1. I could very well interested in one of these in bridged mode... Whats the price on a UK version one of these shipped?
2. Buying basses is generally a bad investment. Don't forget that more basses and guitars are being produced per year NOW then ever before. So they are unlikely to reach prices as high as current vintage instruments. Best find the cheaper vintage instruments now, and hold onto them.
3.
Hi guys, Thanks for all the responses. To answer your questions about why we are specifically looking for a 5 string player is because we play in drop A. Although you are correct Conan, a 4 string bass can be tuned lower than E, for tonal reasons, we want someone with a 5 string which can handle the down-tuning better. If anyone is still interested in depping for some gigs immediately, get in touch here for an audition pack: [email protected] WPF
Uhh, Many 5 strings are the exact same scale length (34") as 99% of 4 strings. As long as the 4 string has the correct gauge strings and setup, tonally there would be absoloutely no difference. Pity, I am a very good player, live in London and I love your music. But at the moment I only have 4 strings. I do have a 6 and a 7 string fretless on the way, but because they have the same scale length as my 4's, "Tonally" They obviously cant hack it according to you. Op I think you are misinformed and mistaken. This a site of well informed bass players who know probably a bit more about downtuning a bass more then your good self. Of course, if its for other reasons such as "Image" then put that as your reasoning.
4. Hey guys. I just had to get rid of my Ampeg PF-500 for some emergency funds until pay day. I loved it because I could fully bypass the preamp on the amp so I can use my Sansamp instead. Looking at the Mibass and Little Giant and all they appear to have FX returns instead of a dedicated pre-amp in (Though the LG has a Line IN, will that be the same?). I am looking at the cheaper end of the market (Around 200-300) second hand. Need at least 400 watts at 4ohms, So is there anything out there for that cheap with fully defeatable Pre-amp? Will be paired with a Barefaced 12T

6. I think it's a bit of both. I use it in a fairly high gain setting and does grit up. Perhaps not as much as the valve based models but it's a very good approximation. I'll be getting another once my money troubles are over.
7. Guys, as clarification if you didnt get it. The reason this is cheap is because I want it PICKED UP. I dont want to post or get a courier sent to me. Cheers! R
8. Ok, this needs to be gone, I am moving house and need the extra cash ASAP. So up for sale at only £200 FIRM picked up, cash in hand or bank transfer. I am very busy right now so I cannot post or Travel to meet.
9. The Crackle one is an AXL Badwater. The other one is some random cheapo thing. Probably Westfield or some such.
10.
how is this still here?
Who knows!
11. Ibanez Jetking with the upper scratchplate taken off.
12. Bump, I will NOT be taking any less then £140. Firm means firm.
13.
Not bad! I like the fact that the vocals don't sound like typical stoner rock and sound more like Zack De La Rocha, especially in the first one! I will say the bass is way too loud though compared to the guitars though, especially since the bass has quite a mid-present clank. I know we as bass players like to be heard but I think you overpower the mix a bit here!
It was my bands decision to bump me up in the mix! I am not one to complain! Never have I heard myself on a recording before so pretty chuffed! We got some radio play recently and things are looking up!
14. Have a listen to Thrices (Brilliant) version for ideas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsjoSN0eSMU
15. Sourced a B string! It's used but reasonably fresh!
16. Hey guys. Just recorded my first live rough as heck demo with my new stoner/prog/rock band. One take only. Gibson Grabber with the pup slid to the neck. Sansamp VT bass Deluxe Power amp Hi-watt 1x15 2x10. Everything mic'd up. I am also doing lead vocals (They are terrible I know my first time, but no one else in the band wanted to do it.) We are tuned drop C, somethings up with my tuning/intonation as the bass sounds a little flat. Otherwise I love my tone. https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/oubliette?in=chinspinner/sets/demo https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/stereobeard https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/hamfist What say you guys? I'll be honest, it might not sound brilliant, but I am bloody proud of it, never thought I could get in front of a mic and belt it out and get something close to the tone that I want.
17. Ok, I have re-appraised the bass, it needs a bit more work then first described and as such I have dropped the price of the bass. People who can locally pickup will get first refusal.
18.
Curious... Mine has exactly the same thing! I've had it for about 4 years now and it has not caused me any grief whatsoever BTW to any prospective buyers: £200 is a brilliant price for one of these. I paid £280 for mine and that was without any upgrades. I'm assuming if you took out the preamp it would be exactly the same as a stock one?
Not sure if it is the original passive pots and such, this was all done before I received it. So you might need to get a new electrics harness! Pickups are original though!
