1.
I have the SC FR and it is an absolute belter of a guitar with a brilliant compound radius neck and superb blackout PUs! Great price as I have been offered £400 for mine on Gumtree.
See I reckon I would like the singlecut. I am selling my Epi Explorer (For £130) and this so i can get a Les Paul style dealy. Cheers! R
2. Hey guys. Up for sale I have a 3 month old Charvel Desolation DC-1. This is the dual cutaway carved top one, top of this particular range. Dont confused this with the cheaper DC-2 and DC-3 models. Solid Gloss black finish, Abalone inlays and binding, Lovely carved top with sculpted control areas. Body looks to be made from 3 peices of wood (Neck thru, so central piece with wings). Its VERY lightweight. Frets are perfect. Hardware is near immaculate. Slight ding in the back of the body and a scratch on the side next to the bottom strap button. Active EMG 81/85 combo, sperzel alike locking Charvel tuners. The guitar is neck thru however the neck is a wood finish which stops at the body. This is a real tidy looking guitar and a fantastic low action player. Truss rod is A-OK. Comes with a ratty but padded Ritter gigbag, Pickup in London ONLY. I have no packing materials to post this guitar with. MAJORLY REDUCED TO JUST £210 Cheers! R
3. The worst in my mind would be Nick Karns Technique god rest his soul. His plucking fingers are held out completely straight at all times.
4. As per forum rules, you need to give us a trade value/price in you listing. Please do this now.
5. Pretty sure its Ebonal, bowling ball material.
6. Hey guys. I have an Epiphone explorer here. Made in the Unsung Plant, Korea December 2002 Production Number: 1575 It has been gigged fairly often at one point. Body is made from 3 pieces of wood. Has the usual chip or two at the upper bout and some scuffs but otherwise in good working order, hardware is tarnished but can probably be buffed out. The nut is missing some of the low E side, however the low E is still playable and hasent jumped out of the nut since I have had it. Truss rod is working 100% AOK. Frets are in good working order with plenty of life left in them. Currently strung with some ernie ball not even slinkys, probably could do with replacing though. The guitar can easily be setup with a low action. Sound is pretty standard Epi Explorer type, great for those stadium rock Scorpions moments. Weight is fairly average for a guitar this size. Most importantly it comes with a well fitting Ritter explorer shaped gig bag worth £45 alone Anyway, a quality solid guitar for very little money. Reduced to just £110 FIRM No offers please. Pickup is from Sutton London and priority will be given to people who can pickup. Otherwise buyer pays shipping. Excuse for the bad photos. Cheers! Rob.
7. I have some of the Steels on my maple bodied P-J where I had nickles before. Tbh there is not much of a difference in tone maybe ever so slightly brighter, feel is very much the same. I think the coating negates the metal change quite a bit.
8. Nope its a real Epiphone Thunderbird, non reverse model.
9. I saw a band there today and they were bloody good and loud! Any ideas who they were? Sorta reggae pop funk thing, guitarist/singer, girl drummer and male bass player.
10. Hmm, I reckon I missing a T-40 in my life. Whats the current price on one? Anyone got one for sale?
11.
The guitars changed scale apparently, so maybe the bass did too.
I know, I just want to get it right!
12. Hey guys. I was wondering what the exact scale length of a Gibson RD Artist. My luthier has just measured one, and claims that from the nut to the crown of the 12th fret, it measured 17" and double that equals 34". Yet many websites and some forum posts claim it is actually 34 1/2 or 34 3/8". Can anyone measure their Gibson RD Artist (Not Kris Novaleselic models). And tell me what result they come up with? Cheers! Rob.
13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Music-Man-Sub-Bass-Guitar-American-4-String-/300806009715?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item46096f7373 Thought someone might want it, bit damaged but meh!
14. Ok all of the specs have been confirmed. Decided to go Flat top after all. Gibson RD Artist copy. 34" scale, 19mm string spacing. 4 String. Right handed. Emphasis on better balance and more lightweight then the original. Neck thru, mahagony/maple neck with black "ebony" like fingerboard. Maple body wings. Fancy dan flame maple bookmatched flat top Black/white/black scratchplate and clear scratchplate. Vintage brown burst, with extra brown dye sunburst finish to accentuate the flame, to give it almost 3D effect. Black headstock front. Body, neck and headstock bound. Brass nut. Les paul Supreme a-like fingerboard inlays. (Split block) Hardware will be gold throughout. Hipshot 3 point supertone bridge, Hipshot ultralight tuners with Drop D tuner on low E (Big clover ear ones with the larger hole size) SGD RD copy Humbucker style pickups to be installed in standard Gibson RD Artist positions. ACG Filter based pre-amp.
15.
That is so bad that it's ... erm ... bad.
16. It's sorta nice... but it aint got a skeleton on it!
17.
you know the messy thread on TB where SGD... well hasn't made his pickups yet.... have a look, theres a fella in norway that makes them time to time- I saw him with one on ebay a month ago and it wasn't too expensive.
Any ideas who this guy in Norway is? Otherwise can anyone give me ideas for traditional style pups that would get me an approximation of the sound?
18.
Wal pups are pretty unique and have a two coils per string if i remember correctly. I dont know of anyone else that uses/builds them. SGD Lutherie was looking to build them at one point but i dont know if he ever got round to it. http://www.sgd-lutherie.com
# I am aware of that. I already have pickups being made by SGD which have taken forever so at the moment I am just looking for an approximate sound until he gets that project off the ground. Wal pups are polyphonic, no one else really does that style of pickup for bass anymore.
19. UPDATE at Post #16 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/190250-waghorn-guitars-rd-artist-supreme-bass-clone/page__view__findpost__p__2214924 Hey guys. I have come up with a build spec for my Waghorn guitars custom build. I was going to go 6 string, but got a deal with Lettsbass to make me one so here my wild idea! What do you guys reckon? Take this But with the wood and finishing of one of these. and put them together! Gibson RD Artist copy. 34" scale to combat neck dive and give me more string choices. 4 String. Right handed. Emphasis on better balance and more lightweight then the original. As such the body will be slightly slimmer then the original. Basically turn an RD Artist into a "Supreme". Neck thru, mahagony/maple 3 peice neck with black ebony like fingerboard. Maple body wings. Fancy maple bookmatched carved top prefer wide spaced grain. Darkish Two tone sunburst finish. Body, neck and headstock bound. Les paul Supreme a-like fingerboard inlays. Hardware will be gold throughout. Hipshot supertone bridge, Hipshot ultralight tuners (Big clover ear ones) Likely humbucker style pickups to be installed in the Wal MK1 bass pickup positions. ACG Filter based pre-amp. So I am basically looking for a sound approaching that of a Wal. Yet with the RD aesthetic. Not sure whether to go with a pickguard or not. It will look good without one, but cant help but think it will just look like a fancy thunderbird rather then an RD! What sort of humbuckers should I be looking for to best approximate the Wal sound? I know it wont be the same..
20.
So, very reluctantly, I'm going to sell on my Sei Bass Jazz fretless 5-string. It's a beautiful, amazing-sounding bass, but, after the bash the other week and having a go on WalMan's Wal, I have decided I really need one of those in my life, so, much as it pains me, the Sei has to go.
After hearing you play it I have the same issue!
21. No matter. Dealt with the seller on BC and snagged the Pickup and slide for £50 shipped. The Grabber pups are pretty unique, have been known to fall apart and break inside the pickup to make them unusable. Best to have a backup for mine!
22.
The pickup is a passive Dimarzio
Dimarzio Model G I believe
23.
Is that a poplar body? Doesn't look like any ash I've ever seen.
Glad someone else noticed this too! Possibly stripped SUB?
