  1. Cocktail stick glued with Titebond and excess stick cut off once dry.
  2. Chris bought a couple of catalogues from me. Instant payment and great comms too. A credit to Basschat and thanks for your business. Deal with Chris with confidence.
  3. I had a Ninja Combo with the new leather handle, it makes such a difference over the crappy plastic one.
  4. Subways, have they re-opened then? Never been fond of their bread, smells great but tastes like poo....
  5. Far be it for me to do the job of the Mods but this was posted at the top of Lounge fairly recently by some guy called ped....😏 Hi everyone Just a quick note to say that we know there are some strange people listing on eBay (and there's one in particular) but we ask that you keep any posts highlighting 'weird' adverts from becoming personal or abusive, otherwise they'll be locked and participants will be warned. This forum is intended to highlight weird/ugly/strange bass gear rather than butchered modified items.
  6. Then change your avatar, it's most confusing, all skin and bones!
  7. You're looking a bit skinny but we'll feed you up if you come to the Bash....
  8. That looks very nice. I had a Gold -coloured Korean 5 String a few years ago, bought from Thomann when they were selling them off for around £750 and kept it for a couple of years then traded it. Obviously with hindsight being 100% I lusted after another one, but in going back to 4 strings they were far and few between. After a clear-out of 3 non essential to me Basses a few weeks ago I spotted another Korean 2012 Sunburst 4 string on ebay and got it for a little more than yours. Incidentally there have been a couple in the classifieds here recently but Chinese ones. Note the Chinese 4 strings are 32" scale, the 5's are 34" but the Lee Sklar signature Rockbass is 34". I was tempted but £940 for a Chinese Bass seemed excessive? I had been watching a lot of Lee Sklar's daily Bass slots and whenever he pulled out his German Custom Star Bass it seemed to sound lush and my Korean also does not disappoint. MIne is the same as the one above ( but with 4 strings) and like you I've found it has the sound I've been searching for, since buying a Chowny semi last year (not quite the feel of a Warwick) and a Gretsch Electromatic ( too big a body). The Star feels really well built and I did not realise until you mentioned it above the sideways adjustment in the bridge, I must look into that although I have big hands and it all seems fine. MIne has had a brass Just-a-nut III added too, not sure how it adjusts but like the string spacing I'm happy with it the way it is. Meant to mention it came with Flats, unsure which brand and my last one was on Flats too.
  9. Just to update what I'll be bringing: no Player P, no Blue Flower, No Gretsch Electromatic but a Warwick Star Bass, Fender 72 Telebass and a self built SuperJazz 5 Stringer.
  10. Bit like this? https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Schecter-Model-T-Session-Bass-Guitar-Aged-Natural-Satin/16JN?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=55139d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=355499313795&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2Y3764Dw6QIVmK3tCh0iBg2JEAQYASABEgK73PD_BwE
  11. Leland Sklar is who I've been watching. He's played on more tracks than anyone else and whilst not every episode has him playing, he knows virtually everyone and has an anecdote from almost every session he has done.
  12. Excited by Hot Rodding, or do you need a Basic Setup Kit? How about Go-bar kits or do your Nuts maybe need clamping?😧 Then these are for you, I was going to chuck them out as having a bit of a clean up, but if someone would like them I'll post them to you for a mere £2.00! Yes, you can look at these online but there is no substitute for leafing through the pages. If however you don't find these interesting, then you have no soul....!
  13. Sold a Gretsch bass to Pete. Instant payment, great comms, a model Basschatter. Deal with confidence.
  14. I remember doing this with a band we had at least 10 years ago, its a great tune.
  15. Just sent 2 Basses within the UK by Eurosender over the last 2 weeks. Cost was around £25 for over 11kg parcels with the £1000 insurance. Both parcels picked up by DPD and delivered the next day and all comms from Eurosender very clear, I guess I was lucky then? They don't send labels but the driver gives you a ticket, a bar code is stuck on the parcel ( he checked with me the destination which was correct) and it gets labelled up in the Depot. Yes, the discount was less than £1 on £27 plus which makes the 'Basschat 10' code a bit hollow and note it is only possible to input this just before you finally pay. I've not read the Insurance T&C closely but given many other Couriers don't cover musical instruments at all ,I have no issues with Eurosender or their delivery agents from my personal experience but obviously some members are less than impressed.
  16. Following a lead from Davie (Kodiakblair) I contacted Brian Pillans on ebay ( earlpilanz) to make me a replacement pickguard as mine has an extra hole from its days as a 'twinny'. I sent him my original plate on Thursday, and he returned it today Wednesday having compared the colours of his stock plastic and given me 2 options. He also made me a couple of inserts to fit the extra hole in my original guard too. I gave the new guard a quick fine steel wool rub-down and soaked it in a Turmeric solution for around 20 minutes and the results are below. Brian was really helpful and for £25 which included Special Return Delivery for my original, the new one was great value for a custom job. I'd really recommend him
  17. Made in China? When did that happen, I thought it has been Indonesia for a few years now?
  18. I got talking to a guy at work, maybe 20 years ago and he said he had on old Burns Jazz 3 pickup Guitar under his bed. He brought it in , it was missing a fret and a bit of a state but from the 60's I gave him £50. Got the one fret replaced and advertised it ( can't remember where). I was in Yorkshire at the time and a guy came all the way from Wales to buy it for £200, I probably could have got more for it. The other bargain was a Jaydee Supernatural Roadie I got for £300 from one of the many second-hand shops there used to be in Leeds. The windows were crammed with all sorts of stuff but this JD came down from £500 to £400 and I chopped in an old combo to get it for £300.. Ended selling it for £400 a couple of years later as it was a very specific sound and image. Hindsight!
  19. After my clear-out of what I deemed non-essential Basses (Blueflower and Player P, then Gretsch Electro) I just happened upon an ebay ad for a Korean Pro Series 4 String Warwick Star Bass. I'd seen it for some while, so made a cheeky bid, had it rejected, then we settled on a mutually beneficial price and it arrived today. It dates from 2012 and is totally immaculate, strung with flats and although missing the strap part of the strap locks, the seller is forwarding them on. It comes with the case candy and in a Warwick gig bag too. I traded a Gold Coloured 5 String version a few years ago and was toying with buying a new one, but they are Chinese and the 4 stringers, unless the Lee Sklar version at £930, are all 32" necks. I've been a bit influenced by watching LS do his thang on YT every night, but the sound is every much as good as I can remember, and the construction is first class. Here's a picture lifted off the ad, as it's too hot to go outside and get snapping at the moment!
  20. Try this and look at the grain: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solid-Chestnut-Wood-Trekking-Walking-Stick-AID-Cane-Rustic-Root-Ball-Stick-36/381564679245?hash=item58d706f44d:g:WGoAAOSweYhdEMMM
  21. Place it in the Items Wanted section, but you may not be able to access it as a newbie yet....? https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/22-items-wanted-no-trades/
