  1. Don't use that mixer then if there are earth issues and don't ever tape cables together anyway.
  2. is the OP aware of the feedback system? if not here you go: https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/23-feedback/ and it will tell you something about the seller, if they are a regular on Basschat. To access the feedback type in their name into the search function on the page. Unlike ebay this feedback cannot be bought and can be corroborated with other buyer/sellers.
  3. Isn't the cable you've just bought a mini jack size? I'd be using full size 1/4" jacks unless I'm missing something? Your signal loss will be hardly significant on a 10m cable. I also don't understand why you'd tape the jack extension to the microphone cable? Surely your jacks leads out of the mixer would go off left and right to the 2 speakers and your microphone xlr lead would follow a different path direct from the mic (usually placed in the middle) and back to the mixer inputs?
  4. Just to clarify for the OP, the inner hole on a dual socket works for jacks and the outer section takes xlr. If you highlight the photo of the rear panel you can then zoom in to see the duality. However these are the inputs from your microphone etc and are best kept xlr but if the outputs on the mixer to the speakers are jacks, then I agree, keep them all jack.
  5. Jack are the ones that go into nearly every input along the top of your mixer (apart from the 2 black ones on the top left which are XLR). Phono are the red and white ones on the r/h side at the top. XLR are better: XLR typically gives you a 'balanced' connection, whereas the Jack connection is unbalanced. ... For a high signal level instrument, like a guitar, this is often not a problem, but for a low level signal like a microphone it could significantly degrade the sound quality, so balanced connections are used. You might wish to look at this: https://www.displays2go.com/Article/PA-System-Components-Microphones-Mixers-Amplifiers-Loudspeakers-12 or similar or maybe even go to site dedicated to PA systems for more detailed information?
  6. Re the cable , you have 2 inputs on the back which as I said are dual (will take either xlr or jack), the other is an output which is just male xlr.
  7. It's below all that you quote alongside the reviews (unless you have not got a full page optimised)? Re the XLR/ Jacks issue they are a dual socket, so you can use either in them, a jack to xlr or jack-jack, just not xlr-xlr if your mixer has not got xlr's, which is unusual?
  8. Hey Bob, assuming you are looking at the Thomann page for the speakers on a full size screen...if you go down the r/h side of the page you will see the price in a box (177 euros) then below that in the 4th box is the details of the 3 year warranty and 30 day money back guarantee. If you click on these icons you will be taken to a fuller description of the terms. Reviews biased? Go on Youtube and check out those reviews then.
  9. If the OP reads the reviews (below the item description, just keep scrolling down) they should get some idea how the speakers perform. Also there may be some other reviews online, try google or Youtube. I've had a couple of Thomann Monitors and they are fine for the money. If you don't like them, send them back within 30 days for a refund..
  10. If you look in the reviews section you can see my comparison between both the 801 and 802 which I had a while ago. I heard a MM 101 60 at the South West Bass Bash however and that was well loud solo, how it would cope in a venue with other instruments is a different matter I also have a CMD 121 P which I use for home and rehearsals and small gigs and that is the 'go-to' as well as a Richard Bona 210 500 w combo for bigger gigs
  11. I'd prefer to see Herb Alpert
  12. 'Pitchy' doesn't describe her first song...
  13. Anyone come across this book before? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mighty-Hybrid-Ordering-a-Fender-Telecaster-Bass-1966-Barrie-Midford-Millership/133050189364?hash=item1efa68c634:g:CWEAAOSwU1hc2ZoO
  14. Band wanted to play on the Moon this weekend. Must be experienced at playing to no atmosphere.
  15. Chowny don't make Basses, they just source from abroad, initially China and now India. The 1st podcast has a long section all about them from Mr C himself.
  16. As a happy Chowny devotee, I've never seen one of these before and given the similarity to a well known litigious US manufacturer with 'R' at the start of their name, it is maybe not surprising they were not advertised widely. It would nevertheless be interesting to know a bit more about them. Doubtless Mr C could clarify?
