1. On the one hand a useful source of ( not cheap) spare parts but on the other he's offering to break intact oldish instruments...I guess it depends if you regard an instrument as a lump of wood with strings etc or as something more valued and maybe esoteric?
2. Why not bid for this: has he changed any of the wording since last time? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Markbass-Little-Mark...p3286.m14.l1318 I think £469 is still a good price, why not see if they will split the difference? Everyone else is selling them for a lot more with the Euro increasing in value, some are over £500 now!
3. Right Paul, I'll make sure your donation reaches them! Thanks
4. I used to have the exact one and it was flippin heavy, remember trying to get the castors for it but then it would not have fitted my car. Don't quote me but I reckon it was 80-90 lbs.....
5.
So which charity got the money and who got the bass? Own up!
and the Winner, independently drawn by my next door neighbour called Paul, wearing an Everton shirt ( grimace) is Bassbunny! It is his choice which Charity he wishes the £ raised to go to. Thanks to all who bought tickets!
6. and the Winner, independently drawn by my next door neighbour but one called Paul is...........................Bremen! Congratulations!
7. And the Winner is.............Paul Cooke! Congratulations, I've PM'd you.
8. We have 9 people signed up ( some bought a combined bass and amp ticket)..any more late purchasers? I think we'll go ahead on 9, I'll buy a ticket but won't include myself in the draw if no-one does a late purchase!
9. Thanks to all for their valuable feedback: I'm glad that some of you felt you were able to comment without being thought "uncharitable"! I really don't want to appear as if I'm defending my original message against any of the subsequent points raised but it may be worth noting: 1. The basses, cases and amp were all donated, mostly by fellow Basschatters. I don't think I could have gone back and said "Could you not donate your Fender/ MM/Warwick/SX instead"? 2. I've felt as if all I've been doing for the last 2 weeks is constantly bumping these items to give them a higher profile: it seems not everyone must visit the For Sale sections! 3. All the Charities nominated were actually ones suggested by Basschatters on this Board! The winning bidder/ticket holder gets to chose which Charity the proceeds of their draw goes to. 4. The proceeds of the Yorkshire Bassbash Raffle will be going to Basschat itself, a registered charity. 5. Yes, the Moderators were asked in the first instance if the Raffles/Auction were OK Just to repeat, I'm not having a go at anyone, either respondee above or just reading: I just wonder if the points mentioned above had been clearer then the response would have been greater? Anyway, need to put on my Dinner Suit, the Grand Draw starts in 15 minutes...cue drums!
10.
the comments you talk about are probably 1. from me amongst others and 2. related to the bigger, SA450 bag only because that has holes at BOTH ends and so there is no need for the rain to bounce ;-)
Can't believe that! As above, have seen it mentioned for the smaller LMII bag where it is not an issue either!
11. You may have noticed the Yorkshire Bass Bash decided to put 3 items donated for the Raffle up for National Raffle/Auction. A North West member then donated a Practice Amp too. All these items finish tonight, Saturday 12th July between 8.00 and 8.30 pm. The winning bidders have an opportunity to nominate to which musically related charity the money raised in that Auction/Raffle goes.(See opening thread in each Raffle/Auction for details) Given the traffic on this site, less than 60 people out of the entire Basschatters Community (3500?) have pledged money on the Raffle (£3.50/£5.00 ticket) with 3 currently bidding for the lovely Tanglewood Bass. At the risk of being flamed, I'm really surprised there has not been a bigger response from members: remember it is possible to contribute to these worthy charities even if you don't wish to keep the item, just give instructions for that to happen when you Paypal. Whilst I'm sure some of you do contribute to Charities by offering your own/band's services free, I thought we would get more involved than currently pledged...... Unless there is a late rush in Sales ( could I have done this differently and better? P.S. It's not too late to enter the Raffles or the Auction!
12. 8 hours to go and we need 2 more tickts buying: it's OK to buy tickets and not want the Amp....just give instructions if you win for it to be drawn again! £3.50 a ticket is a real bargain!
13. A number of people have contributed with instructions that if they win, the draw has to be done again: so if you are thinking about contributing but don't really want the Bass, THAT'S OK !
14. I've added this up to 48 pledges, although not all have given geographical information. Please check your PM's as I've contacted a number of you where I am unsure who the PP payment has come from! I think we should be able to top 50?
15.
I've now discovered I'll not be around to defend my bid on Saturday evening, so I'll up my bid now to £200
My condolences on your demise: just send a post dated cheque! Seriously, you have raised the bar with this, good on you!
16. Updated scores on the doors..... North East: 2 North West: 6 Yorks & Hum: 8 East Mids:1 West Mids:3 East Eng: 2 London:2 South East: 10 South West: 3 Wales: 1 Scotland: 4 N. Ireland: Stateless: 1 With the SE stretching their lead, we still need to get someone from Northern Ireland to cover off all of the UK. Yorkshire sneaking up into second place too! There's 3500 odd Basschatters and still less than 1% have bought a Raffle ticket...........now there's an opportunity to win an Amp too on the £8.50 combined ticket!
