  1. Wondered if you'd get the gig having heard about the tragic passing of the previous incumbent....
  2. I'm the tall guy directly behind Michael Gillet wearing glasses and the silver fox ( in the box) barnet. My kids know me as 'Dad' but I'll answer to Keith Barclay as well.
  3. Sadly this Government does not value culture in any form, even cutting the funding to Arts based courses at Universities. Wonder what will happen when the Bullingdon Club runs out of strippers, maybe use pigs ( hang on , that's already been tried)? IBTL
  4. I gave up reading the accompanying blurb after a few words: do I need to visit Specsavers? The stuff in block capitals is virtually unreadable to me...
  5. This sounds a bit like another website I frequent.....
  6. Sorry to hear that ( wonder what kind of reward I'll get for saying this)?
  7. Agree, don't think the current Tokais are a patch on the MIJ ones that were better than the Fender equivalent from years ago. I think a classic case of badge engineering. Here's a reprise of the debate:
  8. Would he be Sid Viscious (Sex Pistols) or simply Sid Viscious?
  9. It can be, as your Bass just rattles around in it unless you pad it out, which rather defeats the objective.
  10. The winner will probably then be someone who is a guitarist and deps on Bass too....
  11. it's a bit worrying that they have to tell us who some of the players worked with, e.g Paul McCartney (Beatles) whereas Scott Lafaro who worked with Bill Evans has no such addition. Does that means a lot of the Jazz players will be ignored by the voting readers or are they well known enough by the poll readers not to need the extra info?
  12. Interesting to find out what some of these sound like...14 different ways of hitting a drum!! 😏
  13. Yes, I did the 121 and if you look at his Gallery he doesn't just do Fender type basses himself , so may have a template for something different or you make it yourself. Mine was a Jazz type Bass but 5 string so the template had to be made from scratch. (Note: You use the plywood template to help rout the body and neck)
  14. Think I've got it, thanks for sending me to Discogs. Ended up going through the alphabet: FAN, FBN, FCN etc etc as the databse of over 4755 entries came up blank
  15. Doesn't look Sheffield based: https://www.facebook.com/FNN-2041741626104834/ But thanks!
  16. Just using the Discogs data base to find my other missing label...
  17. Nice review. LIkewise when I did the course it was very hard work and I regarded myself as fairly capable with woodwork. Seemed to spend ages hand sanding things totally smooth and Jon could see scratches I'd missed that were invisible to the human eye! I must have got in before the spraying ban but he did have quite a heath robinson extraction system which may now be obselete. I supplied all my own hardware and electronics which took some time soldering. I'd never used a bandsaw before and almost the first thing he asks you to do is cut templates for the neck and body in plywood which I still have. Eek!
  18. The crossword compiler must be an obscure label geek as another clue I'm stuck on (the last two) is 'Anti fascist indie Sheffield label' -F*N. Can only be fan, fin or fun if a proper word but no sign of anything by google search.......The old compiler died last month so the new one must be flexing their nerdiness!
  19. Yes I did similar: but don't think RCA is/was a London Reggae label . The C comes from the clue 'what scritti politti had with white bread' which is blaCk beer. The A comes from the clue ' punk drummer and holy grail chaser' which is rat scAbies. Pretty sure those answers are 100% correct as they fit in with the other letters intersecting top and bottom. It's a mystery.....
