1. My G&L's had a small piece of abrasive ( like wet'n' dry) paper in between, presumably as a slight deterent to further movement ( despite 6 neck screws). Mr Shuker suggested double sided tape( not the foamy stuff) if I wanted to do the same with the Fender clone with 4 screws I built.
2. Not sure how I'd adapt to 5 speeds.....
3. Pete, I'd love to come and see you play but it would take me seven days in this weather! Have a good one anyway!
4. "Denim" Maybe you could stone wash it first, or put cuts around the ports or even have a flared bottom?
5. I suppose with a name like "Stringbusters"you can expect a few bust strings.......I'll get me fleece!
6.
Well, we're not short on towns beginning with 'B' here. Burnley, Blackburn, Bingley, Bolton, Barnoldswick... Sounds like something that needs to happen.
Only Bingley is actually in West Yorkshire however....
7. "Shipley's good for me - I'd thought it was Baildon, Essex at first..." Yes, it's the well known spellcheck default of "Basildon" .....
8. It was billed as the Yorkshire Bass Bash, took place on June 29th and attendees came from as far as Donny, Cass and Harrogate. I don't know if the timing was wrong ( I contacted every Yorks based BC'er) as only around 15 Basschatters came but I dragged a few more other bassists in through contacts. The Raffles and Auctions raised over £500 for music -related charities. We have decent venue for £nada in Baildon (The Copper Beech Club) but I'd like to see a few more people stepping forward to help with the organisation( especially on the day) if it was repeated. Not that I'm saying there have not/won't be offers!
9. Another Yorks dweller to join our happy throng. Welcome!
10. They have suspiciously similar stock levels: 30 or 40 of all guitars or basses, have they not sold 1 of anything?
11.
Hummmmmmm Be interesting to see what the shipping costs are an if it actually shows up
4.3kg (EMS to Euro first 0.5kg 14 EUR, Additional 0.5kg 3.5 EUR) I make that 42 euros?
12.
Hi, new to this forum which has two purposes - 1 To get reviews on kit for my daughter who plays in a band and 2 a shameless plug for the band ! check out www.myspace.com/thesmallscreenlightshow by the way I have a Jay Turser blond violin bass and am considering geting an Ashdown Little Giant for my daughter who plays a Gretsch bass in the band.
Welcome to Basschat, I'll have a look at the myspace in a minute!
13. Sorry to spoil the illusion...BTW have you heard about Father Christmas?
14. Anyone can rip a few pages out the Kays catalogue and stick some parts on top.....!
15. 16. OP: I take your general point but is playing "slap" actually going to 'advance your training?' It's just one of a number of techniques which unless you play in a funk band, hang about Bass shops or go to Bass days(!) has limited use IMHO
17. Why does the Thomann LP have 2 trussrod covers? Is it dual trussrods as I know they have thick necks?
18. That's the worst one I've ever seen.... I mean the relic'd bass
19. I wonder if I could fit a MarkBass power amp into the old Dyson?
20. You could " re-assign your gender" and possibly not then lose out paywise.....!
21. Excellent timing, I've just emailed them to check on how realistic their sizing is!
22.
I subcribe to Napster To Go, which means I can legitimately download as many albums I like. I find this a great way of trying things out. This week I downloaded and am enjoying... Razorlight 'Slipway Fires' Status Quo 'Pictures: 40 years of hits' Ryan Adams 'Cardinology' Robert Wyatt 'Rock Bottom' Joey Ryan 'with its roots above and its branches below' Motown Legacy: The songs of Norman Whitfield' But I didn't like some others, such as Katey Melua, so I deleted them. As I type, I am downloading the new Dido and Girls Aloud albums.
Are you allowed/able to burn them onto CD's?
23.
Yeah thats a goodie Did you get her one called Relish? Love that one too.
Apparently Little Wild One is meant to be a return to Relish type songs/success, as it is written and produced by the same team. Had a JO fest yesterday on youtube hence found out about Breakfast in Bed. Also got How Sweet It Is when that came out, ditto Relish. She also does a couple of songs on Standing in the Shadows of Motown, I have the DVD and CD!
