  1. Taken from a previous post by the OP... Just want to first say that this thread is slowly becoming a, "Where can I buy or get a faker built?" thread. Now I have no problem with that but I don't want to risk putting anyone on the wrong side of RIC, be that this site for indirectly promoting the sale, or the luthier that is building these copies. In future, anyone wanting info on anything Rickenbacker copy related would be well advised to join the 'Rickenfakers' facebook group. There are two main builders (that I'm aware of) on there that will build to order. Whether they build a substantial amount or only a couple a year I don't know, or how willing they are to build for strangers. So far RIC seems to be leaving them alone but I wouldn't be surprised if that changed if too many start getting built. Pop on there and all will be revealed. 👍 P.S. The discussion of fakers on Basschat is fine, to be encouraged in my opinion, but promoting sales is not. 🙂
  2. 'KYDA Rocco' translated is Keep Your Dream Alive. Rocco. I know this as I have a set of Ironworks Strings in a tin sent to me by Rocco with the same signature/message! ironically I was sent a set of 5's but there now only seems to be 4 in the tin, missing the 128's
  3. On that very subject, this seems to me an acquired taste?
  4. Now you've posted this I need to know why they would use a Tuner on the B whilst all the others are at the other end? Ditto post....
  5. Both horns look as if they have been cut out with a blunt axe, even a bought blank would have a better contour (IMHO)
  6. Bespoke sponges were known to have been sold on eBay, to some amusement of the BC collective. The reality is they were just cheap foam cut to shape and sold at a silly price. Who'd have thunk it?
  7. speaking of which, did anyone mention these? https://www.andertons.co.uk/danelectro-58-longhorn-bass-in-copper-burst-dl58cblonghornbass?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItqvOy73E6AIVDkPTCh22fAAREAQYAyABEgLHJfD_BwE
  8. Might get a fuller response in the 'Repairs and Technical Lounge' although do not disagree with what has been suggested so far!

  10. Needs much more than a refinish, clearly home made and cut out by hand, all surfaces and horns uneven. Quite a lot of time needed to true it all up, would need a real enthusiast who has time on their hands....
  11. I was led to believe that the P Bass was an icon of design in that it was machine made cheaply with very little hand finishing ( not the case now) and the scratchplate above conceals the routing necessary to install pickups and associated controls.
  12. Au contraire mon ami, the early P/Tele Bass headstock has the most pleasing symmetry and it is the later P Bass that should be confined to a darkened room!
  13. It may well be to you, but to the Fender Custom Shop it's an Offset Telecaster,..... ker-ching$$$$$$$! Think the body is the same, just different routing for the control plate
  14. In this one Leland talks about going to 3 Flea Markets this morning but now he's going to 'hunker down' and stay in at home for the foreseable. He lives in Pasadena I believe and one can only hope CV19 is not as advanced there as it is here?
  15. What magic is this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Masterbuilt-Offset-Telecaster-Bass-Journeyman-Relic-Faded-Aged-Sonic-Blue/362916506652?epid=2308022609&hash=item547f826c1c:g:iJoAAOSwGyZeSHET
  16. "I only put parts on to show you how smart she looks built. " Yeah, right....quite exactly how do you define 'smart"? Of course having looked at it, I'll get a email from eBay telling me it has 6 hours to go before the sale closes. I feel dirty!
  17. Cool earrings too! Here's a short documentary about him:
