants to make me an offer?
6. If I did my build again I'd go for the blue inlays and matching headstock: like someone said earlier, sometimes it's not till you've built/had built your bass do you realise you wish you'd done that..... It was at the last Manchester Bass show that I saw Overwaters with coloured pearloid inlays.......
7. These are great basses, I have a fretted cherry wood one with a sound to die for! The price quoted is very very reasonable!
8. Well it won't feedback (which electro/acoustics often do) but you won't be able to adjust the intonation (should it need it)with that type of bridge. I would have thought the main benefit of that design is that you can pack it up small and possibly ( although it does not say) play it through headphones. You'll still need to put it through an amp so no advantage over a sold bodied bass. If you do a search others have bought similar skeleton/silent basses Aria ? so their comments could be useful...
9. Withdrawn, test flight revealed major safety flaw as blade broke on landing. Luckily no-one injured!
10. Having a clear out and my remote control Knight Air Helicopter can go. It's just a £25 from 4 years ago one so no bells and whistles but it all works and comes with spare batteries for the hand set and adaptor for charging the main battery power pack. Spare Tail rotor too. I can't really be ars*ed to post it unless someone want to pay the postage (£3-4), otherwise it's free (FOC) if you pick up from BD17 5BN
11. Could someone clarify that the hot pickup wire colours on my SD active JB pickups are white and not red please?( I have red, white and bare) This seems to show them as white http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...tive_jazz_bass as does this:http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...c=2b_t_circuit ( in that you join the red wires just above the battery and hot goes to blend control) I'm also a little confused re the ground (bare) wire: should it be connected as the pickup schematic or as the tone circuit schematic as I have the tone circuit set-up?( or is it essentially the same thing with the bare ground being linked to all pots on the casing? It's just the tone circuit schematic does not show where the ground attaches! Thanks for any help!
12. I have a Mark bass 2x10 t and had a 1x15 t also and sold the 1x15 as I never needed the volume and the 2x10 sounded better. Needless to say I converted it (turned the badge around) so the 2x10 is vertical, as you can see here:
13.
There is no bass guitar part on Riders On The Storm or on Superstition.
or Whiskey in the Jar
14. Do you mean the screw that attaches into the bass? If so then your screw hole has got a little enlarged and you could use dowel, cocktail sticks, matches and or glue to fill the cavity a bit. There's lots of suggestions if you do a search. Alternatively over here in the UK we have "Yorkshire screws" which are reverse threads: they might be your answer...(only joking!)
15. Into the SO's Punto goes: 1 HK Lucas 15" sub 1 Mark Bass 2X10 Traveller(of course!) 1 LMII 1 Large metal tool box 1 5 u rack case filled with lights 1 stand case with speaker and mike stands 1 1x15 monitor 2 basses, 1 hard and 1 soft case CD's for sale gig diary Tux, shirt and shoes
16. Nice but should'nt this be in the build diary thread...(runs for cover)?
17. Just carefully inspect what they send you, something they told me that had been on display and never used had clealry been used.....
18.
Cheers, but as they say "necessity is the mother of invention" I'm sure it was Frank Zappa......?
19. Excellent, love the way you got around not having a thicknesser and bandsaw by using your router to carry out different functions:i.e. thickness and cut.
20. 54 but still feel like I'm 18.......as the avatar shows if you surround yourself with an attractive female and a bald guitarist you can look quite young!
21.
Linda Ronstadt. Bassist - no idea.
Lee Sklaar on a few I think?
22. Shawn Colvin-John Leventhal Aimee Mann- herself, Jon Brion, Paul Bryan Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings-Bosco Mann Rickie Lee Jones- Neil Stubenhaus Norah Jones-Lee Alexander Joan Osborne-Mark Egan Lizanne Knott-Chico Huff
23. "Cant decide whether to steam the maple and drop it......" I did a maple cap and if you get it thin enough ( 2mm) it is possible to just glue it onto the forearm contour by clamping your body template above (and below) and tapping in wedges above the contour to bring it down on the body. Can't remember if I wet it as well...... See http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=27964&hl=kbass and on post#2 theres a photo of what I have inexpertly described. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs!
