1. Never used to bother but take a back-up now but it begs the question, should one take a spare amp/cab too....?

3.
Also, there's "Help s_u_y_* buy a Warwick Streamer Stage I bass guitar". Give a man a guitar, he'll make music during solo sections. Give a man a bass, he'll make music for life.
I wondered who'd be the first....... ?
4. Thanks to all for your helpful contributions, looks like there could be a 4 way split?
5. Sorry to start a new thread but I guess my question in the Bassbash thread may have got overlooked... Does anyone know of any Music-related Charities? We hope to raise a decent sum of £ at the Yorkshire Bassbash Auction and Raffle (Sunday June 29th!) and it would be nice to give it to a Charity in the the musical field. Any ideas please?
6. Musically Related Charities As we now have a number of items for auction as listed above and now also an as new Gothard Flight Case (the Jazz bass will fit nicely) it would be good to donate this money to a charity that has some musical connection. Does anyone know of such a Charity please?
7.
Unfortuantely not gonna be able to make it! Working until 5 Hope its all good! Jake
Shame
8. I had one of these MIM in the early 90's, got it from Promenade Music for £200, they said they were display models from a Music Exhibition. First thing I did was put a tort guard on, bought a metal control plate and then replaced the pickups with Kent Armstrongs. Think I sold it on for the same amount around a year later
9.
just to add on the side of ashdowns support. when i phoned i spoke to Guy, and to reiterate he was very helpful and patient explaining exactly what i needed to do and the places in the amp i needed to concentrate on. also received an email this morning from martin just to follow up from my conversation with guy. all doesn't sound like much but i have NEVER delt with a company that does anything like this for their customers just got to get down to the rehearsal room to get the amp and take it home for a good clean.
Bands/songs to avoid once fixed: Foghat and Fog on the Tyne....
10.
Good work! Very kind of all those mentioned. I am looking forward to a full post-bash report! Cheers ped
I'll add "bring camera" to my list of things to do!
11. I don't think the labels are paper and they don't just peel off: mine looks like a plastic type which would have to be deliberately peeled off to remove it.
12. If you were undecided about attending, you may find the following information helpful. Thanks to the generosity of Strings and Things, Beat-it Music in Baildon, and Basschatter 'Rhino' we will be auctioning the following new items: Tanglewood TW55A Electro-Acoustic Bass: Shop price c£400 Extreme Jazz Bass Copy: Shop price c£80 I'll look at establishing realistic reserves on both these items. We are looking for a music related charity who sends instruments to needy children as the recipent of all the funds realised. The Bassbashers Raffle (tickets £1) has a number of music related items up for grabs including bottles of booze(!), a new Warwick 2U Gig Bag, and a Musicians Starter Pack. There will also be a number of Basschatters with items for sale such as a G&L L2500, a MarkBass T151 neo cab, a OLP Tony Levin 5 String, a Fender stickered Aria 5 String Jazz Copy, and a Crafter electro-acoustic 5 String Bass. PS Just had a word with Jon Shuker: he's sending up a bass to auction...no, just some posters!
13.
I can't recall where I heard it, but I believe the flap folds under & the velcro is intended to stick to the fuzzy carpet on the cab & stop it slipping off. I don't do it on my cab though as I prefer it to be unbobbly.
+1, but you can give it a shave if it gets too bobbly
14. If it came with the bag, why is it so scratched, as surely one would just keep it in the bag: that's what I do with mine and it looks brand new!
15. Regrets, I've had a few........ This was my first bass, a Gibson EB2, although the photo is of a 1959 and mine was 1962....(they want $7500!) I got it in 1974 along with a Truevoice (Selmer T& snakeskin covered 50 watt valve amp. As I was into funk and soul and the EB2 was very 'woody', short scale, with poor intonation; bought for £50 I sold it for £120 I gave the amp to a colleague for chainsawing a tree down in my garden............ Then there was my Squier first series Precision Bass.... Did pick up a Jaydee Roadie from the secondhand shop in Leeds next to where the Duchess used to be: £300 and featured in Bassist Magazine no less! Hindsight is a wonderful thing...
16.
+1 for £300. They're not the easiest to get hold of, so that bumps the price up but you could import one in from the US inc shipping and taxes for just over £400. Buy it - you won't be disappointed if you like the sound of a Stingray.
Just got it for £299 plus postage, I've now got a maple neck to go with my natural body and the sunburst with a rosewood neck will go back up on sale, maybe here?
17. +1: I was going to suggest get a Roqsolid or similar cover if you want to protect the cab, irrespective of covering
18. Why not make it even lighter by going the LMII route? It's 300 watts at 8 ohm and 500 watts at 4 ohm, weighs 7 Lb and is the same amp in the combos so you could do as I did, get 2 cabs, a 2x10 and a 1X15. Together bloody loud, singly just loud, so much so I never use the 1x15. The 2X10 has no trouble handling 2 very hot 5 active stringers.
19. As you bought it on ebay/ though paypal, could you not open a dispute if it is not as described? If you have written evidence of its description and it is not 'immaculate' and could therefore be older than described too ( why else remove the build date and s/n?) see if you could get your money back and wait for one that is as described? Unless it was really cheap..............? PS Labelled with love too.
20. and another, just 1 week to go now!
21. In the same "vein" I expect you'll start early? (If you only had £ for every comment like this...)
22. Love Flying Cowboys, had it on tape for years and bought it on CD a couple of years ago. Produced by Walter Becker Tried to get our singer to do "Don't let the Sun catch you Crying". Usual reposte "but no-one will know it"......
23. and a "something for the weekend " bump Number 1
