1.
Yes, stick me down for a skydiver Are we near 20 yet ??
I make it 17 and clearly it would not be proper for me to enter...so come on down, 3 more to go. I'm not sure if I can set up a new Paypal account for myself (anyone ever done a new one)? If this is the case I'll pm my current PP account details and confidential subject heading to all those who buy a ticket!
2. Seeing as I got a photo credit from Mr Bassman, please have a bump!
3.
Well I'm definitely up for the £5 into a raffle if yorks5stringer's happy to go with that idea.
Guys I'm a bit conscious of 'changing horses in mid stream' on this as the other auction seems to be going OK. However if at least 20 b'chatters pledge on here they will buy a £5 Raffle ticket then I'll set it up. It's over to you folks............
4. The Yorkshire Bass Bash was donated 2 basses with cases to auction at the event. We felt we could raise more money for Musical Charities by auctioning them on this site. Please visit the For Sale section and make your bids, these are both excellent Basses. Closing date a week on Saturday. Extreme Jazz Bass Tanglewood Electro-Acoustic Bass
5. This new Black Extreme Jazz-type Bass with hard case was very generously donated by "Rhino" and Beat-It Music of Baildon to the Yorkshire Bassbash, held on June 29th. The view of those present was that we should raffle it for £5.00 per ticket on this site as it exposes it to more potential purchasers and therefore we should be able to raise more money for the musically-related charities we wish to support. The winner drawn will get to choose which one of the following Charities the money raised goes to: MBF, Orpheus, Youth Music, Drake Music and Nordorff Robbins. The closing date for buying tickets will be 8.15 pm on Saturday 12th July, the winning ticket will be drawn by Ernie (the fastest milkman in the West Yorkshire) at that time. Remember this is for Charity and it is a great little package too. We have raised £40 so far from the Bash, help us take it to a more meaningful sum! Again just a stock photo, but this Bass is new, from shop stock.
6. This as new Tanglewood Electro-Acoustic Bass with gig bag was very generously donated by "Rhino" to the Yorkshire Bassbash, held on June 29th. The view of those present was that we should auction it on this site as it exposes it to more potential purchasers and therefore we should be able to raise more money for the musically-related charities we wish to support. The winning bidder will get to choose which one of the following Charities their bid goes to: MBF, Orpheus, Youth Music, Drake Music and Nordorff Robbins. The closing date for bids will be 8.00 pm on Saturday 12th July, and bidders should just post their bids on the thread: the highest bidder who has a bid timed (and can therefore be validated by all Basschatters) before or at 8.00 pm on the 12th July wins the Bass. I have placed a reserve of £75 so it does not go for silly money ( this is not a cheap ebay bass, its shop, not RRP price is £400!) and the buyer will also need to arrange for collection at their expense. Remember this is for Charity and it is a cracking Bass too. We have raised £40 so far from the Bash, help us take it to a more meaningful sum! Apologies for the stock photo but rest assured this bass is as new! Cheers Keith
7.
bahh, missed the arrow pointing to Finbar's old amp/cab
"Apologies too if you feel my photos or captions did not do you justice but I hope you all felt it was worthwhile! "!!!!!!
8. More photos: The tiny blemish is actually in the wood on the edge of the headstock, won't photograph and I'm only mentioning for full disclosure Either the previous owner stayed below 5th fret or it was partially left in the light! The business end, not so much as a dint, really as new in fact "never been gigged!" Another body shot.
9. The guilty men and women named: Rhino, Dr Dave, Toasted, Funkypenguin, Argh, Mr Bassman, Jobiebass, Clinton, Bren Travis, Noisedude, Sifiziiz, Tonybassplayer. Thanks to all these and any other Basschatters who attended and whose names I did not get. A further half dozen other 'normal' Bassists came along including Riki, Ged, Graham and Siarlot, and James. Thanks to everyone who bought Raffle Tickets, we raised £40. Also thanks to those who donated/sponsored the event including Rhino, Beat-It Music of Baildon, Strings and Things, and the Copper Beech Club who let us have the venue foc and donated a Raffle Prize. Thanks to Bren Travis who gave away software and mode charts and was available for tutoring. Sorry about the crap and hastily edited photos and captions: the Samosas are from work today and as I had my camera.......! Watch this space for details about the Auction of the Tanglewood and Extreme Basses and the Flight Case: we decided we would be unlikely to raise enough money on the day. Apologies too if you feel my photos or captions did not do you justice but I hope you all felt it was worthwhile!
10. Even more photos and lies, some photos are able to be viewed without turning monitor on its side... Jobiebass with his Bass that once belonged to Deep Purple and very heavy Marshall bits Bren Travis ready to launch (geddit) a run up to the 32nd fret. DR Dave playing out on my Rick Turner Electroline Siarlot, the sole female representative Raffle Prizes front of stage left, Bren and Clinton in background rocking out A box of Samosas.........
11. More photos and lies from Sunday..... Toasted with a Celinder Bass, Aguilar Head and Bergatino Cab More strings than you could shake a 'Stick' at...... Local bassist Rikki tries not to lose his number, as he defies gravity by playing stood on his side. Dr Dave tries to put off Clinton by gently blowing on his exposed arm Bren Travis, Clinton and Toasted decide that putting all their basses into one case was not a good idea as now they are all tangled.
12. Some photos, the captions are not entirely accurate! Dr Dave tells Rhino "I've nicked your bass and what are you going to do about it?" Mr Bassman in the background, pretending not to listen. James, member of the Zombies and also from Beat-It Music in Baildon. He was later put out of his torment with a pointed headstock to his heart. Rhino gets his lovely Jazz Bass back from Dr Dave just in time to show off his PJB's. A Little Mark 250 nestles snugly on an Epiphany 1x15 cab that had to be weighted down, so light it kept floating off! Some tasty gear including a Washburn double neck, fretted/unfretted. Also a brace? of Wals A lovely Status Groove 5 Stringer from Beat-It, (used to be mine!) Dr Dave's thinning patch and in the background Argh's Jim Fleeting 9 String Bass?
13. I'll do some photos in the week, just got in from Wedding gig in Halifax and I'll name all the guilty parties from this afternoon too! Just for the record I didn't try anyone else's bass, picked up Dr D's Shuker then got distracted.....and I organised the bl**dy bash! We raised around £40 with the Raffle and some contributions from items sold, but we still have the auction basses and case so watch this space for perhaps a National Basschat Charity Auction/sale? Thanks to all who attended, names to follow! Knackered now so off to bed !
14. Am looking for cash on this one but can wait a little while!
15. Due to a complicated set of trades and swaps I now have the pictured 5 String G&L surplus to requirements. The condition I'd say is 9.8/10 with a very slight blemish but not a nick on the tip of the headstock and the rear of the neck is two shades due to being left in a sunny spot I guess :I'll try and do more photos later. The body is perfect no rash or dints and of course it has that trademark sound.B string sounds pretty good too. I'm selling it at what is cost me plus a little to cover associated expenses but it still makes it a great deal! Comes with a Bass Centre Warwick Gig bag too
16. Weird but enjoyable gig as we were not getting paid....the Management are moving out the pub so rang us to cancel but we needed the gig as we are doing a Wedding this evening with a guitar dep as ours is going to see Radiohead. So an unpaid rehearsal in front of 2 dozen people, but playing with a different guitarist made it quite enjoyable. He's learnt 24 songs in around 2 weeks and nearly all hit the mark. Singer was stranded in Holmfirth with no transprt so dropped her off after the gig, got home at 13.30 after leaving the pub at 12.00. We did a version of Valerie too..........

19.
Was just having a look at ebay & came across the Alden Jupiter Bass. It says: "Alden guitars are the result of a collaboration between UK guitar guru Alan Lester David Entwistle( ALDEN ) and one of Korea’s leading guitar companies." Here's the link to the one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alden-Jupiter-Bass-S...id=p3286.c0.m14 I especially like the line that says "If you are not only "cheap" looking, but also quality" Who's gonna go & buy one & give us a review?
It's good to see them not to charge more for a 5 String on the Spalted one with the split scratchplates and only £15 more for a 6 stringer!
20. I've actually booked a build slot later in the year and I suspect it will be more "sweat" than the presenter appears to show. Nice looking Jazzer at the end mind....
21. Just watched it here: http://www.itvlocal.com/yorkshire/news/ You then need " Latest News Bulletins", "Calendar South" and "Thursday 26th June" Look into last night's bulletin around 25mins 57 seconds I especially like "let's put that in there and that on top" (trussrod and fretboard)!!
22.
Apologies to all, but I'm depping for a band and the first rehearsal is Sunday. I tried to get them to change it, but to no avail It's thrown a bit of a spanner in the works, as I had it all planned out, visit to Jon Shuker, parents, Bass Bash. Bugger.
Is it a large hex spanner (see Immersion Heater Thread)? Never mind, there will be others!
23. Loading In Details for Yorkshire Bass Bash There is a lift, it’s just on the left as you come in to the entrance. Also, there is a door to the right of the lift leading to the basement where you will find some steel cages that you can wheel out to put your equipment in and then in to the lift and then in to the concert room.
