1. I had a pot on a Jazz Bass that failed, they cheerfully sent me a new one FOC!
2. I got some plywood today ( don't go to Lavers between 12-1) as they don't cut it when there's only 2 staff on....! Anyway did a quick rough cut of the body templates and took this photo: am getting the real wood tomorrow! Needless to say, the finished item will not have the gap between top "horn" and neck and the bottom will be a better fit too...
3.
Good to see you're using your retirement productively! Looking good so far.
Hi J Getting the wood tomorrow so maybe ready for the gig (unpainted) at the SSB in Bingley on Sunday night, starting 8.00ish! Cheers K
4. Is this the precurser to the Chapman Stick?
5. Yes I'm O.K. with cream, mind if I was a Vegan it would be very different....
6. As a vegetarian, I don't see anything that would make it unsuitable for me......am I missing something?
7. A little while ago I picked up a smashed Hohner B2 headless Bass. As the electrics were goosed I decided to use it as the bas(s)is for a Single Cut project. One side sawed off This is the split side Body now glued up, you can seee old control cavity Quite a small single cut Forgot to mention filled in the old pickup holes with wood, glued up, and made a template for the new ones Am keeping the existing rear tuners/bridge Mock up with pick ups, am waiting until got body wing wood shaped and glued on before routing as the pickups go right to the edge. Got a steve bailey fretless circut to add as well. Next job to get the body wood and shape before glueing. Will keep updating as I make any progress....
8. Bogroll...useful if you are caught short on stage as well....................
9. We are playing at the Suburban Style Bar, on New Road Side, Horsforth tonight, all welcome! 9.00 pm start.
10.
Good old Hamish Stuart
Eh?
11. Seem to recall some discussion on Talkbass but not sure if it was around a d/b however....just remember Buy Other Sound Equipment!
12. Update as below in case you have not read it: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=41689
13. Thanks Pete, it saves me looking it up: can't believe anyone on Basschat does not know I did the course....!
14. Glynn is a "to be trusted" purchaser. Thanks mate!
15. Looks like there are no fleas on these basses.......(taxi for Y5S!)
16. I was chatting to Single Bass at a gig maybve 10 years ago and she was singing his praises, I think he may have taught her too ( I 've a strong sense of deja vue about this thread and not CSNY!)
17. Last 3 all PM'd, thanks to all, I'll speak to my daughter tomorrow and try and get an update on Nicola's situation
18. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=41689 I'm selling off my last few of these "Cold Heat" Solder Guns to raise some funds for the person in the thread above. If you google these opinions are mixed, however I used one to solder cable on a jack plug and it was fine, although I would not use it to go attaching components on a circuit board. You need to avoid pressing too hard although spare tips are available now. It's portable, heats up almost instantly, has a light on the end and I carry one in my toolbag to gigs. These are £5.99 each from JML Direct plus £4.95 p&p and I'm doing them for £6.99 plus £2.00 p&p, a saving of nearly £2.00! I have 9 of these left, so buy yourself a handy little solder gun and please help someone in need!
19. Top purchaser, even though I was out when he called! Buy from or sell to him with confidence
20. A little pissed off that after trying 2 evenings runnng I cannot seem to donate the £235 into their account: will ring them tomorrow!
21.
Thanks Phil for organising this. Sorry I couldn't stay longer, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Waterontyne's basses were my favourite - I guess that makes me some kind of old fashioned purist! Thanks again, Martin PS what did ticket 30 win???
Some CD's
22. For sale is my Hartke LH500 amp bought less than a month ago as a stop-gap whilst my LMII was being fixed. It is as new with all original packing and has only been gigged 3 times. It even still smells of "new amplifier"! These retailed at £239 but are now £345 (due to currency fluctuations) at Absolute who are usually one of the cheapest around. There are absolutely(!) no issues with this amp and it even comes with a kettle lead! Doubtless anyone interested will have read the thread on this amp already, if not : http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=hartke+LH500 Purchaser to pay P&P but I'll deliver in West Yorkshire or along the A1 Corridor to Newcastle for petrol money at cost.
