Hello all. I am new to the art of Gain stacking. Essentially I play in a Post-punk-rock band with experimental elements, think Fugazi, Sonic youth etc. Axe of choice is a cheap as chips Telecaster. I have a Blackstar LT-Drive pedal, which is a plexi copy, i like to have it at a fairly low-medium gain setting to mimic a broken up amp and I used my dynamics to go driven and somewhat clean. However sometimes I just want that extra boost to go into a more crazy overdrive or fuzz with feedback effects. What sort of thing should I be looking at? Clean boost in front of the LT-Drive? Fuzz before or after? Another overdrive? Maybe even a MXR Distortion +? (Guy Picciotto from Fugazi uses that to great effect) As I use lots of different amps during the week I dont want to have to use the amp to help me out here. Assume I am running a clean amp all the time. Cheers in advance!

Bands you adore that no one else has ever heard of...
Shockwave replied to TrevorR's topic in General Discussion
Soil and Pimp sessions. Been listening to them since their inception. https://www.youtube....h?v=AQMgXPFzdg8 -
I bought their SG bass kit a few years back. Sent it back as the three point bridge was routed not inline with the neck pocket. The next one had the same issue so had to send that back as well. Pity, a full scale SG bass is my kinda thing.

I have seen it in the flesh. It's in terrible condition and they dont look after their stock. I doubt they are even musicians there and just pander to tourists.

Bassist and backing vocalist. I am the original founder of the band. Book some gigs. Write some of the simpler songs. Set list creator and general butt kicker. I let the guitarist do most of the social media and write the complicated stuff.
Hi, I don't think so, but they're incredibly hard to find, and as with all Fenders they gain value, I do believe it's worth every penny, obviously I'd like to get as much as poss for it, without stinging anyone on the way, would be interested to hear peoples views on it as there's very few of them out there to compare with, pricewise that is, Thanks Mark
They are not hard to find at all. Even if they were hard to find Rare does not always = Worth more. They are a very recent mass produced cheapest Fender Jazz bass and Made in China. Granted they were alright basses. But I struggled to sell my 4 string for more then £300. Looking at the most recently Sold listing for Modern Player Jazz's on Ebay. The Most expensive one sold was a brand new one for £455.

Of course a bass can be a melodic or lead instrument. It's very difficult to form a band around it but can be done. My Hardcore punk band is built around my bass playing. I have a couple of solos and lots intricate lines. But because the songs are built around the instrument it does not sound contrived or shoehorned then it sounds great. The crowd seem to love it too.

Wow, this new track is amazing! https://www.youtube....h?v=8DRCGcuByQc Guest musicians, that drummer is crazy. But Joe is on top form. That bass run!!

Criminally underrated. A fairly well known youtube bassist cops a decent Tool tone on one.

I really don't think that's a bad price at all for a US made low production number bass.

The new single reminds me of his sons band Fiction Plane.
I've just contacted Hercules via their website, so I'll see if they can help. Having a wee google, apparently rubbing alcohol could be a contender for getting rid of it, but there is the chance it could also make things worse. I have ethanol in the pantry (used to use it on cake decoration), so if Hercules can't help, I'll give it a blast & let you know what it does.
Lynx Deodorant will do the same thing. Give it a shot. I clear all my sticky situations with it.

Would totally rock this. Needs a louder paint job though. Pink and black zebra stripes.

Pretty sure I auditioned for these guys a while ago. I didn't get it as they didn't want a bassist that played beyond root notes Rehearsing under the arches right? Unfortunately I don't rate my guitar playing skills enough!

The best, cheapest and obvious solution for stickers is your standard Lynx Deodorant! Comes right off.
