  1. It's a status quo bass in that it would maintain the status quo in a house where say there was a couple, and one was a bassist and the other was someone who found the sound of music painful. As the bass is basically a conversation piece ( can't be strung or played) the couple could hang it over the telly and in the breaks watching reality TV one could say "How much did you pay for that piece of sh*t" and the other would say "Not much and anyway it's not doing any harm". There would be a long pause just broken by the theme music for Love Island/The Batchelor/ 90 Day Fiance and they would be back watching the TV until the next break when the same conversation could take place.....
  2. Just been digging around and have come across a very nice grey Blake Guitar Solutions Bass Case, this is so padded you could sleep in it and it has waterproof zips too, so I'll be selling it for £40 ( new over £120) and no longer available and also a Hercules Folding Music Stand for £15.00.
  3. Re the food, (assuming I don't have a last minute positive test) I'm a veggie so there's enough on the menu to suit me, not sure what the vegan option is...? Oh, and a double helping of the fretless bass as well please! Also I'll test myself before I set off too. I'll be wearing a mask around my neck and depending on numbers and proximity I may cover my face at times, which I appreciate may look a bit unfriendly but am sure we all understand why?
  4. It's a 4 stringer on the YT clip but you do get 18v active/passive, upgraded bridge, noiseless pickups and sparkly finishes....
  5. Alternatively you could just get a combo with a tweeter which would be much easier to transport unless you are wedded to the 15" speaker in the JB? There are a number of options: http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/cmd-super-combo-k1/ http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/cmd-121h/ http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/mini-cmd-151p-iv/ (above has the piezo driver which some dislike)
  6. Nice colours and sounds but a significant price difference to the Player (£999) , although I guess they may discount?
  7. Send a PM to Chownybass, just click on his icon above your last post.
  8. What about a proper job storage unit? Won't cost much if they are stored upright and they tend to be modern, kept at an even temperature and dry. Oh, and you can go and visit your stuff on your day off....
  9. Is that the George Clinton version? Seriously though, given democracy is now a sham as vested interests and croneyism run rife and we have a PM who is totally useless/shameless, is there any point?
  10. You lot are effin amateurs....get yourself a banjo player, their loud tuning during and after every song cuts across any interbreak communication with the audience and turns the most placid bassist into a raging maniac. You will then end up treasuring your formerly delinquent guitarist!
  11. `I'll be bringing a musicians toolkit, a load of CD's and if anyone wants some back issues of Bassist Magazine (UK one) happy to bring them too. Maybe some Basschat straplox also... If anyone brings a copy of August 1998 Bassist I'll be happy to sign the 'My Bass is a Jaydee Supernatural Roadie' 2 page spread, my print debut and swansong too.
  12. I'm sure it will be fine for you, I was lucky enough to have the option of either and did not lose money on the Ninja when I sold it, in fact I think I bought the extra NYC cab with the money.
  13. They say it is 'never played', can't think why...?
  14. Just reschedule the Bash, it's not as if you haven't got the experience......😏
  15. I was in the 6th Form at school in 1971-73 and we were lucky to have a 6th Form Centre away from the main school which had a Garrad deck and a decent hi fi system. All the cool kids used to bring in LP's ( remember them?) and I absorbed Argus, Led Zep 2 and 3, various Rory Gallagher and Groundhogs in my free periods. Whilst not into that stuff ( more Bowie, Lou Reed, Crusaders) those tunes have stuck in my ears over the last 50 years. Listened to Argus on YT a couple of years ago and it all came tumbling back.
  16. True dat, exactly my recent experieince: 'It's in the 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th session that you see people get comfortable and show their bad habits like not learning songs, suggesting Katy Perry songs (for your 80s covers band!!!), wanting to play other instruments, wanting to bring their mates in, all the daydreams coming out when really you just want to get a good handful of songs'
  17. Years ago I joined a band which had an ad that said 'No winetasters need apply'. 3 months in the singer said 'did you like the bit about 'winetasters' in the ad'? Duh, I never even questioned it!!
  18. It took me quite a few years to take on board the saying,"If you do what you always do, you get what you always get'. Luckily I'm in another band which is very predictable, most of the basslines are root- 5th, but we gig quite frequently and I get to wear a cowboy hat...!
  19. Just packed up rehearsing with 3 others after 2 meetings. It was the usual, experienced Guitarist too loud ( yeah, if you don't know the chords just play it so loud no one can tell) who had only half prepared for this the 2nd rehearsal ( not the nuances but chords), Singer unsure what she wanted to be, a bit pitchy and unsure, and me and the drummer who had done our stuff. Despite it being really convenient I could see it would be a long and for me unstimulating battle to work up anything to gig readiness, so bailed! I've stuck with bands on the basis it would get better but know the warning signs for me, luckily I wore my mask so maybe did not show my displeasure so much, although my body language may have betrayed me! If it's covers I'll learn the song/changes 90% ready for the next rehearsal and expect everyone else to be on that same page. If I have to start to explain the chords, or where the choruses/solos are played I know I'm going to be doing the heavy lifting and it does not suit me. I'm all for making the song one's own or doing an arrangement but if others have not even bothered to do their homework, then I'm off. I'd love to be proved wrong by them but I'm 66.....!
  20. Looks to like he's playing high up the neck and doing some swoops up and down. Seems he does play some barre chords on Bass
  21. I had a Ninja 250 and a CMD121P and swapped the heads around ( which was not straight forward as they mount in different directions and not all the holes aligned). The extra poke was not hugely noticable but was there. At the risk of raining on your new purchase I found the increased size/weight of the Ninja cab compared to the CMD121P made it a bit awkward for me so swapped the heads back and sold the Ninja. I'd bought it on the premise that the sound was not all around your ankles and punchier with the 2X10's but on stage it didn't really seem to matter that much anyway. The CMD 121 P is a much easier lift for me, if I need more I just bring an extra NYC121 which I know is an additional cab but with the Ninja I was 'bringing' an extra speaker every time....!
